  1. i had basically the same pain. i am now 3 1/2 weeks out and pretty much painless. the doc told me that it was a combination of my stomach being swelled and the muscle they used to sew my port to. it will pass. just take it easy. but dont forget to walk. lol

  2. breakfast - i usualy have either oatmeal or yogurt w/cottage cheese.(i know it sounds gross but try it, its yummy. especially if you can mix a little granola with it)

lunch - lunch meat and cheese wraps, scrambled egg

dinner - fish with tarter sauce or crock pot chicken. (i put chicken breasts in the crock pot and either put in 2 cups of chicken broth and cook all day then shred, or a jar of salsa and cook all day and schred. top with a little sour cream and cheese.) i also have either cottage cheese or maybe a little bit of mashed potatoes.

  3. hi jennifer. welcome! no one likes to excercise but having a band makes it crucial to do something. walking is a great tool and doing it for 30 min a day is awesome. you could also break that up, doing 3 10 minute sessions or 2 15 minute sessions. i know its hard but its really necessary. had you been journaling at all? im terrible with that but that is also a good way to see where you are. if its been a month since your fill, you probably do need another one. talk to your docs. most of them have great support teams for us to bend their ears. keep us posted.

  4. i was also really shocked about tonight. i really thought bucky would be going home. but did you see ryan announce what next weeks theme is? Queen songs. what is kellie gonna do for that? i just cant picture her singing any of queens songs.

  5. i went back to the gym today for the first time since being banded (3/23). i had been taking small walks around the block but today decided to give it a go. my dh went also, this was his first time out to excercise since his thyroid surgery. i think it went pretty well. plan on going back tomorrow. i did make the mistake of lifting my grandson today. i felt a little pull and i sat down right away. just a force of habit i guess.

  6. WOW! i didnt hear that either. I too am a splenda only person. i was a diet mt dew junkie and splenda saved my butt. im gonna research this and see what i see. not that i doubt anyone, just like to read things so i can understand. i do know there is something out there called stevia. has anyone heard of that? my sis was telling me thats what she uses and loves it. dont know too much about that one tho.

  7. i slept in a recliner for about the first 4 nights. then i braved it and slept in bed. i too am a leftside sleeper so the first couple of nights i couldnt sleep there, i had to sleep on my rightside or back which was completely wierd. i did borrow one of those little bean pillows from my daughter and sleep with it between my knees and it seems to help quite a bit. i am now almost two weeks out and sleeping isnt a problem so much, but i am still using the bean pillow.

i was on a low carb diet for about two weeks pre op and liquids for four days after surgery. right now i am on soft Proteins for a month until my first fill. the choices are pretty boring right now but i do realize things will get better and i just need to do it and stick to the rules.

good luck to you. keep us updated on your progress.

  8. doty,

i truly believe your husband was there with you tonight. Sometimes the Lord has a mysterious way of showing his power and love for us and I believe tonight was His little gift to you. You are under alot of stress right now and I believe He knew you needed your husband to say "I love you sweetheart, and Im here for you."

Good luck on your banding. keep us updated on your progress. I think I too would be finding another doctor.

You're in my thoughts and prayers. Take care and have a great time with your daughter.

  9. i had to do a low carb before surgery. the purpose of this is to make your liver smaller before surgery. the smaller it is the better and my doc said that low carb is a great way to do this. if its larger it sometimes makes it harder for them to cruise around in there.
