  1. Counting Protein carbs fat AND calories will make you insane

    Formula: 1gr of Protein or carbs=4 calories 1gr fat= 9 calories

For the first week had three shakes a day. I made then with unsweetened cashew milk (125 calories each) and 1/4 cup of cottage cheese or yogurt with 10 grams of added protein (140 calories)

78 grams of Protein and carbs (79x4)= 326 calories.

By day 10 I was getting in at least 90 grams of protein and about 10 calories in carbs (100x4) =400 calories

When I had my one month NUT follow up I hadn't lost any weight in 8 days. I was OKed to start mushy food and start eating fish and chicken (i was avoiding meat).

The NUT looked over my food diary and suggested I add some fat to my diet. So I switched to 2% fat cottage cheese, full fat yogurt, started to have one shake a day made with 1% milk and added avocado, Mayonnaise and olive oil to my diet.

    80 grams protein and 20 grams of carbs (100x4) = 400 calories

    10 grams of fat (10x9)=90 total=490 calories

Now at 9 weeks out I have a Protein Shake in the morning, two meals of "regular" food and a high protein evening snack.< /p>

My goal is at least 100 grams of protein no more that 25 grams of carbs I don't monitor fat at all since my portion 3-4 oz size makes over doing fat nearly impossible.

That comes to 700-800 calories a day depending on how much (unmeasurable) fat there is in the meat

25 gr of carbs and 100gr protein (125x4)= 500 calories

    + 25 grams of added fat (20x9) = 189 calories

A total of 689 calories- plus the unknown amount of fat calories in meat or fish , total is also higher on days I eat cheese.

    Hope this helps!

most people already take a b complex supplement after WLS, lipotic acid is an antioxidant but it also helps metabolize glucose. My Dr thinks that all diabetics should take it. Have you ever tried turmeric capsules? Couldn't hurt, might help.

I used to believe otherwise but in the past decade I have become a believer in herbs and Vitamins. I woke up with Bell's palsy about 2 weeks after my WLS, a week later I started on lysine and from then on my symptoms improved every day and other than slight weakness in my lower eye lid I was back to normal in 8 days.

  3. I know that years of yoyo dieting has made losing weight slower and harder for me. I actually decided to have WLS after following a 1200 calorie a day plan for almost three months and only losing 5 pounds. I think the drugs you mentioned cause weight gain because people on them eat more calories. Ask your surgeon about your meds and slower weight loss, he/she will know if other patients have this concern.

Consider keeping a two week food journal (keep track of carbs, Protein and fat) and review it with the NUT to see what you can change up. I know I started to lose more weight when I added fat to my diet.

  4. By "not eating healthy" do you mean not following your prescribed diet? Being the same weight for days or weeks is normal but gaining 11 pounds isn't.

How much Protein and carbs do you eat daily?

    Drinking enough Water?

    Exercising?

    Avoiding "Slider" foods and alcohol?

You don't have to justify any of this to me but you do need to be honest with yourself.

The WLS is just a tool. To lose weight we really have to do ALL the work ourselves.

  5. Yes, you bring up food you ate to much. Measure you food into your bowl or plate and eat slowly, it didn't take me much time to find the fine last need between enough and one bite to much. I eat lots of chicken and fish. At mushy I mixed Protein with a 1/2 teaspoon of potato flakes and a tablespoon of Milk so it would be moist. Also ate lots of pureed chicken Soup, sometimes with a teaspoon of sour cream.

I make 2-5 days of meals at once. Honestly, other that an occasional craving for popcorn or chocolate, I don't care about food like I did before WLS and happily eat whatever container happens to be in the front of the shelf.

  6. I suspect that some of the weight gain is due to Over eating a using the birth control as an excuse. No oral hormone tx can cause a 15 pound weight gain.

That being said there are people who suddenly gain a great deal of weight with implants and chemical IUDs. This is not a normal side effect. The cause should be ruled out even if you change methods, a visit to an endocrinologist might be in order.

  7. Wow. I buy all my stuff from LuLaRoe and it does work magically at fitting no matter what size. But sounds like your options are more cost effective!

I have twice now gotten tops on s"Sammy dress" for under $10.00 that I saw in Boutique shops for over $75.00. Also a bathing suit with built in tummy flattening and an underwire bra for $6.00!

But you can't beat Amazon for fast delivery.

  8. I am saving stuff made of high quality fabric and things that I can cut down myself.

I have a beautiful size 24 black velvet opera jacket that I plan on turning into a knee length coat if I can find matching black velvet. My old adjustable dress dummy only goes up to size 16 I'm in a 20 now but look forward to sewing some altered formal wear. I think the kids do call this "up cycling"

  9. Chompers eats apples and raw carrots and cat poop and chicken food. I finnally found something won't eat! Sardines, he did eat the two cheese "crackers". Not a big fan of them myself, but they are loaded with lysine and I live in terror that the Bell's palsy will return if I deviate from the diet and supplement regiment.

I would post a picture of what I looked like (hideous) but can't figure out how to post older photos.

  10. No lotion or cream is going to help but you should moisturize your skin anyway. It's a goodidea wear a sleep bra to assist gravity and keep loose breast skin from thinning a stretching.

Compression garments, toning leggings and the like will make you look better in cloths and like sleep bras lessen the effects of gravity. I like the genie brand, low cost and much sturdier than spanks, though you need to be about a size 18 or smaller for the leggings.

Depending on age and genetics some of the skin will shrink that's why (reputable) plastic springs tell you to wait a year or two after weight loss to have cosmetic surgery .
