  1. I was 18th and the cramping does go away eventually but what I found is you need to take tiny sips or it's worse. We're you given any anti spasm tablets such as Buscopan? Also try a warm drink, even room temp water or weak squash may help as people can be temperature sensitive in early days. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Family Pizza Night

Lol I know that feeling. My hubby doesn't cook so I have to cook for him and wee girl - smells make me hungry but I'm happy with my 4oz of pureed food lol Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Drain tube post sleeve

Yeah I was sleeved 18/4 and tube came out next day. That was the majority of pain I felt, from the pipe irritating inside, once it was pulled out it was gone. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    cannot smell skunk

Yeah having worked in security I know the smell well but wasn't sure. Scotland isn't natural habitat for them but we have the odd wild ones escaped Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Itchy!

Yeah drove me nutty but I used Dermol500 on mine then redressed them. Just had staples out today and itching gone so now don't feel like Frankenstein anymore lol Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    4 day post op

Day 1 post op for us is 30ml an hour for 4hrs and repeat til day 2 which goes up to 60ml an hour then 100 on day 3. Day 4 is when milk, Lucozade sport, tea coffee etc comes into and day 7 is soft purees. Liquids are important, just do what you can, you know when your full etc Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Baby Food?

Buy a blender and do it yourself, I've got 10 days of puree left then I'm on solids and can't wait. I honestly buy weight watchers meals and then blitz them, one meal makes about 4 servings. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    cannot smell skunk

Lol I have tears now lol Skunk as in strong cannabis or the elusive smelly animal? (Much like our beloved haggis!) Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. We were issue with Omeperazole, Buccastem (anti nausea dissolves in mouth) and enough painkillers that would make the local drug dealer envious. I only use my omeperazole and I find it does everything needed for me as I'm not in pain. Hope this gets better for you! Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Swimming

Rule of thumb is scars have healed and if needed a waterproof dressing can be added to keep it clean. I'm only 10 days post op but will be cleared by 4 weeks for bath and pool use. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gagging and throwing up

Normally white foam means something could be stuck and causing spit to foam, had that when pregnant and it was a PITA. If it does get worse or continue then request a scope to be done to ensure throat is clear and no blockage at entrance to stomach. Wish you the best Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. OK so my last weight management class was on the 30th March and I weighed around 160kg. 11th April I had my pre op assessment and was halfway through my liver diet and weighed 155.4kg. Got my staples out today and jumped on the scales for the first time and I am down to 147.5kg. I'm very happy and shocked at the weight loss but since my trigger to know and stop eating is hiccups I must be doing something right. Question though (and I know everyone is different) but I'm only probably getting in about 15g of protein a day due to food intake and I'm fine with liquids and I drink loads of milk - do I need to try and up it at this stage? I can do a shake at 20g protein during day so that should help tomorrow. Many thanks! Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Weight loss so far

Worked out I drink about 800ml of milk a day so just shy of 30g protein in milk alone. Add a protein yoghurt so that's another 20g and 15-20g for meals is 60-70g protein so not too shabby. Not on solids yet so will bulk up on a shake a day. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Look at foods that are healthier to eat on - I couldn't do my 3 weeks liquid so I added yoghurts and low fat food options outwith what I was allowed. Lost 9kg and told my team what I was doing because I knew myself I was being careful. Surgery was fine and liver looked excellent. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any tips on chewing slowly?

We have a saying we use to help us remember to slow down. 20/20/20 Chew for 20 secs Wait 20 secs before another bite. Meal should last no more than 20 minutes (too much on plate!) Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    3 Days Post Op!!!!

Yeah those spasms will go away in a few days but use them as a tool to learn what feeling full is like. My spasms are my guide to stop eating or drinking. Welcome to the other side! Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Drain and catheter?

I had both. Catheter is mostly used here as you can't just run off the bed and reach the toilet due to obvious reasons so catheter was in 24hrs then a commode for first pee to measure then I walked to the lol each time after than from day 1 post op. The drain IMHO was the worst bit as it catches on everything and isn't comfy to lie on. It's just a tiny wee bag and the tubing is inside your. Mine was taken out day 1 post op by my nurse in HDU and it came out really easy just felt very weird. 90% of my pain was gone after removing as it was lying across organs and irritating them. If you get them it's for a reason, enjoy the experience and I never got a UTI afterwards. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Birth Control

Nexplanon implant for me, all woman of CB age must be on birth control before surgery for the obvious reason - it can be dangerous to fall pregnant within 18 months of having surgery. No issues with mine now and no periods either. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I had something similar a few years ago and no diagnostic tool helped but I discovered a family history of ulcers in weird places and that's what it was along with muscle tightness due to bowel issues. Let the softner do their job but if it gets worse then seek help as the pain can be intense. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. Day 8 post op we are allowed coffee and thankfully not stuck on decaf. A cup a day keeps the bowels happy. Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

Anxiety about my surgery on 4/24

Had surgery last Tuesday and was over 300lbs. Went home on Thursday and have had no painkillers, pain or issues healing since then. Best decision I've made after marrying my hubby and be prepared for a day or so of feeling bad but IT WILL IMPROVE. good luck Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Milk of Magnesium

Rule of thumb. Liquids in = liquids out Yeah remember that well and it will subside just get everything out by surgery or let them know Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. If it's gas then walk as much as possible but also try some warm peppermint tea as that really helped me. As for incision swelling -- if they are then you need to see a doctor incase of infection etc. We aren't given exercises or the spirometer to do, basic common sense with walking, exercise and fluids does it unless your lungs are under watch by specialist. I'm a week post op and have been very lucky with no issues and can even sleep on my belly now. Wishing you all the best and fast healing possible. 25. Tip. Invest in some Bridget Jones knickers, the high waist helps support the belly and it's way more comfy than wearing dental floss and a postal stamp square of bum fluff after surgery
