  1. Thank you! I actually haven't taken any aspirin or any blood thinners of any kind since the surgery. I do see my doctor today for a post op visit, so I will be sure to mention it, thank you!

Did you check with your doctor? Do you intake aspirin? I was prescribed Aspirin after the surgery. If you do take aspirin, it might be the reason. Consult with the doctor.

  2. The day you are allowed is not always the day you should.

Eat wetter food, especially meats and try eating with a tiny spoon and fork. And chew way more than you have ever chewed before.

I picked up plastic childrens forks, knives and spoons just for the occasion. I got an entire set, like six place settings for 2 dollars at my local ikea. Great place to look for non brand name Portion Control containers.

  3. I was sleeved on 11/28 and before that diagnosed with Lyme disease and pcos. I have never has a huge problem with bruises before. My Iron count is showing fine. It's not where my surgery incisions are, but in other places, like under my arms, under my chin, and upper thighs and bottoms of hands. I look like I have been in a fight. I haven't....they are the size of grapefruits.

  4. Thanks SpaceDust. I knew it was gonna be life changing. Its just that I am an addict when it comes to food. It just really hit me like a brick when I finally realized that this is forever. I really dont know what I was thinking while I researched everything I thought I knew about this surgery. I guess there will always be something new as time goes on and more people are being sleeved. I just had one of those aha moments. Again thank you for the words of encouragement.

I was just recently sleeved on 11/28/2016. I knew that food addiction was going to be a problem for me, so I needed to have a therapist, in addition to my food/sleeve support groups. It's not just important, it's necessary. Because, this is the the biggest change I'll ever make, and food isn't the devil, but it can become it. :)That got away from me, ummm Best advise, Therapist!! :D

  5. Anyone having this problem. I start my preop diet next Monday, and I am supposed to lose 6 lbs. Should I just stay home on Thanksgiving? Or any tip and tricks to make the entire day smoother.

Hey mine is Monday following Thanksgiving as well, I'm planning on going out and wishing for the best, what kind of Pre op diet are u doing? Mine starts this Monday☺

Mine also starts this Monday. It's two Protein shakes in the morning and lunch, and then 4 oz Protein 4 oz of veggies at dinner. Any amount of broth and sugar free Popsicle. I started it a bit early. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to loose the weight needed in time. Good luck to you, looks like we will be in surgery on the same day!

  6. Honestly, don't put yourself in a room with all the thanksgiving food. It's a lot easier to say you won't cheat but it'll be harder when the food is actually right in front of you. My surgery is on 11/14 and I've declined all Thanksgiving invites. However I won't physically be able to cheat but I think I'll be cranky and it'll be worth it to skip one Thanksgiving.

  7. The things I wish I knew before surgery are:

    1. Get the Vitamin Patches.

    2. Avoid the Protein shakes as much as possible - try to get as much Protein from real food as you can.Your taste buds will change.

    3. Fluids are a constant struggle, have a variety of options available.

    4. An ice pack was my best friend while recovering.

    5. You will have several incisions and they do take time to heal.

    6. It's difficult to lay on your right side. (I'm 6 weeks out & still can't lay on my right side).

    7. unjury Protein Powder taste great in chicken Soup.

    8. GENEPRO is a good protein powder but be careful what you mix it with.

    9. Any local support groups you can attend are very beneficial.

    10. Every day it will get a little bit better.

  8. I'm also a huge fan of PB2. I get it at GNC and I swear I could just eat it off a spoon. I also add it to my Protein shake. I probably get 10 extra grams of Protein a day most days from the PB2.< /p>

Heh, I got mine for fairly cheap, from biglots of all places. It was a great find, I just wish I would have bought more. They also make a chocolate Peanut Butter one too!
