    Hello to all

Hello. I am 3 days post op & i feel great. I just have alot of gas & gas in my left shoulder. My throught is still a little sore from them trying to stick whatever down there for surgery but they say it should get better as days go by. Anyway, I am really enjoying the Unjury Nectar Roadside lemonade & cherry protein drink. They have like 30g of protein. These are more like a juice than a shake. Cause i mix these with water but with my chocolate, vanilla & cookies & cream I mix with 1% milk. The Unjury Nectar protein drinks taste almost like Kool-Aid:cool: You can go on their site & order sample packs. Thats what i did before i had my surgery & now looks like i will be ordering it by the tub! Check it out, & good luck on your journey!!!!!!

    bcbs michigan general motors

Hello. I have BCBS of michigian & I can tell you now.. they are slow! they kept telling me they have 30 days to decide approval but it took them 45 days!!! I called at least 2 times a week just to let them know how woresome i can be:tongue: then i got the bariatric coordinater to call & it still took them another week! I finally just gave up waiting, prayed about it & took it to the alter & then come that monday, i got a phone call. I was approved! I was so happy i did a little dance!! So all i can say is, hang in there and keep calling them being woresome:sneaky: Good luck!!!
  5. Yes call your insurance company. Just to make sure at least if they have received your paperwork. I did! I call at least 2 times a week. I have BCBS of michgian & they have had my paperwork since May 13. I have been calling twice a week since then. Soon or a later they will get tired of me calling & give a answer!!!! Good luck!

    Still Waiting

Okay my surgeons office sent in my paper work for insurance approval. So i called my insurance company, BCBS of MICHIGIAN, last friday & asked them have they received my information & they said they received it on 5/13 & it is still being reviewed. Now i understand they don't do a pre-approval, so what will they do:confused:. I am so ready to get this show on the road before the long summer hot months come. I have not even got a date yet. I guess the surgeon is waiting for approval also. I have been through everthing but i have to retake the breath tec test on this friday. I hope i pass it this time. Anyways i saw one of the girls that works where i do that was banded about a year ago & may i say she looks good . Everytime i see her i get so excited knowing that is going to be me soon, hopefully:thumbup: I am just sooo ready to do this!!! Anyone with BCBS of MICHIGIAN please let me know how long did it take for you to hear something & are they hard about approving. thanks

    I have a brilliant idea!

You know that is so funny cause as i read this & type I am on my bike!!! I have not been banded yet still waiting on insurance approval but i am trying to get myself in the habit of some things now. I made it up in my mind that for now on i will not get on my laptop unless i am on my bike. Good thought uh! lol
  8. Hellooo Family. I was just wondering who has had an experience with BCBS of Michigian PPO. Are they hard to deal with when it comes to approval??? My bariatric coordinator called me & said she called them for insurance approval for the Lapband for me & they told her they don't do pre-approval, which that is what they told me also. So the coordinator said that they want her to mail in all of my information ( 6 month weigh-ins, physic evaluation, & PCP office notes supporting my failed weight attempts) to them. So what happens when they receive my information?? I am totally confused:confused:!!!

    BCBS of MICHAGIAN PPO

Thanks for the reply. Actually I am not at the begining of this process I have done all of my tests & 6 month diet & physic evaluation My bariatric coordinator sent off my information on Tuesday I PRAY that my BCBS is different than yours! Even though they both are of michigian, they still could be a little different. Congradulation on your surgery & i hope you are feeling well. Just slide over a little bit cause i am right behind you girlfriend!!!!!!!
  10. HELLOO Family. I have been trying to get prepared for my laband by buying protein powder mix, slimfast low carb and sugar-free popsiciles. I have went through with everything, just waiting for approval. I also bought some sugar-free creamsiciles. And boy they are both goood:tongue2:. I was just wondering will these; creamsiciles, be good for both pre-op and post-op???
  11. Hellooo Family. My son is always snooping around in my bedroom. So while i was fixing supper last night he came to me and said, "mama you are not a dummy". I said, "what"? He says ,"the book on your bed says, Weightloss Surgery for Dummies and you are not a Dummy" (smiling:smile2:) The physic require for me to purchase the book and it has some good information in it. Anyways he knows about the surgery he was just trying to be funny(he's 14 yrs old; damn teenager:cursing:) So i told him to stay the hell out of my room and leave my damn sugarfree popsicles & sugarfree creamsicles alone:cursing:! I am preparing for this surgery for whenever i have it! I see now there is going to be a problem with him eating my food that he has no idea that it is diet food! Okay that' all for now, just needed to vent!
  12. How cute! I trade you for my 14yr old son for your grandaughter!!!lol

    Surgar-free Creamsiciles

Hello. They are the same brand as the regular sugarfree popsicles. I got them from Walmart & they are right beside the regular sugarfree popsicles, you can't miss them. They are 40 calories for 2 & 20 calories for 1. And 10 carbs for 2 & 5 carbs for 1. I tell you now, these are going to be my best friend when or after I have surgery!!!! lol

