  1. I eat a lot of canned tuna or chicken mixed with some light mayo and a sprinkle of low fat cheese. OP, when I first started I could only eat a bite or two. I'm one week into it now and can eat a bit more - about two ounces at a time. And then it depends on the day. Yesterday I could eat quite a bit- easily two ounces at a time. Today I can only manage a few bites before I'm super full. I also really liked the ricotta bake, and I can have things like mashed potatoes and gravy, unsweetened applesauce...that may be all I've tried, lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. Congrats on the weight loss though...that's not so much as to be dangerous or anything and that's probably the most important thing!! As far as looking better for pounds shed, just be patient. 5. I've lost 35 pounds in three week, which includes the 1 week pre-op diet and two weeks post-op. My doctor and the staff are shocked and say that's on the high side. My starting weight was 244, weighed in at 209 at my 2 week post op appointment this Thursday. My OBSERVATION is that the before pic is way bigger than I was at my HW, though I'm not taking into consideration height because I don't know it. And man, wish I looked like the after pic after losing 35 pounds in three weeks. That is way smaller than the 209 I am. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I would call just to be sure, but I started having sinus issues which were making me nauseous and my doctor told me to take sudafed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

First day of solids nausea :(

I just started this phase yesterday so I haven't tried them yet, but my NUT said its the yolk that gives people a hard time. So I could see those as a better, gentler option provided the yolk was not eaten. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Congratulations! My doctor said that while 12-18 months is recommended, babies come at any time and it is perfectly safe. He said he had one mom show up to her 6 week post-op appointment pregnant with twins and it was a normal, healthy pregnancy, and that was ten years ago. I think they really suggest the 18 months so you can get the full benefits of the wls, because you should be fully healed by 6 weeks, and for several months there won't be any impact on your stomach as the baby is in the womb. Just keep in contact with your NUT for nutritional guidance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

First day of solids nausea :(

I started solids today as well, surgery was 1/4. At my appointment with my NUT today, she said eggs used to be on the plan for this stage but they've found they make a lot of people sick. I've been nauseous all week, dehydrated, and thankfully one of the things I surprisingly can have is reduced fat ritz crackers, which have helped immensely, along with the 2 bags of fluids they gave me at the hospital through the iv. Can Sleeve Stretch

My doctor said it cannot - that the portion being removed is the portion that was designed to stretch. However, what's left can "give" a little if constantly pushed to the limits, but it won't stretch like the portion removed could. This is why you can reset the sleeve if your eating habits go south. When can i pick up my kids again?

I've been picking up my 27 pound daughter since three days post op. The first day I didn't bend to pick her up though, but the next day I did. My doctor said there are no lifting restrictions with laparoscopic surgery, just nothing extreme like jet skis or atvs for a few weeks. He said I really can't injure anything unless I eat off the plan. I've not had any pain or issues from carrying her, which is quite a bit. In fact, she slept on me the first night I was home from the hospital. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. This is going to vary so much. I never had any pain after the day of surgery and haven't had any meds for pain since, and I also had a hernia repair. I did find my abdomen to be slightly tender when attempting to bend over for a few days, but I'm 6 days post op now and feel fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

No leak test - self pay

My doctor also doesn't do a leak test. He's the medical director at a bariatric center for excellence. I'm not sure why, I didn't think to ask at the time but now I'm curious. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    VSG pain vs. c-section pain?

I had a pretty easy recovery from a c-section, but even with that, the vsg was a cake walk. I have had no pain whatsoever, though I am constantly battling nausea and can't keep up with my liquids and Proteins at four days post op. I also can sleep on my side, have no issues with walking, and have not had any gas pains. I'm already fully caring for my 1 year old easily, she even sleeps on me and there is no discomfort. Really the two cannot compare. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Does it get better?

Pushing it is the last thing on my mind! Right now I can't stomach anything I am so nauseous. I've been nauseous since the surgery but what they were giving me in the hospital helped but that was after they would try Zofran and phenogren. They sent me home with Anna grande and that does not touch the nausea. I can barely drink anything because I feel like I'm going to get sick at any second. Does it get better?

I'm right there with ya, also sleeved on the fourth. I would say today has been my worst day in terms of getting liquids down. I just can't stomach anything today. I've had a couple ounces of broth and a few sips of Protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. This is the same person who spoke of eating Chinese food and part of a piece of pizza less than two weeks post op. OP, be careful! Your stomach hasn't healed yet . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I'm only three days post op and had hernia repair as well. I did fine the first day and was doing super the second day when all of a sudden that pressure was in my chest every time I had a sip. The nurse seemed to recognize right away what the issue was and gave me a med for esophageal spasms. I wasn't sure how she got spasms from me saying I felt like there was a ball in my chest, a tightness like the liquid was stopping tight there, but within minutes of taking it, I felt better. January 4 surgery

My surgery was on the 4th (yesterday ), and I feel fantastic. It's probably the meds, lol. Yesterday I was so out of it, slept off and on all day and night. I did have stomach pain yesterday, but when I found out I could push the button on my pain pump once every ten minutes, not once an hour, the pain was gone within half an hour and stayed gone. I'm sure they told me once every ten minutes from the start, but I was so loopy, everything's a blur. Still a little loopy today, but not too bad. I'm definitely more alert today. My biggest issue has been nausea, but thankfully meds have helped with that and they think it's probably from the anesthesia. I'm getting all my liquids in now that the nausea is gone. I drank ten ounces from 1-2 today. On that note, I highly recommend nectar Protein drinks. You would never know they're Protein Drinks - they taste more like cool laid or cold hot chocolate. I'm also walking laps every hour. Hoping this is the way it will be from here on out. I'm no longer on the iv, so no more dilauded either - I'm on liquid meds now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App How'd your surgery go? Mine went well, and I also had a hiatel hernia repair. My biggest issue has been nausea but my surgeon ordered something stronger than what they were giving me, and now I feel fantastic. Oddly enough, my biggest concern was being away from my baby, but now I'm choosing to stay a second night because I know I'm not yet up to caring for her. She's in good hands, and I get one more night of pampering. So excited for this process!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Weight gain while waiting!

I actually did gain weight before the pre-op diet, about 11 pounds altogether, but I lost four at the end. I was starting out on the verge of not qualifying, so they didn't restrict me and were weary of me losing any, and then I also went to Disney for two weeks...so, yeah, I gained weight. To be honest, I almost feel like I could have gained more and they would have still went through with the surgery. It felt like it was just a formality that needed to be completed.
