  1. Thanks Mini Me. Can you tell me about your recovery time, or any complications?

My mom and I both had the surgery, she felt great 3 weeks out, I didn't start feeling normal again until 3-4 months out. I didnt feel pain from the surgery, just discomfort which was mostly gas lol. That went away after a week. My complications came from me not drinking enough, its something you really have to do, even if you dont want to. I had to go back to the hospital twice for IVs, because I was very dehydrated. The room kept spinning and it was hard to get liquids down. It really is a different expience for everyone. Staying hydrated is very very important lol! Around month 4 I finally started meeting my liquid intake goals and feeling energetic, and since then, I havnt had any complications. I started around 226lbs at the time of surgery, and Im currently 108lbs. Im 5'2" and 30yrs old. Im very happy with my sleeve, Id go through those hard few months all over again if I had to, it was worth it. My quality of life has changed dramatically for the better.

  2. Its been a hard journey, and after losing weight, I'm scared of gaining it back. I see so many stories of people who have had the same surgery (sleeve) and gained back all the weight. Everyone keeps telling me that I've lost too much. I'm down to 102 lbs. I don't know how to find the right balance. Is this normal? I'm a little over 1 year out from surgery. I'm 5"2', 30yrs old.

  3. So I have a milestone birthday in a few days, and everyone is offering to go out and eat. Im almost 11 months post-op, I've reached my goal weight, and I have no interest in eating out. I feel like it is a waste, and to be honest my tastes have changed. My favorite food is an egg with peppers and onions. Eating out has become a little awkward for me. I don't enjoy eating out anymore and that seems to be all anyone wants to do to Celebrate things. Other than food, what do you do to celebrate?

My husband says I look sickly in the face and lost to much weight. My highest weight was 291. When I started my journey I was 263. SW 249 now today I am 180. Dr says I lost 82 pounds since I stepped into her office and I am looking good. I was looking to loose another 15 pounds, but today someone else said I look sickly. I thought I looked good. Now concerned about loosing another pound.
I ate a cupcake when I got home. I wanted to cry

You do not look sickly at all, you look absolutely beautiful! What's more important is how you are feeling. I started getting a lot of negativity from family and "friends" about losing too much weight, tbh I think they're just having trouble adjusting to my changes. The only people who's opinions really matter are you and your doctor. Keep up with what makes you feel good about your body, and dont let other people bring you down. You are gorgeous!

  5. You do need to call your surgeon, or maybe just go to the hospital. I had a similar experience. My head got a burning sensarion, i got dizzy, black spots temporarily blurring my vision. I was dehydrated and my blood pressure dropped too low, ended up in the hospital 3 days. I hope you feel better, just make sure you get checked out and stay hydrated

  6. I am pleased to say that I have reached my goal, yaaayyy. My goal weight was 150 lbs but I weighed myself this morning and I am 149.8 lbs. This has been a hard journey mentally but for me( many of you know I have gone thru a divorce as well ). My starting weight was 242lbs, day of surgery 12/5/16 I was 219 lbs, and 8 months later I am 149.8 lbs. 7 lbs away from almost losing 100 lbs. I feel so good right now about myself. Not just because of how I look but how I feel inside. I'm starting to love me flaws and all. I am working on the mental side of things with prayer and supplication. God is a healer and I'm trusting him to keep me. I thank all of you on this site for your support , it has been epic on this journey. I so truly appreciate you. The encouragement I received from total strangers has far outweighed what I received from family and friends. Thank you again. Hope u like the pics.

  8. Did u excercise or just been watching what u eat? If u have been excercising what excercises? I m 3 weeks out lost about 12 pounds, started excercise yesterday and seem to have stalled!

I've been exercising as well, i didnt start exercising until 2 months out when i was cleared by my surgeon. I do about 30min of cardio 3x a week (elliptical) and then i started lifting weights. I do arms and back 2 days a week, and leggs and abs 2 days a week. Sometimes i throw in a third day of abs if i can. I like working with free weights and body weight exercises like planks, curls, crunches, dips, ect. I do still feel a little weak from the surgery, but im trying to build up my strength. 12 lbs is good for 3 weeks, my surgeon told me the average is about 4lbs/week. I lost a lot faster, but i had a really tough time in the beginning and couldn't get much of anything down. It took about 2 months for me to be okay eating and drinking the recommended amount. I had stalls randomly too, but dont let it discourage you! Good luck on your journey!
