MarBella got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
This is a personal decision. However, I did let people know for two reasons. First, one woman who had been successful with her surgery was so forthcoming with information, she continues to be very supportive afterward too. I do go to a monthly support group at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, but find her to be a great help. I hope I can do the same for other people who may consider this type of weigh loss. I am 5' 1" and weighed 204 lbs. I had the surgery done on November 2016. So far, I have lost 41 pounds. The second reason is because I am hoping this is the weight program that will work. I have been on so many diets all my life and this time, I know it is a life change. People that know how hard this has been for me do not try to sabotage my attempt to eat small portions and avoid carbs. My grocery shopping has changed, menu planning has changed. I feel like I have been given another chance to a healthier life.

Hi Everyone! I live in Southeastern CT. I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery back on 10/8/2014 at Backus Hospital with Dr. Mark Tousignant ..whi is now at Manchester Hosp in South Windsor. I started at 243lbs 5'4 . I am now at 162lbs. I had a little regain of like 12 to 13lbs and went to see my surgeon and he helped my start to lose that plus a couple lbs more. I followed him to his new office to remain a patient of his. I love my sleeve and do not regret it. I feel like the person I lost is able to step out again...always felt me inside but felt trapped in my body and dis not want to continue on that path. My weight came off mainly over the first year..and a few more after but I maintained for the most part.

This is my very first time on a forum so i'll ask forgiveness in advance for the long post. I had my sleeve in Oct 2013. I'm down 76lbs and have about 20 to go. I have not had to work very hard at this, although I think that was a gift from God to make up for the most miserable 4 weeks of my life right after surgery. I really only started eating regularly after about 2-3 months. Everyone keeps telling me how great I look, but i'd rather feel better. My hair is falling out due to not getting enough Protein the first few months, hopefully now that I am getting in my Protein it will stop soon. I feel dehydrated a lot due to struggling to get my fluids in, although its slowly improving. I used to drink Water by the gallons pre-op and now I cant drink it all all unless it is flavored, and then only in very small amounts. It is finally getting easier to ingest food without nausea so I am getting the food in now. The Fluid issue is up and down, it just seems like way to much effort needed to get it in. I'm hoping once its warmer out I'll want to drink more. I'll just keep trying. I was pretty fit pre-op even though so overweight because I'm so active, so I am just now starting to see some loose skin stuff-It's time to lift some weights I guess! Also, I stopped taking the Prilosec. I don't like to take pills, and have no interest in taking one for the rest of my life. I eat pretty healthy/organic for the most part, I just want my stomach/hcl to do its job naturally. I'm seeing my Dr tomorrow for my 4 month check, he'll probably be pissed off at me for stopping the Prilosec because of the potential infection issue, but I've been fine. Is there anyone out there who does not take Prilosec?

I made a delicious creamy butternut squash Soup. It's a slow cooker recipe from the Gimme Some Oven website http://www.gimmesomeoven.com/slow-cooker-butternut-squash-soup-recipe/
I highly recommend it; delicious! Mashed sweet potatoes are also great. I guess you can have puréed turkey, but that's too dry. Good luck!
