Did you lose weight before your first fill?
PhotoNut replied to sleepyjean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 29 pounds between surgery and my first fill which was six weeks after surgery. -
*snicker* I remember Kim 8 making a joke about accidentally putting her folded underwear in the linen closet with pillow cases - natural mistake, dont you think? TommyO - I've been thinking and thinking about the bridge ceremony. It sounds wonderful. Is it ok if I take a can of keorosene and matches with me? *winks*

Big Huge Sighs of RELIEF!!! I'm SO glad everything turned out ok. Geesh Mini. *hugs* Can I cry now? I always fall apart AFTER the crisis is over. *goes off to a quiet place to cry*

I take Centrum chewables. They kind of taste like chocolate orange. Ok, thats a big stretch of the imagination... but I'm entitled! I used to take two Flinstones, but one Centrum has more than two Flinstones and its cheaper!

Today is weigh in for the entire GFG club. Today will be your ending weight on your Spring Challenge scorecards. Today will also be your beginning weight on your June Challenge scorecards. I will get the June thread up (that will include new blank scorecards) sometime this afternoon so everyone can get started. Grats Heather on that big drop! Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
PhotoNut replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
We finally talked him into it! Yay! I need to buy my man some clothes that fit! - P'nut -
Amy's not banded yet, but she'll be going to Dr. Sanchez in Monterey. Rumbaut and Sanchez are the only two Drs in Mexico that I would recommend based on heresay. (dont anyone get mad at me now ) I had mine done locally mostly because it never occurred to me to go far from home for surgery. Just be very certain that you have good LOCAL follow-up care set up and that you can get back to your surgeon IF something goes wrong that requires more serious medical attention. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Hiya Divamsm, welcome to LBT! We do try to keep things interesting around here. And sometimes we even succeed. Welcome to the family! And let me hook you up with some other threads and sites about the band that will be helpful. Surgery Video and Q&A: This is a recorded Web Cast of a Lap Band surgery. The surgeons provide a lot of basic information and answer a LOT of questions from the viewers. The video shows the placement of the lap band via laparoscopic camera and also shows the positioning and attachment of the port. It's not gory at all, but it is surgery so watch with caution: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3190472028990485080&q=lap+band Questions to ask your Dr before getting banded: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15595

I dont think you'll regret that decision at all. Best wishes for your future and keep us posted on how things are going for you. (I would have done it too! yay!)

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
PhotoNut replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Ok, here goes. The horrid - never seen by human eyes outside of my home - before shots with the progress so far.... In my defense, those first shots were 10 days after surgery and I was recovering from a lot more than band surgery. I really didn't give a hoot what I looked like. I was already down 20 pounds in those first pics. About 100 lbs to go! -
Holy smokes! Geezer, get off those pills.. pronto!

*nods and smiles from the sidelines, singing quietly* I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind. It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day. It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day. Oh yes, I can make it now the pain is gone. All of the bad feelings have disappeared. Here is the rainbow I've been praying for. It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day. (ooh...) Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies. Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies. I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. Here's the rainbow I've been praying for. It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day. It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day. Real, real, real, real bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day. Yeah, hey, it's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright) sunshiny day. *winks at Sue* (I really do hope you have a sense of humor, Sue!)

I was so tempted to just pop on here and reply "Yes!" without reading the post. *snickers* Hmm.. I wouldn't advise you to do anything unethical or illegal, but student loans are also for helping people live while going to school. Perhaps you need the band to live? *snickers* You should check with the School's insurance and see what they cover. I knew of a gal who was getting approval for the bypass surgery via school insurance. Not sure if they've woken up to the benefits of the band yet though. Never hurts to ask. Good luck! (Adding to this: I was raising kids when I went back to school. I took the loans and bought Christmas, a tv for our home, and clothes. If I had only me to think of, I would use the money to better my health. In a heartbeat. Unless it were illegal. But thats just me.)

Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain
PhotoNut replied to Jersey Jesse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LisInBoston - PB stands for Productive Burp, a nice name given to a not-so-nice event which occurs when people eat foods that refuse to go through the band and become "stuck". This often producing an excess of saliva secretion to help move the food through. Since the food is already stuck there is no swallowing that saliva so it often fills the mouth and has to be spit out (sliming). Some PBs happen quickly, with the food just coming back up with no pain or effort, while other more sever cases include pain and take some time to resolve. The pain is compared to getting a large airbubble or golfball stuck in your esophagus, just behind the breastplate. You are not derprived of air during this time, as the food isnt stuck in airways. There are many foods that are known to cause PBs for bandsters. Those include, but arent limited to: Breads pastas salad Fruit with thick skins (grapes, oranges, etc) Steak or ground beef chicken Usually, meats can be dipped in juice or sauces to make them moist enough to eat. Dry meats are usually a problem.
