  1. I've had a few surgeries....this was the easiest one I've ever recovered from. I really could have driven home the next morning if it were legal. I was working from my laptop in bed right away and was stir crazy and wanted to go shopping or do something just a couple days after being home. My belly was a little sore, but honestly felt better to move around than lay around. Easy Peasy....keep your eye on the prize!

  2. If you are moving towards surgery, you can always start prepping now. Get in your fluids.....cut down on sugars and carbs....don't make yourself heavier while stressing about surgery.

Remember that surgery is not a magic pill...you still have to work hard.

It's easy to feel defeated. Keep your eye on the prize and your chin up. Good luck with your journey.

  3. Howdy - I've been reading so many mixed reviews about if GENEPRO really has 30 grams of Protein or not.....but since I have it, I am going to use what I have.

People say the mix it in food and coffee. I just put a scoop in a cup of Tomato Soup, and it was clumpy and nasty and I had to toss it out.

Is there a trick? Do you have to dissolve it somehow before adding to hot liquid?

  4. BTW --- Not all Newbies are millennials looking for their next praise point or trophy. Some of us are just legitimately "new" and looking for advice and tips from people who have already done this. I'm sure I've asked dumb questions too.

Today alone I've seen this post, some weird religious chick crying about Sarah Palin and saying why you can't have morals without Jesus, some woman who doesn't understand why a guy she has known for 2 weeks still hasn't devoted his life to her....the list goes on.

I've also read posts from Vets bitching about newbies in the same way conceited HS Seniors pick on stupid lowly Freshman pukes.

Is there always so so so much drama here?

  5. I'm worried as well. My husband is even heavier than me...although very supportive so far.

I fear though. It's a little bit like alcoholism. When both people drink and one stops or cuts back....how can that not create tension. Even with best intentions, the one who still drinks has loss of their partner in crime....and the one who gets clean watches the other one continue to make poor choices....whether there is judgement on either side or not, there would be perception of judgement.

You have to do what it takes to get yourself heathy and on track and worry about yourself first.

  6. Off topic! Wow! It's mind blowing seeing everyone's experience. I could drink my liquids from day 3 and could handle the Soups. I am on day 7 and i am worried didn't they take out enough of my tummy

I am on day 8....and worry about the same thing. I can really gulp liquids. I'm losing weight, but who wouldn't on a liquid diet eating 600 calories. Nervous about adding real food into the mix.

  7. I bought Grape flavored Proteins waters called Isotech42 at Super supplements. They have 42 grams of Protein. If I get one of this and 1 Protein shake, that meets most of my total liquid diet Protein requirements.

I bought a bunch of cartons of "Imagine" brand Soups - Tomato, pea, pumpkin, squash, and I nuke a cup of Soup 2-3 times per day and sip slowly.

Hope you find what works for you. I was sleeved 11/13.

  8. I was to wait for 3 months until I had a hole in my work schedule. My spouse started cooking immediately and started serving all this things he never thought I would be able to eat again. Then we went on vacation and I gained more weight. I was pretty disgusted with myself...and even wondered if my spouse was trying to sabotage me....

I lost it all plus my required on the pre-op diet. I thought about a famous last meal, but decided the "one more" philosophy is how I ended up in this mess. I did go out and have sushi the night before, but I kept it pretty tame. Just a little spicy tuna roll. No beer, nothing fried or creamed. You've got enough to worry about. Keep your eye on the prize.

  9. I saw a recipe for cottage cheese and canned pumpkin w/ sweetener and spice which is supposed to approximate mock pumpkin pie.

We are foodies, so one of the things that excites me is all the new food recipes and methods to experiment with. Just because we have had surgery doesn't mean we can't enjoy being in the kitchen and being creative, right?

I just had surgery so it's pretty basic now -- looking forward to a big healthy alternative Thanksgiving table next year.

  10. Funny. I have been wondering how I will deal with these same questions...I'm on day 5 so hasn't come up.

I have a coworker who lost a bunch of weight a couple years ago. I "think" I know she had WLS, but she didn't offer and it really wasn't anyone's business.

I do remember she would load a plate of food....eat slowly (slower than others so she was eating about the same amount of time)....and then Use her napkin to cover her plate when she was done. I'm a freakishly observant person, so only I picked up how much food was under her napkin. I plan to use that trick.

I'm just going to say "thanks, I've been working hard" and if they want to think something else or gossip about me/etc, shame on them. It's really nobody's business but yours.

  11. Nair for Men....comes in a cream and a spray can. I have a "lotion applicator" on a stick so I can do it myself.....but the easiest thing to do is to ask my spouse to donate me 2 minutes per month slather me.

Been doing his long before surgery. Trying to stay pretty while pushing 50 is a labor of love! :)
