You just reminded me of something. I am on deck to make a fancy wood sushi bowl next month, and I still don't have the specs from the guy who wants me to make it.

Not doing so well
I look at it this way. Either this person is a troll, or she is not. If she is for real, then she really needs to get some good advice here, advice which sends her to more good advice and help locally. Nobody here is diminished by offering to help. If she IS a troll, then who loses? How pathetic does someone's life have to be to troll a weight loss forum? Maybe it is some pre-adolescent kid, or some neckbeard living in Mommy's basement, but the only person who loses is the troll. People who do good things to help other people are never diminished when they help, even when they are taken in. And if you are the kind of person to help others in time of need, you will be taken in at some point or another. That should not harden you to the needs of those you encounter.

I must be working on a giant squid then.

Do you drink carbonated beverages?
ALL the people in my program said the exact same thing. I am learning though, that not everything they tell us is specifically tailored to the sleeve. I never really cared much for sodas, but I do miss a cold beer now and then. I will probably give it a try when beer drinking weather arrives next spring.

I love shopping now. Never did before!
I'm a guy. I think they would have to operate on my brain to make me enjoy shopping. But I am glad to see you getting some enjoyment again from something you used to love.

No where else to vent
I am really sorry to see you have to go through this. It is hard enough on you, but it has got to be even harder for the children, regardless of their ages. Seeing people going through things like this is always discouraging for me. I want to jump in and help them get things back to where they need to be, but so many times it doesn't work out. I hope you continue to do well with your weight loss. You have done a great job so far. And I hope the new year brings more positive things into your life than negative.

The Struggle is REAL
Just to add to what has already been written. look at this as an opportunity. You are starting on a new life, and you will undoubtably meet someone who will treat you lots better. Your best response to your former boyfriend will be to live life well to the fullest.

Can I lie - hernia op?
Just say you are having some parts removed. You don't need to go any further. I've had some close acquaintances ask what my surgery was for. I replied that it was need to know and let it go at that.

8 days post op NO stomach tone
I slept on my back for two weeks. I did NOT want to take any chances of pulling something loose. Every time I would roll over on my side, I'd get a tiny twinge and go right back on my back. I was a huge sissy pants. But it got better fairly quickly.

Finding the very fine line
- I don't think I'm doing this right
I don't think you need to worry. Liquids don't have "sticking power" like solids do. When I was on the full liquids stage, I just concentrated on making sure I got all my Protein and then the volume I was supposed to get. I didn't really have any hunger during that time. Now that I am pretty well healed up and on solid food, it is a lot easier to tell when I am full. You'll get there. For now, just make sure you are drinking what you need to drink and get your protein in that way. And yeah, it is all liquid. Once you transition to solid food, you can still do Protein shakes to get your protein requirements and count them as liquid. And you don't need to worry about stretching your sleeve. The diarrhea will get better eventually as your system normalizes. At least, that is what They (with a capital T) say. My system goes back and forth, but the Hershey squirts is better than the other swing of the pendulum.- Perspective
Congratulations!- Finding the very fine line
I'm doing it just like you describe, especially if I am out somewhere and there is no easy way to divide (and conquer). Take it slow, and stop as you reach your limit. I find stopping a little early is better than late. I may get hungry again earlier on, but I don't have to deal with feeling like I've got food tickling my tonsils for an hour or so.- Journey to the healing place
I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Phil 4:13-13 Life is not always easy, and not always what we expect, but God will get us through it. Hello from a brother in the Lord.- HOW MUCH DID YOU LOSE BEFORE GETTING APPROVED?
I was not required to lose anything but money. Haha, seriously, I did have to "make an effort", and I suppose they might have turned me down if I hadn't lost anything, but I lost 67 lbs from Day One to B-Day. Losing weight has always been easy. Keeping it off is a different story.- Perspective
That sucks! The Kirby, I mean. I can't help it, it is a character flaw. Mrs. LittleBill is pretty strong from helping me out all these years with remodeling, firewood, moving stuff around the shop, (the occasional wrassling match) etc, but I am still the chief jar opener around here.- Perspective
That's because you are firing on all cylinders.- Perspective
See, here I am posting about this, and you are already a head of the game.- Perspective
We hop on the scale. We write down what we eat. We measure various parts of our bodies, and we go through complete changes of wardrobe. Along the way, we have non scale victories to help us see how we are doing. We get feedback from others on how good we look. Even with all that, we sometimes lose perspective of how we are doing. At least, I do. I'd wager there might be one or two others like me here. Today, I got a real dose of real perspective on how my weight loss journey is going. I was visiting my parents and helping my 82 year old father with a few chores around the house. One of the things I did was pick up some 50 lb bags of sand and salt for the driveway and walkway at their place. I mean literally. I grabbed them out of the back of my truck and carried them up the front stairs of their house. If you want a real good idea of how you are doing on your loss of weight, grab 50 lbs of sand, sling it over your shoulder, and walk upstairs. Do it a few times. Then realize you used to carry that and more, every single day of your life, everywhere you went. I'm down 117 lbs right now. I had no desire to throw two bags on my shoulder to see how it felt. I was content with one.- I'm struggling with muscle loss.
Genepro claims 30 grams per serving. The only problem is, each serving is 15 grams by volume, and 4 grams by weight. You can't put two pounds of poop in a one pound bag. They claim to reduce the size of the molecules. I can pretty much guarantee if they had that kind of tech, they would be doing something more lucrative than peddling Protein powder.- Can't eat certain foods 2 years post op?!
This is opinion only, but you need to see someone local to you like an allergist. My professional occupation is woodworking. I have seen and spoken with a number of woodworkers over the years who have developed allergies to wood dust. It usually starts out with one or two species. Those who ignore the symptoms and continue on with using those species often find it generalizes to more and more species. They also see an increase in the severity of symptoms. This may be what is happening to you with some of your food allergies. Get thee to an allergist or a nutritionist and map out a strategy for getting back on track.- Before and after pics. Need the motivation.
Short answer, yes. Some things will change. Some things have to change. But you will still be able to enjoy eating. I have found that I am completely satisfied eating much smaller amounts because they fill me up. It is not about quantity. It is all about the experience.- Okay, I'll take it!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! . Merry Christmas, and what a great way to mark the occasion!- Not doing so well
You need more help than you are going to get on an internet discussion board. Do you have any local support from the Bariatric program you were in? What about friends or family? Are there other medical or counseling resources available to you? Coming here can be a bit of a help, but you need local people in real life. The surgery is a tool, but if you haven't been taught how to use it, it is not going to work for you. The biggest part of that is how to eat properly from a physical and mental point of view.- Saw my doc today
You know, this could happen - except for the cow part, unless we wanted to ride down the road a bit. I've mentioned several times teaching or students. All this takes place here at my wood shop, which is on our property. We've had hundreds of guests over the years who came as students, and had lunch, dinner, or both, with the family. Our kids grew up thinking it was normal to have total strangers come to visit and stay to eat. So if you ever find yourself in or near eastern PA, don't be afraid to write and say you'd like to visit. We've even had people call who had my contact info and were just passing through, ask to stop and visit the shop for a little while. If I'm home, which is usually, we've made it happen. - I don't think I'm doing this right
