this is a big decision for you. but i would do it over again in a heartbeat. try maybe doing some relaxation techniques. my docs psycologist gave me a meditation cd which is really good for calming you down. good luck and my prayers are with you.

thanks everyone for your input. i did try mashed potatoes today and everything was ok. still not real good with chicken. dh is still in the hospital this will be his 3rd nite. they cant seem to get his calcium levels level. i may try oatmeal this weekend, ill let you know how it goes. thanks again everyone.

well, im an official bandster! im a little sore and have alot of gas to get rid of. tried to sleep in bed last night and ended up in the recliner. will probably sleep there tonight too. was surprised when they weighed me the morning after surgery and i had gained 8lbs! they said that was due to all the liquides they pumped me with and i should lose that right away(hopefully). trying to get up and walk every 2 hours(not exactly my favorite thing right now) not really hungry, just thirsty and taking my pain meds faithfully! lol! anyway, here i am, another official bandster!:clap2:

hi everyone. i know this has been posted before, but i couldnt find it. my surgery is tomorrow and i started my period today. how is that going to work during surgery? i know someone out there can help me. this ever happen to anyone before? thanks peggy

im hoping it wont be an issue. i do know that i will be getting a catheter tho, so not sure how that will go over.

im being banded on 3/23 by dr kieran @ scottsdale barriatric in arizona. ive waited so long for this and its finally here. im very excited!

im starting at about 225. 5'4. my doc said i should try for about 130-140. i will be jumping for joy if i can hit 140. that is my personal goal.

well we sound like we are all about in the same boat. i even took some metamucil last night to try and help my wonderful dinner i had. but, its back to low carb today. yummo! so where are all of you soon to be bandsters located? i would really like to meet with someone here. im in chandler arizona. i do really love this board. everyone is very supportive.

i saw my doc today for my preop and i had already been doing low carb for the past week cuz i was afraid of the weigh in today. so tonight we are going out for an all out dinner, (mexican food), yummo, and tomorrow im back on low carb till surgery on the 23rd. she did say that low carb shrinks your liver better than low fat. so we should all be banded about the same time! i dont know about you two but i cant wait. im so ready to have this over with and starting my new life.

thanks everyone. he now has a surgery date of 3/29. that is one week after im banded. we are taking it one day at a time. he is a little more receptive to getting this done because he knows he really needs the band. just keep us in your prayers. any feedback is greatly appreciated!

well less than 2 weeks to my banding. i finally got my cardiac clearance so im good to go hopefully this time. however, my dh is really having a time. he was supposed to have been banded yesterday, but got an abnormal reading from his chest exray which led to him having a ct scan. the ct scan revealed a mass on his thyroid and the docs said that he would have to have that removed before he had surgery. well, we went and saw the general surgeon today and he informed us that he would lose his entire thyroid, be on thyroid meds for the rest of his life, and possibly calcium and vitamin d. after discussing the risks it just seems pretty scary. we are now looking at a thyroid surgery date i am assuming will be relatively soon, then waiting for recoup before scheduling his band date. he is not dealing with this too well. im trying to be as supportive as i can and still trying to prepare for my own surgery. has anyone else ever had to deal with this type of a situation before? im not sure exactly what the recoup time will be for him before he can have his band surgery done but i would just about guess that we are looking at a may band date at the earliest.

i think that the one who was under 200 was only 5 ft tall. thats quite a bit for some one who is that small.

so far im down 10lbs preop. surgery date is 3/27/06.

i hear i will be in the hospital for 23 hours. i am also being done in arizona, scottsdale. i would also bring pillows for the ride home.

i have tried hoodia. it does take hunger away. i usually take two in the morning and im good to go. sometimes if i know im going somewhere that i know will be tempting i will take another one. it seems to do the trick. of course you still have to have some type of control because otherwise you really could keep eating. but give it a try. i got mine on ebay.

well we could be band buddies. im having mine on feb 3. im not really freaking out, im really excited tho. this will be a better thing in the long run, (cheer, cheer, cheer) go team!!!!

you should still have pretty good coverage under uhc. thats what i have and they are paying all but 20%.
