  1. Hello,

Yes, I am having my sleeve surgery on Monday (Nov 14th).

I have been sticking to the pre-op diet, taking my Vitamins, drinking my Protein Shakes daily. I didn't find that the diet was difficult at all.

Shakes: Premier Protein shake which has about 22g of Protein per 8oz. serving. Have them in vanilla and chocolate. Not bad at all, but before I run out, I might order a different brand.

Also ordered some unjury Protein Powder and tried it in place of one of the shakes. Mixed it in 8 oz. of chicken broth. It was real good.

Just found this place and I think it is so cool.... and had fun going through the store.... can't wait to try a few items I saw there.

    2 more days! Woohoo!

Not feeling nervous at all... just excited. I am so ready for this!

I wish all of you November sleeve patients the best! Stay positive. :)

  2. I'm nervous too! I've been busy these past 2 weeks but now it's sinking in that it's really happening. I'm only nervous about the hospital experience though. I think I'll breathe a sigh of relief once I'm back home on 11/16.

Yeah I have lots of plans for the next three days. Today was my last day of work so now it's time to get my house all cleaned up, post op groceries bought, prescriptions picked up. Anything I can do to keep my mind off of Monday. Best of luck to you on your surgery!

  3. My surgery is on the 14th as well. I used to live about fifty miles from Charlotte in Lexington! I'm in Houston Texas now. I have to be at the hospital at 5AM that morning. The pre op diet was/is hard for me, I'm doing 14 days of it. It'll be better soon though. Good luck to you!

I actually live in King which is not to far from Lexington. But my insurance company is making me go to Charlotte for the surgery. Good luck with your surgery!

  4. Surgery is scheduled in Charlotte NC on Monday. I am a little nervous but mostly excited. I turned 50 in October and this is a present to me after taking care of everyone else my entire life. Insurance approved me on the the 3rd, surgeons office called me that day to schedule and I started the pre-op diet the next day. I like that way it worked out because I didn't have a lot of time to think about it all.

The diet was rough the first two days but now it's not bad at all. 3 Protein shakes a day and broth or sugar free Jello to fill in between meals. I really thought I would be starving and moody but I really haven't been. Just really excited about surgery.

My mother just knows that something horrible is going to happen but I have assured her that all will be well. My husband and kids are all supportive so I am lucky.

    Prayers appreciated!

    • @queencity, where are you having surgery? Who is your surgeon? My surgery is 11/09 at CMC--Mercy with Dr Kuwada from Carolina Weight Management.
I am here in Charlotte, my surgeon is dr. Vollianger ( southeast bariatrics) with novant health. What time is your surgery? Mine is at 10 am?

How did your surgery go with Dr. Voellinger? He is doing my surgery Monday the 14th at Presbyterian Medical Center.

  5. I have actually told several people. I figured that every who knows me well would see the change in diet and drastic weight loss and know I didn't suddenly figure out how to successfully shed tons of weight so I might as well be upfront. Especially after I was out of work for two weeks. Everyone I work with has been extremely supportive. The only person that hasn't really been that supportive is my mom which is laughable since she spent my entire childhood telling me how fat I was and comparing me to my size 0 sister. But everyone is different so if you don't want everyone to know then you just tell them whatever makes you feel comfortable. Don't sweat it!
