Do you ever just get weary?

Right on, Mary! :clap2: I have had days when I sigh and feel sorry for myself because I can't go drown my sorrows in that big juicy burger and fries that I just know Ronald McDonald is holding out to me with a big smile. But then, I think about what Mary just said and I remember how sick I would feel afterwards. Not just physically sick, but emotionally sick. It was after I finished stuffing myself with the "comfort" food (and trust me, I fully believed it was my comfort) I often spent an hour or two mentally bashing myself for being so gross and fat and weak for doing it yet again. So, yeah, it does get a bit old at times, but the trade off is worth the down days. And ya know what? It's ok to whine. We all have our days of whining and moaning, but thank goodness they are outnumbered by the days of rejoicing the NSV's we experience. Hairagain - Grats on that 32 pound loss!! How are ya feeling today? Any better? Need a hug? Try focusing on the victories. The bennies of your weight loss. I'm sure there are many. And remember, this too shall pass!

    !!!!PLEASE HELP!!!! Overfill

I've seen a lot of posts with similar stories. "I could drink just fine in the Dr's office but on the way home the band got so tight I couldn't swallow my own spit." Logic tells me that it could be swelling. You won't become dehydrated ovenight. See how it is in the morning and if it's not better get yourself in for a slight unfill. Sometimes just .5cc is enough to make a huge difference but still keep the right amount of necessary restriction. Since you have been having problems with this most of the day, I wouldn't try to drink anymore for the rest of the night. There's no sense in trying to push the issue and make yourself sick. Good luck, Magic. Let us know how you're doing.

    Committment Thread to lose weight

*laughs* You fell up the stairs? Forget the scissors! It's a good thing you didn't have the Starbucks in your hand! What a waste that would have been! My daughter called me on her way to school this morning. She had just dropped her hubby off at work and her boy off at pre-school. She sounded stressed and tired and then.. she said, "Oh god, there's a Starbuck's sign. The day just got better!" *laughs* Today has also been very emotionally draining for me. I've had a bowl of chili at Red Robin with LindaV, and for dinner I had some watermelon and some coleslaw. Crappy day for protein. I haven't walked on the treadmill, but I think it would do me good to force myself. I've only had two bottles of water and the idea of drinking 4 more tonight is daunting. But I'm going to try. Days like these... it's really hard to give a crap. Hey Penni.. That salad you eat sounds incredible. Do you make it yourself or is it a premade thing?

Who decides that I am unbalanced???

Wow, great timing for this thread. Back in December I had to take the psych test. It was a battery of questions that were all answered on a computer. The questions ranged from what I felt was relevant to the absurd. After completing the test, the counselor put my answers into a program and that program decided whether or not I was a good candidate for banding. The tests showed depression. I wanted to say "Well duh. I could have told you that and saved myself $400!" Three weeks prior to the psych test, I had, under my primary care doctor's guidance, begun taking Effexor to help with the depression. Since it takes a good six weeks for these kinds of meds to have their full affect, the counselor agreed to allow me to retake the test in another three weeks - which I did and passed. The band is designed to be a tool. It is not a cure all for the emotional problems which often lead to overeating. Making sure the recepient of the band is going to be capable of using that tool to its maximum potential is much the same as fixing a carpenter's broken hand before putting a hammer in it and expecting him to build a house. Answer the questions honestly and without worry. Your goal here is to overcome the issues which got you here in the first place. Treating your whole self will help you be more successful in your journey to good health. Best wishes.

I like the milestones thingy Telly. You should add dates to them if you can. Of course, pictures always add to the story and I love the ones you chose for your milestone thing!

Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Woohoo! I just got back from a lovely three-hour lunch with LindaV which was just what I needed today. What a sweetheart you are Linda! I always have so much fun getting together with you. That three hours just flew by! The food was good, the company was better, and the break was refreshing. I want to thank everyone who responded with such care and support to my posts. I would like to say, just so you don't worry, that I am not an alcoholic nor a drug addict. I take Effexor for the depression that most obese people battle, and because of some enormously emotional events in my life over these past few months, I have enjoyed escaping on the patio in the evenings with some wine to relax. My fill Dr did not refuse to give me a fill, what he did was care about me and offered support and help like many of you have done. You are all a wonderful bunch of people, and I'm sorry for what occurred in our GFG Club thread today. Anyway, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I really do love you guys! And Linda? You owe me lunch! *smiles*

    Christmas Lovers Thread

I think I'm ready to start Christmas now. The wonderful smell of the tree mixed with the pickling spices simmering on the stove top. I miss having a real fireplace. We have one but its a small gas one. In our previous home, we had a huge brick fireplace with a real mantle and hearth. Many a night we all sat around a roaring fire. I do miss that. I'm ready for the feel of the season. It always comforts me. I'm ready for greenery and red bows and little white lights. I'm ready for snow and quilts and Bing Crosby. How many days do we have left?? Do you think it would be weird to get started in September? *smiles sadly* Perhaps I'll pretend it's snowing while I'm eating a bowl of chili with Linda at Red Robin. :scalesno:

