    Dizzy Spells When Standing

@@fatontheinside Interesting... yes, I guess it makes sense about the low blood pressure and that might just be it. I was thinking if it goes on another week I will get into the doctor. Thank you for your reply.

    sodas

When I started my 2 week pre-op diet, I asked my nutritionist about the diet soda. She said that I could have one small soda (a can) a day, so that's what I did. I was a huge diet soda drinker for years. It was hard to cut it out, but after surgery, I don't miss it at all!
  6. I measure or weigh all foods. I measure my veggies in a measuring cup.... I usually can't eat more than 1/4 cup of veggies with my meat at lunch and dinner. I usually have chicken, and right now the amount I eat is 4 ounces. I always weight my chicken or fish when I eat it, with a food scale. When I eat yogurt or cottage cheese, I measure it in a measuring cup. Like Rebecca66 said above, myfitnesspal is a great tool, but it won't really do any good unless you are weighing and measuring the amounts of food that you eat. All you need is a small food scale, which you can get at Walmart, Target, etc., and a measuring cup.
  7. I had my sleeve surgery on 11/14/16. I remember the week before surgery struggling with thoughts of maybe I can lose this weight on my own. I kept going back and forth between maybe I can do it on my own to no I can't, I need and want this surgery. I kept reminding myself of how I have struggled for years and years with being overweight, trying dieting throughout those years and not being able to lose the weight or keep off what little I would lose. Then a few days before surgery, it was all positive thoughts about my surgery and how much I wanted to make a change and lose this weight and keep it off. There was no turning back at that point. I remember the day of surgery I was so excited to get it done! I was a little nervous, but mostly just excited and looking forward to my new life. I only have one regret, and that's that I didn't do this sooner! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.... I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. The same to all the others who replied and are having surgery soon!

    3 days away...

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery, Amy! Mine was Nov 14, so I am about 10 weeks post op. The only regret I have is that I wish I had done this sooner! I wish you the best and a speedy recovery!

    Finally out of the three's!

Congratulations! I know that feels good! The day of my 2 week pre-op diet I weighed 312 and I remember how thrilled I was after surgery when I fell below 300! It was awesome! Keep up the fantastic work!

    Surgery question!

Same with me, I didn't run a fever after surgery and I wasn't cold at all. I remember just having the sheet and light blanket they provide in the hospital. I think I even went with just the top sheet for awhile. Congratulations on your arrival date and best wishes to you! Speedy recovery!

First day of the Pre Op Diet

HUGGGGGGGGGGG You can do it! Keep your eye on the prize! The Protein shakes really do help a lot. I wish you the best and excited for you and your surgery date.
  13. I've hit a few stalls, some lasting over a week. I'm 9 weeks post op. Like you, I've read that stalls are perfectly normal. I got through my stalls just fine, it helped to read what others had to say about them. All I can say is that you just try to keep your eyes on the prize and know that the stalls will pass. Be encouraged that you are past surgery and on the road to a healthier you. Try to look to the future and know that the good choices you are making right now will help get you there. I finally made it past over a month of on and off stalls and lost 4 pounds this past week (this morning was my weigh in day). Be encouraged!

    When to count calories

If you don't already know, you can easily track your calories, carbs, Protein, sugars at myfitnesspal.com It's real easy to use and adds everything up for you. Like blizair09, I have been tracking all of that since the beginning. Actually started with my pre-op diet two weeks before surgery. You are going to want to know how many calories you are getting in, because the further you get out, it might be real useful for example, if you stop losing weight. In my case, I stopped losing weight and talked to my nutritionist and she told me that I was not getting in enough calories. I was always under 600 calories a day (at about 6 weeks post op). I had to make some adjustments to get in more calories. Now I am back to losing weight again after weeks of not losing weight.
  16. I am guessing you are on the soft food stage. I did baked wild alaskan sockeye salmon. You could bake other fish... it's nice and soft. I also did chicken that was really moist. I was told I could do moist ground beef, but didn't try it then, but you probably can. Hummus, yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese or other cheese. Refried Beans, boiled sweet potatoes, boiled butternut squash, well cooked carrots or canned carrots.... canned veggies of any kind because they are soft. A little banana, canned peaches.
  17. Yes, I agree with you @@walklady I have heard that drinking lots of Water is one of the best things we can do.
  18. @@erica2185 No, don't mind at all you asking. I am using Clinique night moisture repair on my face, under chin and neck area. I'm using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula, bust firming massage cream on my chest (I have had it for a couple of years, so thought that's why I'd start using it). Then when I was in the hospital for a different surgery over a year ago, they used this Medline Remedy Skin Repair Cream on my skin and that's what I'm using on my arms, legs, etc. I know that there are probably more expensive alternatives that may be better, but I'm probably not going to invest in them.
  19. I am not worried about it, but I don't really like the idea of it a whole lot. I've lost 44 pounds since my pre-op diet and I am really starting to notice the sagging skin. It bugs me enough to the point where I am really using quite a bit of lotion, especially in the areas that bother me.... my "loose" skin under my chin and my arms. I was using my small 5 lb. hand weights and doing arm exercises... I thought that might help some. I need to get back to doing that.

    I want a salad?

My nutritionist said I could try salad at 7 weeks. I am now 9 weeks post op. She told me to start slowly... just a small amount at a time to see how I handled it. So that's what I did a couple of weeks ago... started slow with just a few bites. I had no problem. Now I've been eating salad everyday at lunch or dinner with my Protein. I eat about 4 oz of chicken usually, with a romaine lettuce and grape tomato salad. No problems and I tried raw broccoli florets for the first time with some hummus for a snack several days ago. So far, so good with the raw veggies. I have read that some people have to wait several months to be able to tolerate raw veggies. So when you start, just do a very small amount. I guess it could really upset your stomach if you can't tolerate it.
  21. I experienced constipation until I was about 6 weeks post op. I'm now at 9 weeks and finally regular again. My doctor told me it was safe to use Miralax and also Milk of Magnesia. Some days when my constipation was really bad, it took more than just Miralax and I needed the MOM too. Those 2 things really helped me a lot.

    Getting Discouraged

You can buy the Oscar Meyer or your local store's deli meat or other brand. Deli meat is soft and actually goes down easy. Low fat too. It might just work as a snack for you, it's so easy to just grab a small piece or two and roll it up. I usually get the smoked turkey and like that. I don't eat a lot of deli meat, just as a small snack to get in that little bit of extra Protein and of course it will give you some calories too.

    Getting Discouraged

I was sleeved on 11-14. I get between 750-900 calories a day. I can easily get in almost 60 grams of Protein without adding shakes or Protein powder to my diet. But I like to get my protein close to 100 grams, so I add those things. I feel like you really need to up that protein in a big way. I know you said that you know you need to. Since you can't do the Protein drinks or the unflavored protein powder, I would suggest that you add in some protein packed Snacks. Eat your regular 3 meals with protein such as yogurt, eggs, or Egg Beaters for Breakfast. Then maybe have a mid morning snack. Even if it is an ounce or two of rolled up lunch turkey meat, since you can't have cheese. Then eat your meat for lunch and dinner and have another afternoon snack, maybe deli meat rolled up again. This will give you over 60 grams of protein in addition to your main meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, be sure you are eating protein first, and veggies last. Always fill up on your protein before anything else. I have seen a lot of people say that you need to get that protein up in order to lose weight. Plus it has other benefits and is very important in healing. Good luck.

    Lettuce and raw vegtables

I am over 9 weeks post op. I started eating lettuce at about 7 weeks. My nutritionist said to start slowly with it and see how I did with it, so that's what I did. I had no problems at all eating it. Now I have a small salad everyday with my chicken for lunch or dinner. It's mixed lettuce.... romaine and another kind and a bit of purple cabbage too. Yesterday, I decided to try raw broccoli florets with my hummus for my afternoon snack. I did fine with it. Today I bought roma tomatoes and a cucumber to make a cucumber and tomato salad with a homemade italian vinegrette dressing, that way I can try even more fresh veggies. I am eating about 4 oz of Protein for lunch and dinner, along with raw or cooked veggies and trying to really limit the carbs. I am so pleased that I'm able to eat raw veggies and not have a problem with them.
