  1. You can't do it via the app as far as I'm aware so it's on main site settings - had some issues myself changing stuff which still isn't right. Is there an idiots guide to BP [emoji23]
  2. Just had my pre-op today and lost 4.4kg in two weeks - that is pretty good considering we can eat and have MR drinks. bloods, ekg and doctor visit is all that was in mine so no idea what could be US insurance ones! 5 days of eating left!!
  3. Hi lass, head to a local Home Bargains and they do a set of cooking utensils that are marked for WL groups and also their scales are great. #waves from sunny Glasgow [emoji16]
  4. 18th but in Scotland so sending support your way [emoji16]
  5. In Scotland we have to jump through a huge weight management course first before surgery is even considered and if we lose more than 11lbs during that course we are out of the running for surgery. Starts off with a class every fortnight for 12 classes, followed by a repeat of 4 monthly classes if you didn't lose weight. Repeat that with orlistat if weight not lost Surgery is only considered if you pass a psych consult and surgeon has last say on it. My preop required a OGD, blood work and weigh in tomorrow as its one week before surgery - also on a liver shrink diet for two weeks now I read some US peeps surgery requirements and am honestly shocked and annoyed at how easy it it's covered there, not their fault but jeez - it's taken me ten years to get approval here.
  6. Three week diet here of 2 MR shakes, 100g protein and 300g veggies allowed daily. Max of 68g carbs a day allowed so been fun with headaches. Our diets tho are to shrink liver as if it's too big they just close up. One week to go!
  7. Not had fizzy for over a week too and I feel much better since the shakes went. Do miss them but my liver must be rejoicing in their lol. A week on Tuesday and we will be done!

    Pre op diet fails!

I'm the 18th April and struggling a bit too but all I ate was a single oven chip. I do suggest buckling down from now - if you aren't compliant with this diet, how are you gonna manage the rest of your life. I ain't an angel and won't preach when I've slipped took but we got this, just reset tomorrow!

    4 days post op

Yeah I would call your surgeon and let them know, you will probably get your butt handed to you on a plate but you knew the risks and ate them anyway. Hoping all is OK but let this be a lesson and follow the diet.

How do I contact a moderator?

Think you need to let Alex B know, do a search for him and PM him - massive changes have happened recently but that guy asking for info is dodgy.

The trick is this - honesty. Unless you are hiding deep seated psychotic fears over weight and manic tendencies then it's not a massive issue. They are there to help you, not trip you up by denying your chance to get healthy. As for depression over obesity, most people are as that's where bad habits come in. Your job is to say what you feel but also how you tackle it, what your support network helps with. It's easier on the day, just be honest [emoji4]

Alison, lemme tell you my journey This is my 10th anniversary of weight management and I'm now thankfully 13 days from surgery. Not been easy, down right pain in ass sometimes but here it is. WM starts off with interview and then wait until placement in group for a 12 class programme every 2 weeks. If we lose 11lbs we are out If we don't loose that then we go into another stage which is once a month for 4 sessions. If we lose the 11lbs over this we are out. Next stage if not lost the weight is pharma stage of above but on Orlistat - yup - 11lb rule still applies. I'm allergic to a ingredient in it so I had medical permission to skip. Surgery classes are over 3 months at 2 week intervals, weigh ins and classes about surgery pathway, healthy eating etc. During this stage you will get a psychiatrist appointment - do not panic, just be honest. They will red flag you if they suspect your hiding issues. You will then get a surgeons appointment, THEY have the final say about what happens. Surgery normally takes place within 18 weeks of meeting surgeon. The 5kg rule can trip you up, if your at Max weight loss then they may discharge you but again depends on your programme. Interview, is it the NUT or psych one?

Hi Allison, I'm Glasgow based and NHS too, where are you about? Yeah that 5kg rule is a MFB!
  16. I don't think you can, you just need to sign out of it.
  17. Are they giving you the injections - well worth them as you do feel incredibly better within 24hrs.
  18. Nexplanon implant maybe?
  19. Wee man, my hats off too you and your whole family! It's very important for these stories to be told so thank you for having the guts for sharing it. Be safe, kick ass and sending love from Scotland (I'm a girl! [emoji16])

14 days post op 6 wks Pregnant

Please keep us updated, our programme requires all woman of childbearing age to be on BC for 6 weeks before surgical date and they do check for the hormones if on pill etc and do blood and urine check before surgery. Hoping for a positive outcome lass!
  21. Ten long (very bloody long) years of weight management programme in Scotland and I have a date! 18th April at 7.30am. *happy dance* Liquid diet for 15 days and also my grans funeral on the 7th and pre op assessment on 11th. Trying to work out calories for a shot of tequila to toast her or she's getting toasted with a slimfast! [emoji41]
  22. Thanks had it as preliminary but now confirmed by NHS so whoohoo!

    Question for the Ladies

As we know every woman is different but I've been spotting for about 4 months now and can't wait to get rid of the Nexplanon implant that's causing it due to the pcos. How are you finding the diet?
  24. Yeah weight loss will help PCOS but not cure it, but the differences are like night and day. My only problem with pcos is the 5o'clock shadow and dark spots on skin on armpits, I'm lucky enough to not have anything else and I'm not diabetic nor do I take metaformin anymore. I have successfully had a baby without help tho and that's after being told pcos would make me infertile - guess what doc - got that wrong lol. Surgery in 20 days so looking forward to never having to wax my chin again!

    Question for the Ladies

Don't panic, this happens to me everytime I lose more than 12lbs a month. As long as there is no pain, smell, itchy discharge then it's down to weight-loss and hormones but it's annoying. If in major doubt and you have a chance of pregnancy then check immediately or speak to doctor in case.
