  1. I just had hit my six-month point, down a hair over 100 lbs, with 50 more to go. My nutritionist did give me a heads up that between 5-6 mos. my metabolism would slow down and I'd have to work out harder. I don't have Protein Shakes as often, but am diligent about making sure that I'm getting enough Protein. The only down side is that I have lost the desire for pizza. It's a small sacrifice to pay, so I'll take it! I started wearing a shaper to camoflouge my loose skin. What are the experiences my fellow December bypass buddies are facing?

Great work! Sounds like you are doing wonderful. How is your Hair loss? I hit my 6 month on the 26th of June comma and I'm down about 60 pounds. My goal was a total of 100. I'm not the fastest loser but I planned it that way to help with the loose skin and hair loss.

  2. Hey Alexis! Sounds like you're living my life too! Isn't life crazy sometimes?
Congrats on losing 60(!) pounds! That's amazing! You've worked your tail off!
I'm having the Hair loss problem- I asked my NUT about it as well as my surgeon and they both say that I don't need extra Biotin because we're getting tons of B Vitamins in our supplements- that said though- I've considered taking the biotin- I've bought it already and just need to start it- I just can't get myself to take yet another pill!
My hair loss started around the beginning of month 4 - and is still happening - I'm at 5 1/2 months now- surgery was 12/6/16- and I'm a slow loser too- I've only lost 52 pounds- so frustrating! And that's from my highest weight- since surgery it's only been 38(!) pounds-
Anyway- have a fabulous day! Hope to hear more from you soon [emoji4]

Thanks for sharing Erika! What percentage of your hair is falling out? Is it noticeable? It's funny how every doctor and nutritionist can say something else. My Dr actually told me to take as much biotin as physically possible LOL. Congratulations on your loss as well. This is hard work for sure.

  3. Hi guys!! How is everyone doing? I've been a little Hiatus from here I have two kids work full time blah blah blah I know the deal. But just wanted to check in I had my surgery December 27th and I am down about 60 pounds. definitely not the fastest loser however I'll take it because it's helping with my skin not sagging so much, at least that's what I believe. Will try and post an updated side-by-side pick a little later. Curious about everyone's Hair loss so far I haven't really lost any knock on wood, wondering when it started for you guys if any of you are having some hair loss. Like, what month did it start falling out? I'm pretty good about my Protein intake Biotin supplements in addition to my regular Vitamins no idea if it works. Well Happy Spring to all of you hope you're all well have a great day! I dictate my text please excuse any typos.

  4. Im three days post op. I hate broth and would prefer a couple drops of hot sauce in it. Has anyone tried spicy this close out of surgery? Also, do anyone have any advice when it comes to sucking hard candy such as jolly ranchers, peppermints, now and laters, etc?

Do not do hot sauce! I tried a very mild spicy Soup 2 weeks out and it burned my throat. I I'm only 7 weeks post and still cannot do anything spicy. Not even anything slightly spicy. It really sucks because prior to surgery I would douse many things with Tabasco and red pepper flakes. Hopefully six months out I can start incorporating it back in. As far as the candy I would probably stay away from it at least for the first year is it could be a slippery slope for you. And it is sugar. Hope this helps you good luck

  5. Hi my stricture peeps! I was dilated yesterday however I am still experiencing the feeling of food stuck in my throat. I've called Dr but not getting a clear answer as the PA's are the ones responding. My question...Did you have immediate relief? I know I may have to go again but I was dialated to 10 mm, and Dr says this is pretty good. He put me on full liquids for at least 1 week. Feeling frustrated and annoyed. It seems I should have relief now if they just opened it up.

  6. My chest didn't hurt I just kept throwing up. My doc took before and after pics of my scope and dilation and said no wonder I kept throwing up! post-306732-14834716313904_thumb.jpg post-306732-14834715142586_thumb.jpg

  7. Hi everybody, I will be 7 weeks post rn.y tomorrow. Since last Thursday I've been having the feeling of food being stuck in my throat. Over the weekend it lasted for 48 hours and that was while I was on liquids only. The surgeon ordered an upper GI for me tomorrow. Super annoyed, but what can I do? It comes with the territory right? Just curious if anyone has had this.. did one endoscopy take care of it or did you have to have multiple? Feeling annoyed.

  8. If you are a sweet eater the sleeve is not a good choice. Cookies and cakes can slip right through. Rny ( in most patients) causes severe dumping if you eat sweets. Being honest with yourself about your habits should help you make the right choice. I doubt that they get paid the same, rny is a more involved surgery. My Dr said the sleeve is so easy to perform that surgeons are popping up all over to make money. Also, if you take your Vitamins and are on top of your blood work after rny, you will do fine. The fear mongering with rny is just that and not truth. Know yourself and choose wisely. I did!

