    Creamed spinach

I wasn't cleared for Spinach of any kind until week 6.
  2. The answer is a resounding yes. You are expelling matter from your body and matter has weight. I have weighed myself before and after many times and there is a different, but usually it's ounces I've never had a scenario where it has shown more than a half lb. difference.
  3. Down another pant size!!! It feels so good to go into a regular store and have sizes above me. That hasn't happened in a long time. Still plenty of sizes below, but I'm on my way!

    Question about protein

I actually read a study about this that said that's outdated information. The body will absorb whatever you eat, it just takes longer to do it. The 30g was what could be absorbed and converted in the timeframe that was being studied, but meals that have more than 30g are not just discarded, the remaining protein is held and converted slowly throughout the rest of the day. That is not to say that it's good to load up 100g of protein in one meal or anything, it's best to spread it out through all of the meals for a number of reasons, but extra protein at a given meal isn't just "lost". Good to know.

    Question about protein

Keep in mind that the body can only absorb 30g of protein at a time.

Does anyone else feel this way

I stressed about very similar things. I just told my work "It's coming" I'll let you know more when I know more. Surgeon's schedules usually open up after the holidays. I'm sure you'll be fine. Good Luck!

    Favorite snacks ?

I make a big pan of meatballs and package 2 or 3 (depending on size). Spoon a little low sugar marinara sauce on and top with mozzarella. I usually prepackage 2 or 3 servings and store the rest in sauce so my family can use it for spaghetti. I do the same thing with meatloaf or I'll dry brine a roasting chicken or turkey breast.
  10. Its great! 55lbs down so far. Don't tell John (the nutritionist) about the Patches, he will flip out...lol ( regardless...I use them too.) I have no problem with Protein, but I know what things are high in protein, so I try to have cottage cheese a couple of times a day, turkey and tuna or cod. I eat 6 tiny meals a day instead of 3, it's the only way I can do it, because I cannot stand the shakes at all anymore. Yeah he really is amazing! I'm doing good so far, I'm down 57 pounds. Pretty exciting. I was thinking about going in January too. It'd be nice to hear other people's experiences. I have a hard time getting the daily amount of protein, but I'm trying. And I had to switch to the Vitamin patches because I got tired of the chewable and got sick with the pills. How is it going for you? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
  11. Not a part of a badass WLS couple like you, but praying for your hubs!
  12. It was hard to stick to the plan, but I did it. 2 months out and I can basically eat anything with the exception of citrus fruit, dried fruit, caffeine, alcohol (@ 3 months) and steak, pork steaks, ham steaks, or liver (@ 6 months, but for the record...I will not be eating the liver). Not judging, but in my personal experience...I did everything that I was told to do, because each step was so fleeting in the grand scheme. If I can't do something hard for 1, 2, or 8 weeks, how am I going to survive the rest of my life? I was really fat for 23 years. It was really hard to live fat for that long...really easy to get that way, but HARD TO LIVE that life, physically, emotionally, and psychologically. If you want to live something different, you've got to do something different. End of story.
  13. I haven't been to one either. I was thinking about going to one in January, but I hate new social situations...lol. I'm getting better though, more confident. Glad to meet people who are with Dr. Ricks though. This is my second surgery with him, he did a double hernia repair for me last year and he was so amazing that it really made me rethink my years of swearing I'd never have WLS. It looks like you had your procedure about 3 weeks before I did. Hope everything is going well.
  14. Sounds frightening! Glad you are better.
  15. Which surgery center did you use? I have one for Des Peres.
  16. I was allowed very thin oatmeal in the second week as part of my full liquid diet. Each surgeon is different.

    Stop smoking

It all comes down to what you want more. I smoked for 20 years, but was able to quit during both my pregnancies because of something I wanted more than a cigarette. I finally quit smoking for good when I decided that I was too fat and unhealthy. I quit smoking cold turkey, but it took me almost 8 years to do anything permanent about my weight. Quitting isn't easy, but rarely is anything worth doing. Good Luck!

    Sleeved Yesterday

Welcome to Sleeveland! It takes a few days to adjust, but as time goes on, I think you're gonna like it here.
  21. I found this old blog post of mine from 5 years ago today. 4 years after I decided that WLS was the devil and nearly 5 years before it was my "salvation". I enjoyed reading it so, I thought you might too! So there I was....minding my own business, (I know some of you don't believe it, but it's true) when my thoughts meandered to Space. Yes...the FINAL FRONTIER. (actually I have this whole theory about it being the ONLY FRONTIER, but I digress) I was thinking about the vast expanse. Stuff just floating around out there. I have always heard that when something is put into motion in space, it continues on the same trajectory from where it began. Never deviating from course, except for those cases when it might hit something else drifting along. I have heard this often referred to as "space junk" It's just a bunch of material discarded when we were done with it...just gliding around until it's demolished by a passing meteor, picked up by the tail of a comet, or enters the atmosphere of a nearby planet and disintegrates in a fiery explosive ball (may not be scientifically accurate). Day after day...just cruising blindly along the Milky Way, vacationing on Orion's belt, or freewheeling past Cassiopeia. (not necessarily in that order) When we travel in space...it's with a purpose. We want to get to the moon...we go to the moon. How do we achieve such a feat and avoid lunching near Andromeda with all the other misplaced and/or discarded items? Propulsion. A means of propelling; propelling force, impulse, etc. Being a life study pupil of language, I was embarrassed to find that my definition was off. Propulsion is not the act of moving forward as I had previously thought, but instead...it is the spark that ignites you. Its the driving force that gets you moving. In space, not unlike dieting (or exercising, healthy living, or insert -ing here), in order to get to where you want, you need more than that initial spark. You need to keep inciting yourself to stay on course. This is the only way that you will reach the Moon, or Mars, or Leo Minor. Tired of feeling like space junk? I am . Today's spark: My unwillingness to let anyone else defeat me, let alone myself. What's your spark? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fit bit? Should I?

I have owned and/or used a Fitbit for the last 5 years and when I stay on top of wearing it, it definitely keeps me on track. I motivate me, it just helps me know how well I'm doing and reminds me to push myself when needed! They also have a waterproof version.
  23. I am from STL as well was sleeved 10/26/2016 by Dr. Ricks @ Des Peres. Love him!
