  1. Make sure that your not "justifying" your eating because "you had a bad day" or "you deserve a cheat day" I r your mad at your spouse and want to hurt him, but end "hurting" yourself instead.

Say this is awesome food and I want a bite. Treat it as a treat and not a reward.... that is how I got up to 380lbs. Like myself I Keep focusing on I deserve to be healthy and look at food as fuel. I fall off the wagon, but keep getting back on. It's when you stop getting back on that you fail, not when you fall off.

  2. I had at 3 or 4 weeks out rolls made with smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado, no rice. No issues. Although it was totally weird just eating one order when I used to eat 4 or 5! But it was all I could eat! Amazing.

  3. I can't recommend this enough! It didn't take but maybe 20-25 lbs AND WALKING on the treadmill and I have been able to take the shower chair out of the shower, go shopping, do dishes... all the things I was having issues with prior to surgery. With the back pain not screaming so loud... my hip arthritis squawks at me. But I will take it!

  4. Does anyone eat Baby food during the Puree phase?

I did because I couldn't tolerate the Celebrate, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, BariLife or Chike! shakes. I finally went back to the Atkins shakes even though they had less Protein because the baby food had too many carbs versus Protein.

  5. I am going to advise giving a little more info to your college professors than taking care of a personal or family matter. You don't have to go into specifics, you can say "getting treatment for a medical issue" or "having surgery" without going into more detail. But as a professor myself, if someone just told me they needed to be out of class for "personal reasons" without more, I'm not sure I would allow it without deducting from their grade. Either that or I would allow it but carry on with the assumption that the student was 1) a flake; 2) an addict seeking treatment; or 3) a criminal who was going to spending time in the county lockup to clear their burglary/assault/drunk driving charge.

Lol... this is why I didn't keep mine a secret. I didn't want people thinking I had become a drug addict or cancer patient all of a sudden. ????

    Hi everyone,

I'm new here but have been browsing this site for weeks. I'm finally going to have my sleeve surgery February 13th. I'm in College and I work, yet no one (except my boyfriend & 1 trusted friend) knows that I'm doing this. I'm petite, only 5'0" but I struggle to get below 195 lbs. These past few years that I been obese, I'm always yo-yo-ing between 197 - 230 lbs. I carry my weight well and as a spur of the moment conversation with my hair stylist, I told her I'm thinking of weight loss surgery & she told me I don't need it because my fat is in "all the right places". People don't understand so I decided to keep my weight loss surgery a secret.

Has anyone else here kept their w.l.s a secret? What excuse did you give your work and/or college when you needed time off? I'm planning on only taking a week off from work and school but I don't know what to say as an excuse to give. I really don't want to say I'm getting w.l.s because it's personal to me and I don't want to hear people's opinions of what I should and shouldn't do with my body.

Thanks! (My post won't scroll anymore, forgive the errors below. I was spelling "thanks" & couldn't see it.

But being a student at a college, your quite anonymous anyway. So unless you have a large circle of close friends there, it isn't that big of a deal. College isn't like your job, where they actually "see" you you know?

  6. I have the same issue. Thanks for asking! I had not thought about density and "sliders" before. I feel horrible when I eat denser foods. Something to think about though... As I have been eating like a bird and as a result my calories have gone up. Maybe my food is sliding through too quickly and causing that gnawing feeling.

  7. Psych evaluation is required by most insurance companies. Self pay... I would strongly suggest you pay for a session or two to give you some coping mechanisms. It is counseling, not so much as a psych evaluation.

  8. I will caution you against this... no alcohol! You have an infants stomach and you wouldn't give an infant alcohol would you?

You drank while eating? Another huge no no.

If you took the bread off the shrimp, I could see you eating that, shrimp scampi would be ok if you let most of the fat drain off. Same for the shrimp only on the Pasta. No pasta! But even taking those measures, you should only be eating about 5 pieces and that is it! Your stomach is 4-8ozs big and still healing. The nerves haven't healed entirely either yet, so you won't know if you have injured yourself?

You spent a lot of money on this procedure... would be a waste if you continue to eat like the old you. I understand this might have been a "treat" meal... but, please read what we all have said. Find another outlet to "treat" yourself.

  9. In one of of the group discussions on this site, someone used the term "fatties" when talking about a group of overweight people. I couldn't believe their temerity!

But I do understand the OP's direction of thought.

Dave Ramsey says if you want to be a millionaire, then do what millionaires do.

If you want to be a thin or healthy person do what they do. And sometimes that means making choices to keep ourselves from being sidelined.

Their are plenty of soul mates out there, we just have to find one that is more closely related to our goals, values, character, and even health views.

I have always found intelligence, confidence and humor a primary attraction, secondary attraction were chubby men (or fit fat) ...more attractive than thin or even muscled men. I have no idea if that will change... but I will always want only healthy for my hubby. And if that means thin, so be it. And his current status of being overweight I know for him, he feels horrible. His recent weight loss of 14 lbs shows him feeling so much better and it shows in his self esteem.

But if I were single, I would be less inclined to date someone who uses food to Celebrate as that is one of my triggers. I second what another post said. food was my drug of choice. I can't afford to continue in a behavior that is my trigger, and if it means changing the types of people you hang out with, then you must. Criminals do it when they get out of prison and are on probation, drug and alcohol addicts do it in order to preserve their sobriety. So sometimes in order not to backslide, you might have to do it when considering a life partner.