  9. How much Benefiber do you add to how much Water? My surgery is set for last week of March and I too am worried about Constipation.< /p>

Sent from my QTAIR7 using the BariatricPal App

I take two servings a day to 6 to 8 ounces of Water, or add it to applesauce, yogurt anything really. Just make sure to get your water in, when taking benefiber it will work against you if not hydrated.

  10. Yes, I was very anxious. I had to make sure to follow mindful eating guidelines given by my nutritionist (no eating at desk or while watching tv or looking at phone/tablet/computer, putting down the fork after each bite and chewing to applesauce consistency before swallowing). Another thing a friend told me was to make sure to have lubricant for certain foods. I was eating turkey thigh and had a lot of discomfort but have avoided that by making a sort of turkey salad with light mayo. Also even though I was told not to drink while eating I take very small sips of Water while eating salad.

Hi Jill! When were you able to introduced salads? What do you put in it and any dressing? Ty

  11. Also, I wanted to share how I get all my Water in. I lug this around with me everywhere I go. Errands, bathroom, in the shower! I have two of these before I go to sleep which gets me a hundred ounces not including some other stuff I drink during the day. I know some of us are struggling to get the Water in. For me, it was something I set out to do...Like I didn't have a choice. Because of all the Protein we eat I was terrified of becoming a constipated. I knew the best way to avoid this was to get all of my water and. It is also supposed to help with sagging skin, don't know if that's true. But it's definitely helps with the look of our skin...

  12. Hi All!

This Tuesday marks 6 weeks. I am down 20 lbs since GB surgery, and very happy about that. The slower I lose, the less saggy skin I'll have to deal with. I am really pushing my Protein ( in a dire attempt to prevent hairloss) which is contributing to a higher caloric intake. For me, I cannot tolerate Any fish. It constantly feels stuck, so I am avoiding it for awhile. Ground Turkey and dark meat chicken have been a life saver. I am on low residue (soft cooked food) and Tuesday I can start the long term general diet. Below is what I have been eating for 2 weeks with no problem. Turkey chili, beef chili, lunch meat, deli cheese, eggs/whites, refried Beans, whole beans, yogurt, Decaf coffee with protein, decaf chai tea made with milk, avocado, quacomole. Homemade applesauce with skins. Chicken ( prefer dark) I will start adding more veggies this week. Steamed broccoli felt really dense, like it took up alot of space. Think I might try a spinach fruit protein smoothie. Also, zone perfect Protein Bars were fine too! I was worried because they have like 23 carbs, but no dumping at all. My Nut said as long as it's balanced with protein and none of this ingredients ending in 'tol' I should be fine. I add Fiber every other day and consume approx 100 ounces of Water in addition to decaf. I have No bathroom issues and sometimes go daily!! Score. I have not felt hunger. Of course my mind is hungry, I am and will probably will be in therapy (for life) to guide me so that the impact of food on my life is minimal.

    Happy Sunday to everyone.

  13. This is what I eat each day. (I'm the kind of person that can have the same thing everyday.)

Meal 1: 1 scrambled egg and 2 pieces of bacon

    Meal 2: 4 oz cottage cheese with 1 T sugar-free strawberry preserves

Meal 3: 1 string cheese, 5 ParmCrisps, and 2 oz of chicken or salmon

Meal 4: 2 oz salmon with 1 oz green Beans

Meal 5: 2 oz hamburger steak with 1 oz green beans

Meal 6: 2 oz chicken or salmon with 1 oz green beans

    Meal 7: 4 oz cottage cheese with 1 T sugar-free strawberry preserves

That comes out to about 1000 calories, 19 grams of carbs, and 100 grams of Protein. I have 112 oz of Water as well (32 oz between Meal 1 and Meal 2, 32 oz between Meal 2 and Meal 3, 16 oz between Meals 4 and 5, Meals 6 and 7, and after Meal 7). It takes about 12-14 hours to get it all in and to allow the proper wait time before and after drinking Water.< /p>

I hope this helps. Good luck!

blizair09 .. Thanks for sharing your plan! It looks low in Fiber, do you need to supplement? I'm learning there is not much room for veggies. Definitely an adjustment from what I am used to.

    During the work week:

    7am: Protein latte

    10am: Greek yogurt/eggs/ or berries/nuts

1pm: lunch - usually out and will be either chicken or fish with salad or veg

    4pm: Some nuts/fruit or a protein bar/avocado/baby bel/eggs or the like

    8pm: Chicken/fish/pork with veg

The Snacks are based on what I am doing work wise so can change.

At the weekends I tend to just eat 3 meals and one snack and my meals are spread out more.

    Kate
