  1. I had my lap band removed last January after only a year. Always in discomfort. Couldn't swallow anything. Threw up daily. It was a brutal experience. It took me 3 years and $11 000 to make the decision. Wish it went differently. Doctor closed up shop and had to find another doctor to remove it. Spent a week in the hospital after.
  2. Hi Guys... Haven't been on here in a long time. Just thought I would stop by and let you know after a year of having my band in... I had it removed in January. Constantly choking, puking, etc... I made the decision. I can honestly say I wish I never did it. My surgeon and his office shut down... basically ran about a month after I was banded. Now I hear of a class action suit in Canada... going after Lap Band. Hopefully it works for some people... not me. Spend $12 000.... I tried.....lol. I would say... really do your homework.
  3. Hi Guys... Just wondering why so many chose the sleeve over a lap band? Lap band seems less evasive and can be reversed. Sleeve is permanent and obviously more can go wrong. I just trying a lap band first would be a better option. Just looking for some feedback as to why you chose what you chose. Thanks Guys.... Jim

    Lapband / Gastric Bypass

It's true... all have issues. Not everybody is a success story. It sucks we even have to do it at all. You just have to weigh the options and figure out what is best for you.... To be honest... I was hoping to have the lapband for a few years, and lose the weight. And was hoping to have it removed when I have this thing figured out. Will it happen... not sure...lol. I will update you in 5 or so years...lol.

Green Spot / Sweet Spot - How do you know?

I will need this info too....lol. Back on solids... right now I'm just trying to get used to smaller bites and chewing my food to nothing. If I don't... food gets stuck and.... well it's not fun...lol. The band feels tight enough... just not sure about getting the full feeling. It obviously keeps me thinking every time I put some food in my mouth. And maybe...that is what it is all about. Portion control... weary of what I'm eating, and of course.... exercise!!!! Was lucky today... no snow on the ground, so I hit the trail along the canal. Feels great being able to walk outside... the treadmill is so boring!!!!
  9. I guess you're right about being the last quiet day...lol. I'm happy going in and having a treadmill waiting for me. Not sure what I will do if I have to wait...lol. I guess we will have to ride the storm out.... 2 months you day...lol. Have a Happy New Year Little Bill!!!!

    Lapband / Gastric Bypass

Lapband.... after talking to my surgeon, he said the only reason doctors are phasing them out is time and money. Too much aftercare for the doctors. Why take out 80% of your stomach if not needed. It can't be reversed....

Did a couple days on the treadmill.... feeling great. Should have done the surgery in 2013 when I first thought about it..... 2017 is going to be a great year!!!!

    Sleeve Over Lap Band?

Actually after talking to an honest surgeon...lol..... he said alot of surgeons don't push the lap band anymore because of the follow up care and it takes money out of their pocket, and their time. Made me feel better about my decision. He said if you don't like the lap band it can be reversed.... but if the sleeve doesn't work, you can replace 80% of your stomach. He also said.... all are good... if they work...lol. Good Times.

    Dry-heaving

I kinda was worried about that too. Was sick last night... tried to throw up.... but it was a no go. All I could think about was the band shifting. ,
  17. Hey Gang... Today is my first day on puree food. Day13...lol. So... I figured it would be a good time to try and make a meal and enjoy some good. I made roast beef, mashed potatoes, and cream corn. I was out all day... so didn't really eat today. Was still doing the liquid diet. Boost, Water, coffee in the morning, blah, blah, blah. So anyway...I was so excited about this meal. Sat down and I think I forgot I had the lapband. Has a couple bites, didn't really think about it. Well all of a sudden, I get this feeling like something is stuck. Well... didn't the food get lodged. All the discussion groups I read about this. The stuck feeling. I wasn't expecting it. I figured I would have to see the surgeon in 6 weeks, get 2 cc's into the port to tighten it...lol. Is it possible... I'm already at a good setting. The green spot, The sweet spot....lol. Does anybody have any info for me please. I read we have to chew 20 times, 20 bites of food, for 20 minutes. I'm kinda excited....lol. In a weird sort of way....lol.

Love the gym stories....lol. Just joined a new gym yesterday, and will start on the treadmill on Monday. I have to wait another week before any lifting.... Really looking forward to it. The gym I joined is a lot of older folk... so no meatheads...lol. They are already trying to get me to do a 45 minute spinning class....lol. Not quite ready for that.... good times.

  21. $700 000 Bill???? OMG!!!! Hearing stories like this... I'm so happy I live in Canada with Universal Health Care. Hope she feels better soon. I still can't believe the doctor said Not to go the hospital. I would think all doctors would say the opposite.

    Best place in Mexico?

Also Guys.... not sure if you thought about it. But the American dollar is @ $1.34 Canadian. So you could save 34% if you come to Canada to get your surgery.. My lap band surgery was $12 000... that means around $8000.00 for you....

    I'm struggling with muscle loss.

Don't forget you are 80 lbs lighter...lol. You don't have the extra weight as leverage. I wouldn't worry too much. Just get in as much Protein and you can and keep working out. Maybe change it up a bit. Do some legs... that is where we get most of our power.

    Lap Band....First Episode!

Oh it was puree'd....lol. Roast beef, and it was cream corn...lol. All good... I just got a little ahead of myself yesterday. Part of the learning curve. Puree foods until Tuesday... then to try whole foods for a couple weeks, then chat with the nurse and surgeon about my first fill. They only do them after 6 weeks from surgery.