    Moving right along

Thanks for the reply. Hope things go well!!!!
  15. Hello family. Just wanted to let you guys know my progress. Well Friday, yesterday, was my last appointment with the physic. He gave me such good reports about me after grading the paper or should i say book, i had to fill out for him:redface: He said he thinks i would be a great canadaite for the lapband & i will do well:biggrin:. I know i will. I am so determined. I got my breath tec labs back last week & it tested positive for bacteria. Which i think & hope that came from the absess on my gum i had when i took the test. Anyways they prescibed me a 14 day antibiotic treatment, which is 4 antibiotics i have to take 2 times a day:angry: WHich has given me a yeast infection!!! I got 3 more days to take this mess!! Then i go back & take the test again on May 30. This the only & last step i have to take. i hope & pray that it tests negative this time & i also hope everything else is being sent in to the insurance company to get approval!! Well thats all for now & sorry so long. PLEASE KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS & I WILL DO THE SAME!!
  16. Helo. I called the insurance company on Tuesday & asked them how far do they go back with the 6 month supervised diet and they said 4 years!! So by me having my weightwatchers & curves information for year 2004-2005 i should be fine!! YIPPEEE!!!
  17. Hello all. I have bcbs of michigan & i called & asked them if i could use my Curves & weightwatchers information for my 6 month supervised diet and they said yes!:cool:But the only thing is my first weigh-in was with Curves in May of 2004. Then i got September through December of 04 weigh-ins with them & January through April of 2005 weigh-ins with Weightwatchers. SOOO do that really matters?? I mean as long as it is 6 consecutive months like they require. I might call tommorrow & ask but i have called with so many questions, they probally know me by now:rolleyes2: I just want to get everything together so when i finish my last 2 appointments, all i want to do is wait for approval & surgery date!. Also do they go by your weigh-in from your first initial appointment? The reason im asking is, at my first initial appointment i weighed 247 which put my bmi at 41. Now i have lost right at 5 pounds which puts my bmi at 39. SOO should i slow up a little:eek: Someone please give me some suggestions:confused: This all so frustrating & at times i feel like just giving up. But then through it all, i know the good Lord will help me through it:wink2:

  20. HI. well bc/bs of mich. said that i could use my curves & weight watchers information but now wondering ig it has to be from the previous year. cause the information i have is year 2004-2005 but i have other failed attempted weight loss from year 2006-2007 information my pcp doctor wrote down but just not in 6 month period or not being weighed in for 6 months. but at curves & weightwatchers i was being weighed in. please give what information you know about that if you would. thanks so much
  21. Yes, please forward me the letter you wrote. Any information is helpful. Thanks
  22. Well yes that really does sucks!!!! Im still going to call my insurance company on monday just to make sure cause they sent me the requirements & it just said; these exact same words, The patient has been clinicall evaluated by an M.D. or D.O. who has documented failed medical management including a structured, professionally or physician-supervised weight-loss program for a minimum of six consecutive months prior to the recommendation for bariatric surgery. Saying nothing about with-in the previous year. Is you with BC/BS of Michigian? I know some BC/BS are different than others. Well when i call Monday i will let you know what they said. Thanks so much for your replies!

BCBS of Michigan 6 month diet

Hello. i have BCBS of Michigan & live in NC. Did you have to do the 6 month diet? Even if you had your last 5yrs weight record? This is just so confusing and frustrating. Also did they give you a preapproval. They told me that they do not do a preapproval. So how do they go about doing yours?? If you did the 6 month diet, how long did you have to wait to get the surgery?? I am so sorry for asking you so many questions but i need to know so i can go ahead & start my 6 month diet. please respond. thanks
  24. Hello all. I go thursday to see the surgeon, I guess he will decide if the surgery is right for me then he will make my other appointments like with the nutrioinist and so on. Anyways i was just wondering is ther anything special i need to ask him or talk to him about:confused2: I know i need to ask him for the procedure code and dianostic code, i have bcbs of mich. My insurance told me to ask for that & that will determine approval. What that is, i'm not sure:confused: Do i need to wear heavy cloths to up my weight a little bit?? i weigh 242lbs at 5'5 which makes my bmi right at 40. i am just so nervous right now. i know i want this surgery; lapband, but just scared:confused_smile: i have researching this for about 9 months now & feel as if i am ready. i want to start back working out but not to just fail again:sad_smile: will someone please give me some words of encourgement. i really need it right now. thanks to all.
  25. Hello all. I finally get to see the surdeon on 4/3. After a month of sending in my paper work I am now on my way to my journey:biggrin: After i see the surgeon then he will give me the rest of my appointments with the nutritionist & whoever else. I am just so releived that i am now getting things rolling. I have been over weight for the past 5 years or so with history of high blood pressure & my legs would swell & veins would pop. I am 34 yrs old & weigh 240lbs at 5'4. my bmi is 41. i sure hope & pray that everything goes well with this journey. I am a little nervous mabut my insurance. I have bcbs,of m michican & they told mme they don't do a preapproval. They say if i meet their requirements then it will be approved. But the only thing about that is when i have the surgery & they send it in & tHE insurance don't pay the its my responsibility:crying:. Anyways i will keep you posted on everything. thanks for your support:thumbs_up:
