Just banded today 6/20/06 yeah!
Grats Shantel!! Welcome to Bandland! It will take some time to figure out what real hunger is now. If youre anything like me, I never allowed myself to feel real hunger because I was always stuffing food into my pie hole. *snickers* Sip on your Water and Protein shakes whenever you get hungry. And it is normal to be hungry more often when you are on liquids. Don't worry about how much you're eating/drinking right now. Chances are, you aren't getting anywhere near 800 calories yet. So drink when you need to and focus on healing. You've gotten some good advice so far. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. And remember not to over-do it, which is easy to do when you feel so good but you must allow those stitches to heal and your band to get settled in before you do too much.

GFG Club - Guess Funny's Apron Weight
At Funny's request, we are opening this game to all of LBT, not just GFG Club members. I tried to edit the title and remove the GFG Club - but it's still showing. Anyway... if we get a large response, I will add 1/4 pound options.

Gone for Good Club - June 2006
I got a fill (.5cc) on Tuesday and today is my first day on solids again. So far so good. *knock on wood* I am being forced to slow down and chew my food well again. And a meal that was going down quickly and leaving me wanting more, once again fills me up! Yay! I've eaten three meals today, all 4 hours apart and I had a 100 calorie bag of popcorn today, but that wasnt from hunger. Just wanted it. Feels good to know that band is in there doing its job again!

GFG Club - Guess Funny's Apron Weight
** Caution!! This thread contains uncouth humor and partial nudity. If you are easily offended, please close this thread and move on.** As many of you know FunnyDuddies will be having apron removal surgery on July 7th. We have decided to take this opportunity to have some fun at her expense. Below are pictures of Funny prior to her surgery. At the time of surgery, the surgeon will weigh and record how much skin and tissue is removed. We are going to give you all a chance to guess how many pounds that will be! The person who guesses the correct number of pounds that will be removed from Funny's tummy will win a sweet prize from Mexico, purchased by Funny herself! Also, Funny will be posting after pictures when she gets home from Mexico. Attention!! Please read the latest update from Funny before continuing. She has been informed that she won't be able to have the apron surgery done as she had hoped. I will hang onto the numbers though, and we will try to figure out how to continue this game. I plan to keep this anonymous, so if you wish to play, PM me with the number you choose. I will keep track of the numbers chosen, and place an X by any numbers which are no longer available. You may choose from any of the numbers below. The winner may decide whether he or she wants their name announced. Good luck to all who participate, and best wishes to Funny for a successful surgery and quick recovery. 1.0_____1.5_____2.0_____2.5_____3.0_____3.5_____4.0_____4.5_____ 5.0_____5.5__X__6.0__X__6.5__X__7.0__X__7.5__X__8.0_____8.5__X__ 9.0__X__9.5_____10_____10.5_____11_____11.5__X__12__X__12.5__X__ 13_____13.5__X__14__X__14.5_____15__X__15.5_____16__X__16.5__X__ 17__X__17.5___X__18__X__18.5_____19__X__19.5__X__20_____20.5__X__ 21__X__21.5_____22__X__22.5__X__23_____23.5_____24__X__24.5_____ 25__X__25.5_____26_____26.5_____27__X__27.5_____28_____28.5_____ 29_____29.5_____30_____30.5_____31_____31.5_____32_____32.5_____ 33_____33.5_____34_____34.5_____35_____35.5__X__36_____36.5_____ 37_____37.5_____38_____38.5_____39_____39.5_____40_____40.5_____

I Need Help and Advice!
Heyas Denika, Yup, my husband (Dawg) has lost 72 pounds along with me. Basically, he eats his own food and not what I eat. Mostly because he doesn't like the same things I like but also because he needs larger quantities since he isn't banded. I was afraid of having to cook his meals and facing the temptaion to eat things I shouldn't, so we talked about it prior to my banding and decided he would try Healthy Choice meals for his dinners. He loves them. He can fix his own dinner in minutes. He gets a wide variety of foods he enjoys, and he never has to worry about making the choices because they are all good meals. For Breakfast, we pack him a can of DelMonte Lite peaches or fruit coctail and sometimes a container of Fiber One Cereal with 1/2 cup of milk. Other times, he takes Quaker Healthy Heart Instant oatmeal. For lunches, he usually relies on tuna. He carried the Starkist Tuna lunch packs for a long time. I have also packed him a nice large salad to which he will add a can of tuna and some fat free dressing. He also has a Pop Secret 100 pack of popcorn in the evenings for a snack. Sometimes I will cook a roast in the crockpot, or some chicken on the grill. We also LOVE pork steaks marinated in Sesame Ginger and cooked on the grill. When I make these meats, we usually have a bowl of fresh fruits or a salad to complete the meal. We have both sworn off all sugar and flour products. We both drink at minimum of 64oz of Water per day. And we are both slackers about exercise! *laughs* We are trying though. We bought a treadmill and got a gym membership. I think we are going to start swimming in the mornings before Dawg goes to work. There's a good example of positive thinking! LOL Anyway, I hope this has helped. I can tell you that your husband will have to want this for himself and for you before he will be able to achieve the same success as Dawg has. This wasn't something I talked him into or made him do so it would be easier for me. This was something HE wanted as badly as I wanted my band. And he's the same way - refuses surgery or pills.

Walking / Jogging
Is there a good video to watch while on the treadmill? Something that perhaps gets more than your legs moving and makes the time go by faster? My problem is that I get so darn bored.

Errr... I think that was Heather that posted the bridesmaid dress pic. So... are we even sure Kristin is getting married? Maybe it was Lins that's getting married and Telly is the bridesmaid? *snickers*

can i vent for a moment?
Banded, unbanded, RNY or DS... we are all here with the same wishes and dreams and goals. To live long healthy lives without being consumed by the issues that excess weight brings to our lives. You are one of us. *hugs* Kudos to you for being strong enough to do this on your own! And man do I relate to the obsession part. This weightloss journey has consumed 95% of my waking thoughts, partly because of my personality (disorders hehe). I would think that if you are making wise food choices and being active, you could now begin to relax and allow your body plenty of time to adjust to the new you. As we get closer to our goal weight, each pound has a much larger impact on our overall makeup. In other words, when we are at 300 pounds, its easy to lose 10 pounds and most of us can't even tell we've lost it. But get that close to goal and 10 pounds makes a remarkable difference on our smaller frames. If you only lost 1 pound per month now, why would that be a bad thing? Why is there a hurry to get there? (yeah, yeah, I heard that *winks*) My point is that with each pound you lose now, you will see a huge difference. Think of each pound as being equal to 10 pounds when you were heavier. It takes time and as you exercise you build muscles which weigh more, even though they take up less room. Also, you might consider that its more important to look and feel good than it is to make the scale read a certain number. If you know you could stand to lose that 10 pounds, then relax... eat well... get active... and really enjoy your year. Each pound you lose will make a huge difference in your clothes, so it will be a fun progression. Best of luck to you.

My one year bandiversary!
Wow, Karen. First.. congratulations on a year of amazing accomplishments in your physical and emotional life. You should be very proud of yourself. I really understand those head deamons and the fear of being a new you. Let me know if your therapist has passed on any gems that have helped you. I'm not to proud to beg for scraps. *grins* Secondly, congrats on your diligence and determination. It's paying off for you in a big way. Just shy of a hundred pounds. Dang, that is just plain awesome! And last of all.. I quote you "But today I see my surgeon for my one-year check up and I'm hoping to have a new fear of god blasted right into me." Err.. hasn't anyone told you to be careful about wishing for this kind of thing? Don't you know that God is listening?! *laughs* Looks like you got just what you asked for. Did your Dr do an unfill? What's the plan for healing? Are you on liquids now? Please let us know what happens with that ok? Thank you for sharing this. I read every word - twice. It meant a great deal to me. A very happy Bandiversary to you. *big happy hugs*

Carnie Wilson
Geeze, how frightening to start regaining when you've had surgery that changed you for life. I know she must be very grateful for her new life that the weight loss has given her, but man I'd sure hate to be looking at a 40 pound gain after going thru surgery like that. Hopefully, she will be able to keep it under control with a trainer and will power. She'll be in my prayers along with all the rest of us who struggle with weight.

Gone for Good Club - June 2006
I just wanted to stop and give special recognition to our Spring Challenge winner, Mychevygirl - DeAnn. She has lost 90 pounds, most of which was done pre-band during stressful times of her father being in and out of the hospital, nearly losing him several times. I know I've mentioned this before, but I haven't stopped being amazed by this woman's determination and faith. Luckily for me, we are becoming good friends and live close enough to spend time together. We are planning a shopping weekend in Seattle this October. Anyway, I just wanted to hold her up for the group to see a real example of strength and beauty. If you don't know DeAnn yet, do yourself a favor and get to know her. She has a heart of gold. Love ya, DeAnn. *hugs*
