My husband and I both had the RNY on September 6th 2016. We are now almost 9 months out and have lost a lot of weight. My husband started out at 496 lbs and is now down to 305 lbs. I started out at 304 lbs and am now down to 175 lbs. We have had a long journey together but are both making great progress so far. His first goal weight is to get down to 250 lbs and mine is to get down to 150 lbs. In hoping to hit my 150 lb mark by June 16th which is the date of our 9 month check up. It is now getting harder for me to lose weight because I'm getting closer to my goal weight. But I am determined to still try my best the next 4 weeks to get the last 25 lbs off.
After 5 months out from surgery I had surgery on my left achilles tendon and was not active of mobile for 2 full months so that really slowed me down for awhile. But now I'm back to work, excersing more and training for my very first 5K for September 30th of this year.
The photo shows our change in the past year and I am very proud of both of us!

Congrats! I will be 9 months out June 6th.
    Surgery weight 288
    Current weight 175
I am also stuck and just taking it one day at a time. Keep doing what you are doing. It'll slowly come off but now it'll just take a little more time.

    Starting weight: 280lbs
    Surgery Weight: 267lbs

I'm just taking it day by day and focusing on my food, Water and exercise. I feel great and I know the stall will pass! I'm not done with this journey yet!

Thank you! I know its a lot of weight to lose. Ill be so happy if I did lost the last 25 lbs but I know its harder to lose weight as I get closer. I'm not going to push it to lose it all ill just be happy to lose what I can by my 9 month check up. But I am determined to be at my goal by my 1 year :-)

Wowsers! Y'all have done amazingly! Do not beat yourself up if you don't make the 25lbs. That is asking a lot (possibly too much) of yourself. Just do your best, and be happy with whatever results you get
Congrats on your losses, you look great!

25 lbs in 4 weeks when you are this close to goal seems like an unreasonable expectation. The pace of weight loss can really slow down as you move closer to goal. Continue to do what you know what you need to do to lose and be proud of any continued losses. You will do great. I just don't want you setting some lofty arbitrary goal and then feeling frustrated if you don't hit it. You should be proud of any downward trend on the scale!

So I been reading a lot on here that people have to do the liquid diet before surgery. Can someone tell me why your doctors have you do that? I'm 3 months out from my surgery my doctor did not make me do a liquid diet. Just no food or Water after midnight. Just wondering where you guys are from and where you guys go that they have you do that?

I hosted thanksgiving this year at my place. After only being 2 months out everyone thought I was crazy to host since I wouldn't be able to eat. But I didn't care I wanted my family to just have a good time. So I made turkey, mash potatoes, stuffing, corn, carrots and everyone else brought some side dishes and a lot of dessert. I still was able to eat a few pieces of turkey and some green bean casserole. For desert I waited 3 hours after my meal and ate a very tiny piece of pumpkin pie and worked my way around the crust.

Hello! My husband and I both had the surgery done on September 6th 2016. Both same day. I hit 304lbs and new I had to do something about my weight. Decided to get the surgery and it changed my life. I am currently just 3 months and 3 days out from surgery and so far lost 70lbs. Day of surgery weighed in at 288lbs and now I'm 218lbs. I couldn't believe how quickly I lost all that weight. I was a size 26 in September and now down to a size 16w. Its scary how quickly everything is happening but this has been the best thing I've ever done in my life. I had issues the first two weeks and and couldn't keep anything down so they had to go in and dilate my incision in my esophagus so I could eat. The first two week I only lost 1 lb. After they did that I was able to keep more food down then all of a sudden lost o much weight. My goal is to get down to 150lbs and so far I'm half way there. Hoping to get to my goal weight by my 1 year mark. I have to go get surgery on my Achilles tendon on the 28th of this month so that is probably going to slow me down but I'm going to keep trying. Other than that doing very well and taking it one day at a time.

What an AMAZING post!! I think in some ways it would be great to do this together. But in my case I had my RNY done on July2, 2013 then Sept of 2013 my hubby went in for a revision from his Lap Band to a RNY. It didn't go as planned. He finally had his Sleeve done this last June. I am kind of glad because I have always taken care of everyone else and since he had his Sleeve he started doing the KETOGENIC diet. Well, it was all left up to me. Now one reason was it is very hard for me to ask for help or accept it. So I was making the grocery list, doing the shopping and then going shopping together. But I had to do all of the prep and let me tell you there is so much prep. Finally, because I got so frustrated he did start to help me. What a difference!! So now things are better all around!! I am afraid that if he had his surgery right after I had it would have been so overwhelming. Thank goodness it worked out for the best. Do you find it hard to do it together or easier? Good Luck!!
