  1. Horrible pain. I thought I was going to die from the pain.. lol. just when it got pretty bad, I blanked out, then woke up again to the same amount of discomfort, but no fear of death this time.. . I guess the morphine was starting to kick in.

    Cold Turkey Anyone?

Chew chew chew though.. never really practiced that. What's there to 'chew chew chew' in scrambled eggs? (I do that for kale though). I've been able to follow the 'no drinking while eating' instructions, mostly because I eat my proteins with vegetable stew.. [emoji3]
  3. It varies by state and insurance company. Call them to find out.
  4. Alcoholism is more common with Bypass patients... less with Band and Sleeve..
  5. Was sleeved a day before. Lost about the same amount of weight since then. Congratulations
  6. Sorry to hear about that. I had no issues with my incisions. Except for severe itchiness, which is part of the healing process anyway..

Screwed up on pre-op diet ?

You can do it! Don't think about the slip up again. Press forward. I was kind of forced to participate in a thanksgiving meal in the middle of my Pre-op. I didn't think twice about it. Made up for the 'slip up' by three extra days of cardio. The goal of the diet is to mobilize the liver to use up stored fat around it, so you should be alright. Brace up for the immediate Post-op period though. The cravings/temptations may come back hard, so you'll need all the mental strength you can garner. All the best

    2 months today

I was afraid of carbonated drinks myself, till I saw some researchers and surgeons talking about how irrelevant drinking carbonated drinks are down the line (drinks with zero sugar that is). I guess the initial worries are that you won't be able to meet fluid and protein gains because of all the gas
  9. I wasn't even trying to scare her. I was just trying to explain why we can't trust our bodies in the early post-op stages. Leaks can occur because of back pressure on the stapled edge as the stomach tries to push food through to the small intestine. Liquids don't need as much force to exit the stomach, that's why we're instructed to start with liquids. Furthermore, because the stomach is undergoing 'wound healing', pain signals may be masked.. hence the reason why we may not feel any adverse effects initially. The addendum was merely an axiom by someone I respect a lot, who likes to chip in that added warning to his post-op instructions. I apologize if anything was misconstrued. Still, post op instructions are always more 'compulsory' than they are 'optional'
  10. I am sorry but that is a statement borrowed from a general surgery professor. I was not referring to her. It is a general statement. Complications are expensive when one survives it... Did I say she had a complication?
  11. Not scaring you. People have died from leaks after advancing their meal plans. Not fables, reality.
  12. Technically what you did isn't 'cheating'. It is stressing your body. The meal plans are not dietary advice, they are post operative instructions. Your stomach, while tough, is still healing. It was 'cut in half' and the cut edge is being held together by 3 rows of staples. There's no need to irritate that edge by eating stuff that could force the stomach to do extra work. The fact is that even if you damaged something, you will likely not feel anything immediately . Your stomach has suffered major trauma in the form of surgery and it is still healing so it may not transmit signals properly for a while. Don't do it again. Complications are expensive.. (if you survive).
  13. I don't think many doctors will sleeve you twice. Too much room for complications. They will most likely tell you to try dieting, then probably attempt a different type of weight loss surgery..
  14. My apologies for calling your post a troll post. Please do not do it (self advance your diet) again. Complications are expensive, and that's even when you live through them..

    Help me

I really can't say how to lose 10lbs in one week.. but you can do meal replacements. Switch meals with protein shake for a week, and probably hit the gym 4 times. (You'll drop both water and a tiny bit of fat). It may mot be 10 lbs, but you'll definitely drop something..
  16. I for one think this is a troll post. Even at 3 weeks I had issues eating and drinking.. And i was consuming close to 100oz of fluids in my stage 1. Sorry but I don't believe you ate without any pain.. even if you were overdosing on oxycodone. In any case, desist from eating till you're ready for stage 4 post op diet, else you might spring a leak, or itritate your stomach sutures. It doesn't take much to injure a healing stomach.
  17. LoL.. nah. I felt the same way too, until it was time for solids. All the water goes straight through. Anyway, studies have shown that satiety with sleeves is mostly about feedback of stretch receptors to the brain (up to a certain point). People who struggle to drink 20oz a day probably just have more sensitive stretch receptors. Over time their activity will ease up. But to return to your complaint, I doubt that your sleeve is bigger than average..
  18. No issues here.. just very low iron.. which is surprising...
  19. Miralax + at least 70 oz of Water works for me. Some people add Fiber to their food. Otherwise some people take collace.

    Sf Jell-O cups

That is because people's plans vary usually by program/surgeon. Some programs are exclusively liquids, mine allowed one low calorie meal per day

    Post-op insomnia?!

Surgery disrupted my sleep cycle till I returned back to work. I slept only when I felt like it. I was afraid pain killers would mess up my sleep pattern so I took them sparingly..

    Bowel movement

Decided not to leave hospital till I had some form of bowel movement. Had one on the third day post-op and went home almost immediately after
