MowryRocks reacted to Strivingforbetter in Ok so I'm 7 wks out and my first day back to work is tomorrow. I am really lost about
I'm still trying to figure out lunch. I take something different every day. I'm afraid to say specifically what I eat for fear of someone pounding my choices. However, so far, I've steadily lost weight. I just try and take something that's high in protein with veggies on the side. Could be fish, lunch meat and cheeses, leftover chicken, etc.

I mean every surgeon only did 30 surgeries at some point, but...
Call and speak with the office manager. The office staff won't be in the OR with you so it doesn't really matter if you ruffle a few feathers.

MowryRocks got a reaction from Berry78 in I have decided not to go through with the surgery. If they can fix the pain I have in
@Berry78 That's what I did. It is helpful either way because my insurance would accept any attempts at medically supervised weight loss over a 2 year span, so even if I decided against it and changed my mind later, I wouldn't have to start the process over again.
I ultimately went through it because after losing 30 lbs on my own in the first 4 months. I eased up a bit in my 5th month and even though I stuck mostly to plan, but had a few "last hurrah" days in there, I gained 20lbs back in month 5. I realized then and there I could not do it on my own.
    Sage advice, my friend.

Instead of deciding to not go through with the surgery immediately, go ahead through your 6 month process AS THOUGH you are planning on having the procedure. You can ALWAYS decide NOT to do it in the end, but with your vision on the line and your current BMI, I believe this surgery is in your best interest.
And 6 months buys you more time to learn and think about it... and since there are diet classes and psych evaluations, you can learn more about yourself in the process.. anything you learn by going through the process will help you be successful with or without the actual surgery.

MowryRocks reacted to OutsideMatchInside in I don't know what is going on, but I am dropping weight like crazy since I broke that
I think I dropped 2 sizes that month, at least, it wasn't just pounds it was a ton of inches too. Enjoy it. Your body will stop when it doesn't want to lose anymore, then you will be fighting another stall before you know it.

Me too! I hit a 4 week stall, kickstarted myself by going full liquid for 2 days and no artificial sweeteners and I have lost 12 pounds in 11 days. It feels great! Congrats!!!
And a size 8? That's my goal size!!!

MowryRocks got a reaction from cruelirony in They finally set my surgery date and it is already pre-approved from my insurance pro
I felt the same way about the risk for a long time. My girls are 9 and 12. Then I realized that being here for them today is not going to help them tomorrow or in 10 years when I'm not here because I died from some weight related illness. There are no guarantees in life, without risk, there is no reward.

It's scary. on that side of things. Much, much less on this side. I'm 9 mos. post op and I just live my life now. Like really live it. That's the best part right now. Build yourself some good exercise habits as soon as you are cleared and it will make the road much easier. I'm available if you have questions.

Hang in there, the goal is not to be perfect, but close to perfect. The less time you spend hung up on bad decisions you may have made, the quicker you move on to better ones.

Thanks guys! It feels great. Keeping my eye on the prize. My surgeon wants me to lose another 15, I want to be in a normal BMI range so that is 67lbs away. We'll see what feels right and I'm sure I'll settle in somewhere in between that.
