    9 days post-op

Mine has always been mild, nothing crazy and most of it was due to how I ate which was so horrible and obviously led to all my weight gain. I didn't really have to take medicine before surgery except for the rare occasion my food sat horrible with me. This is a new kind of burn though. My surgeon knew all about this and knew all other factors about my health and agreed the sleeve would be a good choice. So I don't feel in confident about my choice of surgery, just wasn't sure how common it was to have acid attacks in the middle of the night. I didn't think about the lying flat so I will try sleeping elevated tonight, thank you! 2. Hey y'all! I have had a hard time the last few nights with waking up to what feels like a MASSIVE stomach acid attack in my throat lol. I have had GERD/heartburn most of my life, and I take my medicine daily like I should. I just think it's weird it didn't start until the last 2 or 3 nights and it always only happens once but it's so severe it wakes me up. Anyone experience this? 3. 6 days out and I am still struggling with getting in liquids. I haven't had much of anything substantial since before my surgery on Monday, so I managed to eat 1 yogurt today and 1 sugar free Popsicle, and I have been having constant ice chips today as well as a bit of water and half a protein shake. I am hoping it continues to get better each day :(

Thank you, it can just be very discouraging and I just really don't want to get severely dehydrated so it has me panicking.

Keep sipping water, I know how hard it is for sure! I do best with cold water but some people do better with room temperature or even warm water. Hang in there, it gets better!

Sip, sip, sip. I know it's no fun, but it is important. Everything will continue to improve over the coming days and weeks.

  7. @@Teeman15 Thanks! This is the first day I have been on my computer since my surgery so I just saw this. It is going ok, day 2 and 3 after surgery were really hard for me and I wasn't able to get much down. Today is going a little better. Just trying to sip sip sip and walk more. I am glad to hear that your recovery is going so well!!!!
  8. I too had my surgery Monday, and I just hurt all over from all the pressure. I came home last night around 6:30pm and did nothing but sleep until almost 11am. I am trying to get liquids in but it is so hard.. I have barely gotten half a bottle of Water down and 2 tiny bites of yogurt. I try to walk when I can though. I hope it gets better too. 9. Today I am on day 11 out of 14 of my pre-op liquid diet. I have my surgery on Monday 12/12/16, and I know I am almost there, but today has been a hard day for me. Overall, I feel I have really done well on this liquid diet. I haven't cheated, I have been following my Doctors recommendations and meeting all my Protein and Water requirements, and after the first few days I haven't really had any cravings either. It has been really surprising to me how much I have been able to really stick with this and trust the process. The one thing I didn't really think about or prepare myself for was the emotional side of this process during the pre-op diet. I have had some emotional up and downs, but today is just a bad day; I find that I am just really sad and angry today. It started with trying a new protein shake flavor for Breakfast on my way to work this morning and it was SO HORRIBLE that it pretty much just ruined me I think. I find myself craving anything and everything; even things I never ate before I started this. My emotions are all over the place and I just find myself wanting to cry. Did anyone else experience a lot of emotions during the pre-op phase of their journey?

    Smoking

@@Gypsy52 Mine made me stop smoking immediately after my first appointment. That was about 3 months ago, and I have my surgery next Monday! Mine is REALLY REALLY big on making sure all his patients are nicotine free before and after surgery due to the risks it creates and that it makes it so much harder for your body to heal after surgery. I had to do a nicotine test last week, and if I would have failed he would not have done my surgery. He didn't have a specific time frame I had to be smoke-free, but I had to be able to pass my nicotine test prior to surgery and be willing to ensure I don't do it after surgery too.

    6.5 pounds in 4 days!

    6.5 pounds in 4 days!

@@OhHeyMarina Oh ok! Well yes just let them know what you have been doing and see if that is ok! It is crazy how different every surgeon and office is with the self pay! I am doing that too but it was required I meet with a Nutritionist as one of my pre-op requirements so that actually has been a blessing for me. At least you are able to still work directly with your Dr. on this until you are able to see one!
  23. kayshabear

    6.5 pounds in 4 days!

@@OhHeyMarina I don't blame you girl! This is definitely not easy. It seems to me you are doing really well with your protein intake, but I would probably just call over to your nutritionist and ask them about it since every surgeon has the different requirements. I have had to call mine a few times to ask questions in regards to the diet and I am so glad I did! Just keep your eye on the end goal and take it a day at a time We are almost there!
