I don't usually it the required amount in but found drinking Protein Water was killing two birds with one stone...I also got an infused water bottle from my hospital and I like putting lemons or some type of fruit in it to give the water some flavor...

These are all great answers...I'll be doing the same thing...booking my trip to the beach for July 2017 where I'll be wearing a bikini bc it's the first year in 15 years that I won't be going FAT...yeah to us for the best health choice...even though I will miss eating steak and potato dinners with my husband at our favorite restaurant...lol

My dr. told me no heating pad bc the heat on the fresh incisions could cause them to become infected...so I used gel ice packs for the first three days almost all day while awake...it helped so much..it seemed anything I ate or drank at that time caused my stomach to hurt...I'm 7 days out as of today and I haven't felt better, hurts to bend over, so I bend my knees to pick up stuff...I drove for the first time in a week, went shopping for four hours...made sure to take a Protein shake and water...I was definitely pooped and ready to chill...
Thanks! I'm trying to find things that will make my life easier after surgery. I have small rocks outside of my house and I'm looking for backless sneakers cause I'm sure I won't be able to tie my shoes right after and I won't be able to walk the rocks in my slippers. I've also been told to get myself a heating pad and a riser for my toilet. Any other suggestions?
Yes, that's all I can eat at one setting...I'm not over full or hungry...it's hard to wait the 30 minutes to drink and most of the time I don't but I also found some Protein Water that's pretty good...I drink the carnation sugar free chocolate powder with fat free milk and it really taste like chocolate milk...lol
Did the 2oz cups help? Is that about how much you're able to eat?
Oh you're so lucky...my Dr. has me on month of puree, then one month of soft food and then I'll feel like I've been freed from diet jail...lol..not meaning I'm just gonna eat whatever but at least I've been trained to all the sugarfree and no fat stuff...just mean I won't have to put do much thought into every single thing I eat...my hospital gave me two stainless steel 2ounce cups that have been a life saver..I've felt full on that when I do eat...good luck to us...I know I must remember to keep my eye on the prize which is my goal weight...lolI'm a week out and I am surviving off Protein shakes, sugar free popsicles, Water, and crystal lite. I don't want anything puréed. The look of puréed food discuss me. I will just wait to soft foods and I could have soft foods at 14 days out. 7 days left. I can't wait!

One is put in a blender and one isn't.. some things I just can't but into a blender and eat, it looks gross.. but some things could be fit both stages like mashed potatoes and stuff like that...Maybe a dumb question...and my doctor doesn't have a difference but what's the different between purée and soft foods? Just curious!

I'm totally hating this puree stage of this diet...I can't even fathom most foods being pureed and appealing...I did make pinto Beans and made refried beans...that's about the only thing besides my shakes that I find I can bare...I need more Protein and the shakes are so old...I'm only one week post-op and still have three weeks on this crazy diet....

I'm one week post op and I quick taking mine on day five

When you eat the egg salad and such do you eat that alone meaning not with bread or anything...I'm also 6 days post op and so afraid to eat anything...today I branched out and ate cottage cheese and pears all pureed...I know the fruit was probably pure sugar but I ate only 2oz...I'm thinking of making broccoli and cheese but not sure how that will fly once pureed, maybe to gross looking to eat...thanks for your postWell one week ago today I was leaving my office and mentally preparing for surgery the next day. Now I'm 6 days post-surgery and feeling pretty good!
Losing about a pound a day, and it's easier to eat and drink every day. I still get some weird feelings while eating every so often, but nothing too bad, and drinking feels totally normal. Walking and moving around is easy and pain-free. Two days in a row I had some blood spots from the large incision on my shirt but I'm pretty sure that's because my daughter went to hug me too fast and headbutted me right in the abdomen - that sucked.
I've been able to eat the following, all homemade and pureed: Egg salad, tuna salad, turkey salad, chicken salad, yoplait light yogurt (boston cream pie flavor, yum), also scrambled eggs with some ricotta mixed in. I went to my sister's for christmas and brought some turkey salad in a container but she had tuna there so I ate that instead, it wasn't pureed but it was mashed enough and I just chewed a lot, and it was fine. I have about 3 - 3.5 oz per serving.
The chicken salad was a bit of a disappointment. I bought some chicken breasts and put them in a crockpot overnight with some low-sodium chicken broth, mixed in some garlic powder, onion powder, and some barbecue sauce just for taste. Cooked for 8 hours, it smelled delicious! Shredded it, cooked another 30 minutes, then in the blender to puree. Tasted a lot like chopped liver - which I like - but not very good chopped liver. Mixed in some low-fat mayo and it's not terrible, just not as delicious as I was hoping Still better than the liquid diet though, I guess.
Doing OK with liquid intake, that isn't really a problem, and my Protein intake has been right on point. Still taking in less than a thousand calories a day but I'm not hungry. That should increase once my portion sizes increase. I'm waiting for the day the MyFitnessPal app doesn't give me a warning at the end of each day that I'm not eating enough!
I'm proud of myself that I haven't cheated ONCE since the whole thing started, going to try to keep that up. My wife made a pumpkin cheesecake for the holidays and it looked unbelievable. Right consistency for me too, but I decided to stick with the post-surgery diet. There will be time for cheesecakes (small portions) in the future when I'm at my goal.

Thanks everyone...I called my nutritionist but had to leave a message...I did eat 2oz of the cottage cheese and pears both pureed...I'm not having anymore pears till I talk to her...now I'm wanting broccoli and cheese? Lol this day has been crazy hungry...I'm 6 days post op...I guess I'm tired of the same o same o...I've been so tired and not up to making any recipes that I was given and most of them seemed disgusting pureed...it's all one big learning experience...I hated my divorce from real food but I knew it was time for a change...

@@concertchick7 I'm feeling the exact same way, I'm 5 days post op and I dread having to drink...can't even think about eating besides applesauce or pudding or jello...all sugar free of course...the Popsicles are yummy...just got me some Protein water...hoping I can make this work...good luck to you...

I feel ya too...I'm taking my nausea pills more than my pain pills...this whole process sucks, I know time will heal but the time in between seems so long...
-
I'm 5 days post op and it's very hard to get my liquids in...my Husband is concerned that I'm getting dehydrated and I probably am but it hurts to drink in bigger portions...I'm sorta scared that I'm doing something wrong...I know each day will get better as I heal but I honestly didn't know it was going to be this hard
-
I was sleeved on the 21st and having a hard time getting in my Protein and liquids...it causes a weird feeling when I drink anything...hard to sleep, waking up every 3 hours or so, only hurts when I try to move around in my recliner...I did eat potato Soup 2ounces and some pinto beans...this is definitely way harder than I expected but what's done is done, I know the days ahead will get easier, just wish it was now....

If I drink to fast I feel very nauseated... glad y'all are doing well...I ate scrambled eggs this morning...did okay...Merry Christmas fellow sleevers
