  1. well last Monday I went to the seminar at OHSU and got all the information. Now I just basically have to wait until I lose my insurance and pick up the insurance from my job that does cover the procedure. I have filled out the paperwork and I am getting all the stuff they need 2 years of pcp notes 5yr chart of weight to show the high bmi etc. Hopefully this fall will be it. I cannot get insurance though my work during the year unless I lose my current insurance which I will be dropped from on my 23rd birthday in July so just preparing the best I can and trying to get some weight off.

  2. Ah yes very good and here is my list of some things I am looking forward to: Fitting into one airplane seat Being able to wear a bathing suit in public Fitting into booths at restaurants Being able to find clothes at normal stores without going to specialty plus size stores Being comfortable in my own body

I love these forums it always brings up things that I have questions to thanks for the answers guys, I think this might have been one I would have forgotten to ask for awhile.
  4. waho well step one is done! I have made my decision and my family is fairly supportive of me doing it, they have their concerns obviously but if I am happy they will be so I have starting filling out the paper work to do it! How are you feeling?

  5. That is where I was going to go at first I went to their seminar last year, but my insurance will only cover OHSU because it has a center of excellence distinction. I am going to the OHSU seminar tomorrow so we will see how that goes. I still have not found anyone else that has been to OHSU yet either.
  6. Thats just great! I go in tomorrow to OHSU for their seminar to start the process Q&A type thing I cant waite.

  7. Hey how are you feeling a few weeks out now?

    OK Oregon, where are you?!?!?

Monterrey where did you go to get the band done in Portland? I am going to the seminar at OHSU to start the process there but have not seen anyone so far on these forums that has used OHSU. Anyone out there that that has used OHSU?
  10. oh yes definitely going to ask about that ty

  11. Hi just thought I would send you some good thoughts I hope all went well!

  12. good I am glad you are doing well! The biggest thing I am worried about is the placement of the port. I have a lot of fat and tissue on my belly so I am wanting my port placed higher I have so far only found 2 people to have had theirs placed higher to avoid problems later from flipping if you loose a lot of fat in that area as well as be easier to locate. Did the dr give you a choice or map out the location of the port before hand with you? And yes I will let you know how it goes after the seminar.

  13. Hey, How are you doing? I hope well! How was the experience? I have been the their seminar before so I decided not to go again since I could not use them any way and at this point my questions are more surgeon specific. Yes I did find another one OHSU in Portland I am going to their seminar on the 14th to start from there. I cant wait! So how are you feeling? How long did you have to stay in the hospital and before you were up and walking around?

  14. I would be curious to know why he did not like OHSU if you hear from him in the near future.
  15. I signed up for the seminar that is this week this morning only to learn this afternoon that even though the dr's at the Oregon bar center are considered "in-network" with the new insurance they say they only cover centers that are considered part of the centers of excellence program I guess so I don’t think they are one. :-( The only one I can find in Oregon is OHSU. Do you know if they are considered one or not?

  16. Whao tomorrow is it! That’s great! Well I signed up for the seminar that is this week this morning only to learn this afternoon that even though the dr's at the Oregon bar center are considered "in-network" with the new insurance they say they only cover centers that are considered part of the centers of excellence program I guess so I don’t think they are one. :-( The only one I can find in Oregon is OHSU. My thoughts are with you tomorrow. It will be great!

  17. Thanks! I am thinking it will take me a bit longer because I am in the process of switching insurance company's from kaiser to the one that my job offers which does from what i can tell so far cover the procedure at 80%. Do you know if they have any financing options available? If you have to pay for part of the procedure like that? I am thinking I am going to go to another one of the seminars next week since this time around I know more about it and what I am interested in.

  18. Hi I am also from Eugene and was curious how your expierence with the guys at sacred heart went. I am just starting the process of looking for a doc and dealing with insurance etc. How is your process going at sacred heart?

  19. Hi I am starting the process and was excited to find someone else in Eugene. I have previously gone to the same dr.'s seminar that they have at sacred heart several months ago. I am curious how dealing with them is going for you as far as insurance if you are using any and just your general feel for the dr's there. How long was your process from begining to end with them?

    My Port Has Flipped!

thank you so much for the pic and the info laura I really appreciate it, that just seems like such a better place to put it to me.
  21. Most of the things that I have read just say that the port is stitched into the abdominal wall. In another thread somewhere on this site, people were talking about ports flipping. One lady said that she had her port moved after it flipped to a location between her breasts. It seems to make a lot more sense to me that this location would prevent flipping and be easier to find for fills. Has anyone else had their port put in this location or an alternative location?
  22. I am wondering if anyone has had the procedure done though Kaiser in Oregon? Last year I was told that they did not do this procedure, however from other posts in here with Kaiser in other states it looks like they might offer it now? Does anyone know?

    My Port Has Flipped!

Is it noticable in that location?

    My Port Has Flipped!

Has anyone else has there port moved to this location? To me that seems like a better place to put it to start with but this is the first I have heard of it. Is it noticeable?
  25. Veggie you said you had kaiser do you live in Oregon? I have them also and last time I checked with them they did not offer the procedure. I really hope that this has changed ? It sounds like you have them and they offer it now?
