  1. Thank you for the insight and also for sharing your own experiences.

It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone in this, and that sometimes there's both internal and external battles we have to face through this journey.

I still feel frustrated about this conversation, but it also relates generally to her own issues with food (she used to restrict her eating and now feels anxious and sick when having to eat, so cannot understand why I would choose to have a surgery that "would make me feel sick after eating small amounts" despite repeated statements that this isn't how it works).

I have resigned myself to remembering that I have nothing to prove to her. She certainly won't be the first person I go to if I am struggling with anything relating to this.

It is difficult for others to understand this, and unless they've been in our position (I know even all our experiences differ to some level anyway!).

I'm also pleased that so many of you are overcoming these obstacles and standing strong, it's admirable. I'm slowly developing thicker skin (lol) but I'm sure there's still a way yet to go. If I could turn back time I probably wouldn't have shared, but that's done now.

Thank you again, your replies have been invaluable :) x

Don't regret telling her or any of your actions. It's a learning experience.

We all have at least that one person in our life who let us down/disappointed us.

  2. I'm 2 months post op now. I'm having shoulder pain or in not sure what to call it but my shoulders feel tired all the time.

When washing my face or teeth and leaning down at the sink I always get nauseated and get excessive saliva. Even when I lean down to get anything from a drawer/ laundry.

Regardless I wanted to unwind and relax so I'm booking a massage at the spa, I'm afraid I will get sick and not enjoy it. It's kind of expensive to me but I really want it. I need a reward for my hard work.

  3. Has any one experienced side nose veins after the wight loss? Mine showed up maybe at the second week. I noticed a lot of previously heavy people have them. I heard they have lasers for them but I'm not sure they have them where I live..

tell me what you know about this subject.

  4. First attempt before a year out= OUCH

Now at 2+ years out? All is well. Except sadly, beer. Something about the carbonation in beer makes me really uncomfortable and bloated.

I'm glad to hear it's all good with you right now! Do you remember when it started to go smoothly?

  6. My experience with carbonation has been like this:

Had tiny sip of Diet Pepsi and it gave me a crazy beating in my chest but I thought it was my nerves.

A couple of days later I did it again and nothing happened.

Different day, I had a bigger portion of Diet Coke ( quarter of a glass) again with the crazy beating but it didn't last for a long time.

So on a different day I tried quarter of a glass of 7up and I threw up a little and burped like crazy.

Today I tried Dr Pepper, and I must say I drank 3/4 of the can and it was a bad attempt I threw up so much and felt so sick and dizzy afterwords even my stomach and shoulders felt funny for hours.

I hope this helps I feel bad I can't drink carbonation at least for now but I may try again on a good day and I wish it goes well.

There are other sleevers who are more than a year post up say they drink carbonation everyday.

I my self is a recent sleever so I this maybe why my experience hasn't been great. also I must mention I suffer from excessive saliva after the surgery which isn't a common side effect and my doctor says he doesn't know why this is happening to me and that it is rare since he did a couple of leak tests and they were both ok.

Everybody please pray for me to get over this issue.

Please share your experience with carbonation and excessive saliva. and when did you first attempt to drink carbonation at which point of your sleeve journey.

Thanks and best of luck to all.

  7. As far as how long it will last, it varies per person, but these are things that resolve themselves with time. The "punched in the stomach" feeling sounds like your stomach may be too full. I get that feeling when I forget and gulp/guzzle Water.

How are you drinking your Water? My sleeve works best with ice cold. Some sleeves like room temp. You might try adding something to it... crystal light or Dasani flavor drops. It might soften the water a bit and not hit the stomach so hard.

Are you drinking too soon after having something else, like a Protein shake or something else? Sliming is usually a sign of being overfull. It could be a sign that your sleeve is still very swollen and you just don't have capacity.

If you do other liquids better (broth, tea, etc), make sure you're hydrating with them. Water can just be difficult for some. Like, I don't feel like water is a "soft" thing for our sleeves.

I tried cold/ice cold/ice/room temp I think they all have the same effect.

Usually I will only take a couple of sips after I eat.

But if I'm an hour before or after a meal I will try to drink as much as I can take. Honestly at that point I will not sip but I will drink normally.

As far as Protein shakes I haven't found a shake that works for me so I don't take them.

  8. Plz read and help with your experience

Here's how it is for me:

First week was fine no Water nausea no sliming.

Second to fourth week was hell so difficult to drink water and sliming like crazy!

Fifth week started ok but then I started to realize that I get a strange feeling after drinking water. Like some one punched me in the stomach. And still slimming!!!

When will this all go away!

  9. I drink carbonated diet beverages daily. I drank them with a straw for years, but I am now three-years post-op and I just drink them the way I used to- can, bottle, glass, whatever. Diet Dr. Pepper, Diet Pepsi, sugar free Red Bull, Diet Root Beer...I have no issues with carbonation. I lasted on the whole "no diet soda" rule for about 6 weeks and I've had it ever since.

You are saying that 6 weeks post op u started drinking carbonation with no issues?