*sighs* Youre right Kathy. Sorry everyone. I'll not be responding or trying to defend myself. People can think what they want. It really doesn't matter. 221.5 (-85.5 lbs total, -.5 this week)
  19. Jeezus. I am NOT a drugg addict, nor am I an alcoholic. I have NOT inundated you with PMs for months now. In fact this thread is the first time I've even noticed you were around in months and I was only trying to help and welcome you back to Boise if you were moving back. You are being vicious Dody and I've NEVER done anything to you. The reason you got mad at me is because you flew off the handle at the Mods for not deleting a post which harshly attacked me, and then when you didn't think my husband and I were going to back you up in your hysterical rantings at the Mods, you blew up at me and sent me tons of PMs telling me that my husband wasn't defending me and how your husband would have handled it differently. I tried to explain to you that my husband and I both felt the Mods had done their job and done it well. We weren't offended by them, why on earth should you be? I never asked you to defend me. I never asked you to be my best friend. I never attacked you. I never followed you around on threads and tried to destroy your reputation and make you look like a nutcase. But that's what you seem intent on doing now. I hope you enjoy it. You have become that which you were so upset over when you defended me way back then. Bravo. I will not respond to anymore of your posts. I will not be part of the insanity that you and a few others continue to bring to LBT.

Nice Dody. I tried to let you know that it would be nice to have you back in Boise and that you'd be welcome at the support group meetings and you and 3Loves started in on me for no reason. And I did nothing behind your back. In fact, I did say you were a psycho on the board, but I deleted it in an attempt to get things to calm down. And it was not a threat - the Mods and Alex WERE cc'd on that PM (which I told 3Loves in the PM) because I'm concerned that between you, her, and one other person, things are going to get mean on LBT again. None of us need that. 3Loves is doing nothing but fueling the fire and she knows it. She has gone out of her way to stir tension and dispute and everyone sees it. Now, you have had your fun talking about my psych test, my drug and alcohol abuse, which is funny how you took that and ran with it to make me look like a falling down drunk drug addict - I had to laugh at that - so now do us all a favor and go back to being quiet will ya? I had forgotten how volatile you can be. Had I remembered, I wouldn't have tried to extend a hand of "friendship" to you in the other thread.

    Gotta change my behavior...HELP!

Good start - rid the house of foods that will be deadly if found by your roving hands at a time like this! *laughs* Pop secret has 100 calorie bags. Regular or Kettle Corn. Very good, and if you eat one piece at a time, it takes quite a while. I don't consider a snack a meal, so do not apply the "no drinking" rule. I have a nice glass of iced tea with lemon and splenda while I eat my popcorn. There is also watermelon. Very filling but a bit on the sweet side, so be careful about it causing more cravings. I believe watermelon is about 50 calories per cup. But the best thing you can do, is grab a can of tuna, drain it, add 2 tablespoons of fat free thousand island dressing. Drop that onto a nice bowl of lettuce and take your sweet time munching through that salad. The added Protein will help tons. Dawg used to make himself eat a can of tuna everytime he felt the need to snack. Eventually, when his mind would start to think about snacking it would immediately think "Tuna" and the cravings would go away. *laughs*

    please help me get information

Hi Cassie! Welcome to LBT. I'll put a few links with some great info in them on here for you. Let me also say that I've been banded for about 7 months now, have lost 89 pounds and no problems at all. The basic problems a bandster faces are eating too fast and food getting stuck (which sometimes can cause nausea and vomiting.. but not like the flu, its just the food coming back up) and being filled too tight which can be adjusted. Too tight of a fill can cause problems with being able to eat good solid foods, can give you heartburn, and passible cause the band to slip. There's a lot to learn, so give yourself plent of time to soak up all of the info you can. This is an hour-long video of an actual surgery and the surgeons go over many many facts about the banding process. Great info. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3190472028990485080&q=lap+band This link is to a thread on LBT which gives folks question to ask before banding. Often times, we just don't know what questions to ask, so this is very helpful. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=20271 Here is a website of one of the LBT members that I really admire, MuffinBirdies. I think you'll find her story very inspiring and she has a lot of great links listed on her site too. http://www.myagb.homestead.com/index.html LBT Members who have lost 100 pounds or more. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16050 Oh yes.. Inamed is the maker of the lapband that is approved for use in the US. Here is their webpage that has great info as well. http://www.lapband.com Good luck and feel free to ask lots of questions!
