You usually slow down a bit at about the 6-7 week mark. Try adding more calories to your diet, you may not be getting enough. You should be around 900 a day.

The only thing that would have happened is it could have made you sick. As long as you didn't get sick you will be fine, just make sure you get sugar free from now on.

If you're vomiting and having trouble keeping fluids down I wouldn't really call that failing

Sucks sure, but it's not like you were doing tbe wrong things. Your body just wouldn't cooperate

At 4 weeks out, she can't have veggies n dip, she needs something she can eat. I am sure everyone else can eat what the others will bring. Quiche would be good too, if you can tolerate eggs or deviled eggs.

I will share my one exp with eating to much sugar. My wife and i picked up some Chinese food while out and it turned out the sauce was nearly pure sugar. It took less than a minute till i knew i was going to be sick. i felt hot and sweaty and could feel the nausea sweep over me in waves. the closest thing i could recall was the one time i had the actual flu i felt almost like that but thank god it only lasted about 20 minutes and then passed probably caused i stopped eating after second bite.
other than that you can google dumping after weight loss surgery to see the actual medical terms but was and has been my 1 and only exp. i now avoid eating any sauce i can't get a list of ingredients for. hope this helps

I have issues with dumping if I have too much sugar. I get it if I try to eat Peanut Butter. I get extremely nauseous, cold sweats, usually my head will spin, and I can even get diarrhea afterwards. It’s an awful feeling and if you get it, you will know and not want to do it again, and beg God for sweet sweet death. Sometimes it lasts 10-15 minutes but the longest it lasted for me was an hour.

Everyone is different and everyone loses weight at different speeds. It sounds to me tho like you aren’t eating nearly enough, especially if you are working out. You are burning through many more calories than you are ingesting and you need to up your caloric intake before your body goes into complete starvation mode and you begin to gain weight. Also, you need to be speaking to your nutritionist and they can help you make sure you are getting the correct amount of Protein for your activities.

Bariatric surgeon Duc Vuong, MD has a YouTube video titled, “Why You Should NOT Exercise After Weight Loss Surgery.” It is 27 mins long and very interesting. I also enjoy his other videos on YouTube.

Will do, thanks for the reminder. Though I think a few of us would really like to stop being harassed a particular individual who is not providing any actual support other than upsetting other people on this particular page. No one deserves to be attacked for a post they are making and looking for suggestions and encouragement. I honestly did not expect such a thing from members of this site, but I was definitely wrong.

Sorry to hear about your stricture -- yikes, what a unfortunate development! BUT, congratulations on your weight loss! From 265 to 219 -- that's 46 pounds! 75% of excess body weight in a year is the average loss with bariatric surgery. Assuming that is about 86 pounds (you don't list a height, so I assumed a goal weight of 150 pounds), you are more than half way there and its only been 2 months. Good job!

You know if you’re just going to complain about women I don’t think ANYONE wants to hear it. Also statistically the majority of people who get bariatric surgery are WOMEN. Wanting to lose more weight doesn’t make you greedy by the way. People just want to know if they’re doing something wrong or can improve their results by doing something similar to what someone who is losing more is doing.
Quit hating. No one needs that. If you’re going to just be rude to the people here that are offering their help and me then GET OFF MY POST.

    Lacecute,

I’m sorry that your dealing with this, but I hate to say that this is a rude awakening for you any will be for many others. This surgery is a tool to help assist with your weight loss. You still have to put the work in as you stated your doing.
You will find in your journey weight gains and MANY stalls. The stalls could last 1 or 2 weeks, later in my journey my stalls lasted longer.
Your not even two months out so your doing awesome with your weight loss. One thing you don’t want to do is compare your journey to someone else. Everyone is different! This will not happen overnight, please keep that in mind. As the person said prior to increase your food intake, Men’s bodies are different as well and will need more calories than a woman. When you come across a stall increase your Protein and Water intake.
Stay focused on the end result, and to reach the end result don’t add in your triggers or those things that are not good for you I.e. chips. There are healthy options if you desire those guilty pleasures. I would definitely wait until later in your journey to indulge, bad habits now lead to more bad habits.
Don’t be so hard on yourself the surgery is working and your doing awesome with your weight loss thus far!

I'm kinda conflicted. On one hand you are obviously infinitely healthier than you were 75 lbs ago, and you certainly look totally normal to me. You don't look overweight to me at all. On the other hand, though... even though the BMI formula isn't perfect, the data show greater health risks for people above a "normal" BMI. So while I'd love to dismiss it I'm still anxious to get into at least the overweight category if not the normal.
BMI is basically an estimate of your body fat. It often understates obesity in short people and overstates it in tall people. And, obviously the very athletic who have lots of LBM get miscategorized as well. I've also read some research that proposes an alternate BMI schedule for Asian-Americans (currently understates obesity) and African-Americans (currently overstates obesity). So if you're in the normal body fat range for women then you shouldn't worry about BMI and just carry on being active and eating nutritious foods.
But the truth is most of us don't know our body fat, short of visiting a health club and paying for the DEXA scan. (From what I've read, the presence of excess skin after WLS makes calipers unreliable.) In that case, BMI can be a useful tool.
So, I dunno. I don't think we should totally throw out BMI and say it's useless. Statistically speaking it predicts health outcomes and mortality rates. But I do get why it feels inaccurate or frustrating when your body is strong and you're active and have healthy habits but the height/weight ratio tells you you're part of The Obesity Epidemic. So, I feel you! You look awesome and it's hard to believe you are just four months out from surgery! Amazing!

You may want to try to do a sleeve cleanse. Do some research on it and try that before going back under the knife. Age plays a BIG factor in weight gain, try and stay away from those empty calories and high carb foods. Good luck.
