  1. Lately I've been struggling with this question a lot. After getting the band, wow, three years ago next May, I lost a lot of weight and fairly fast, although the last, oh year and a half, I've been dealing with so much depression and stress, haven't gone to the doctors at all, no follow ups or anything after the first year, I've been eating like crazy and hardly working out at all after a devestating knee injury that prevents me from doing almost any cardio. Luckily, I have only gained maybe 10 pounds back, bringing my total weight loss in 2 1/2 years to about 45 pounds or so. I'm not sure whats really causing all of this, I worry that I've totally destroyed my band, some days I can eat an entire pizza, other days three small bites of chicken will make me "slime" for an hour. I know I need to get checked out desperately, but I'm so terrified of actually having my failure out there in front of my doctor (who I haven't seen in forever and probably thinks I moved or died or something.) Getting the lapband so young, I know that I really wasn't ready or perhaps it was the wrong choice for me. I still eat, out of boredom, depression, and just simply that I love food and lots of it. I know I'm stupid for ruining this opportunity, I'm such an "avoider."

  2. Hey everyone! Its been forever since I've been on here, busy busy busy with school and 2 jobs and an ever growing social life, I can't complain though, I'm down 55 pounds and feel more comfortable with myself than I ever have. I still have about 50 more to go before I am at goal, but I'm a little more than halfway there and only about 6 months out, yay!

  3. I finally lost a couple pounds! About 5 in the last week, since my second fill. I hadn't lost anything in weeks so it was a relief to see the scale move, although I know theres no way I can loose any significant weight until I hit the gym! I haven't had a day off in months, so whenever I don't have to go to work until late, I sleep as late as I can then do errands and such, if I have to work in the morning I'm exhausted by the time I get out (I'm a banquet waitress...) I work two jobs and usually end up working one in the morning then the other in the night, its so hard to find time to breath, forget go work out! When school starts I'm hoping to maybe get on some kind of schedual at work so my life is a little easier to deal with.

  4. I've only lost about 35 pounds and right now my boobs look nice, but I can already tell they are deflating. I used to not be sure, but I've always been known as the girl with the huge knockers lol. If they were seriously deflated and droopy I would def get some kind of lift, maybe with an implant. I want to have nice big boobs that look like 20 year old boobs, not 70 year old boobs~! lol

  5. Congrats to everyone! I on the other hand haven't lost a pound in about 3 weeks, but I've been so busy I've only gone to the gym like, twice and have been eating as much of and whatever I want, I'm always starving!!! I'm not too worried though, I've been to busy to worry! I go for another fill on the 20th, maybe that will help with the constant hunger pangs

  6. I went to the doctors today and apparently I am down 8 pounds from my last visit exactly 2 weeks before! SO even though I've didn't really think I had been eating that well lately, he didn't think I needed another fill and told me to wait for our next visit 3 weeks from now for my 2nd fill. Yay I'm so pumped! Although the doctors scale is always like, 2 pounds less than my electronic one... hmmm...

  7. Ugh so last night I went to the movies and we snuck Snacks in (rebels!!) hehe. I brought a big bag of cheddar chex mix and ate like, half the bag while we were sitting there! I wasn't even that full afterwards! Tomorrow I go to the doctor and I'm going to ask for another fill. I got home this morning and weighed myself, I had been at a steady 197 all week and I was 197.5, laaame.

  8. I can answer that last question, Regardless of what you're going back to, I think you need a good few days, I was banded early on a Thursday morning, I felt good when I went home Friday morning, but as soon as the morphine wore off, I was miserable until around Monday, and went back to school on Tuesday, but it was still really uncomfortable to even just sit in a desk for a couple hours. I had a lof of problems with nausea and dizzyness, but everyone is different, its really up to you and how your body reacts to things. I would just recommend making sure you can get more than a day or two off from work, just to be safe.

  9. Hey there! Oh my goodness I remember feeling what you're feeling! The early hours of the morning before my surgery I couldn't sleep, and was also on this website freaking out lol. I don't think I have too many words of wisdom, everything went by pretty fast, and you'll be doped up the entire time lol. The worst part was before surgery, and that was just the nerves. Make sure you have someone there to hold your hand! After that I'm sure you will be well taken care of by the hospital staff  Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

  10. I just got back from my best friends house, I had to pick her little sister up from a concert because of all the storms here and then brought her home just as my best friends mom was getting home from work. I looked like crap and was just in my pajamas, but when her mom saw me, she couldn't get over how thin she thought I looked. Personally I don't really see it, but I do see myself everyday, she doesn't see me as much and hadn't seen me in a few weeks, she made me do a couple spins and then said how proud she was of me. Even though she can be hard on me I was glad she is recognizing my efforts, with the help of my band of course. :)

  11. I can eat whatever I want, but I've only had one tiny tiny fill so far and I can tell that its not working at all lol. I'm eating slightly smaller portions, but nothing really noticeable. Either something is wrong with my band (hopefully not), or its the fills that really make a difference in how much you can eat and how full you stay. I chew well and eat slower, I was being really really cautious at first, but once I noticed I have no restriction I eat the same foods I did pre-band pretty much, just less of it, although I'm pretty picky, all I really eat is chicken, Soup, cheese and crackers, and sometimes things like mac n cheese and spagettios, I don't think many people have problems with most of these foods.

  12. Right now my best friends mom is going through all the pre-stuff for getting the RNY surgery. She's filling my friends head with all these negative things shes "knows" about the lap band, like how apparently having the lap band makes it easier to "cheat" and how you can't eat any of the foods you like. People are just ignorant and need to be educated. Unfortunately some people are just stuck in their ignorance and refuse to aknowledge that they might be wrong about something. A few of my friends parents have had the RNY done, some have had tons of success, a couple are bigger now then they were pre-surgery. No surgery is a miracle cure-all. People have to work at loosing weight. When people are being stupid and judgemental, I just try to ignore them. I know that I have made the right decision.

  13. Hey Kay! I was also banded on May 29th!!!! I have managed to loose about 30 pounds all together, 10 pre-op and about 20 post-op. I had my first fill a week ago and haven't really felt any restriction, I feel like I'm getting hungrier and hungrier every day! I'm thinking about calling tomorrow and asking to get another fill. I know what you mean about the fruits and veggies thing, I have been nervous to try certain things. Although, I am pretty much eating any foods I want. I lost most of the weight eating Soup, I was eating a lot of chicken noodle up until about 2 weeks ago. Keep in touch and let me know how everythings going!!
