  1. I would have to agree with you on this one. I am 26 weeks pregnant now. Had my band for just a year prior to getting pregnant and lost about 50-60 lbs. I have since gained 40 lbs with the pregnancy so far. Yes it is frustrating, but puking through the band is way not cool!!!! Plus it hurts. So don't worry about the weight gain, if your MD recommends to get it unfilled then do it!. You lost the weight once, you can do it again.

  2. Hey,

This is exactly my problem. I was doing so great in January, then I got a fill in January, after that fill I was Pbing alot, so in Feburary when it came around time for me to get a fill, the doctor told me to hold off and come back in 2 months. Now I know I need a fill because I can eat way more than a cup of food in a sitting. I wonder if some of my saline came out, it is possible. I have been stuck give or take a few pounds for 2 months now. I will lose a few pounds, them regain the same pounds I just lost. I need to get back on that steady road down with the pounds. I am calling my MD today and making them get me in earlier. I just ate a large banana and a cup of yogurt and I could eat more but I will not because I don't want to see the scale go up. Thanks for posting your stroy, it has helped me to realize now is not the time to give up. I was sitting here thinking to myself. Well 53 pounds is all I may lose.

  3. I too have been a little frustrated with my band. Back in January I was Pbing so much that when I went in for a fill in Feb he didn't fill me. Now it is April and I am the same weight I was in Feb. I haven't even lost a pound in 2 months. I guess it probably becuase I need a fill, but even boosting up my activity hasn't proven to be working. I am down like 53 pounds from surgery, but I would ideally like to lose at least another 30. I keep hoping and watching what I put in my mouth LOL

  4. I hear ya, I have had one fill so far, going in a Monday for a second, and boy I can tell I need one. I can eat just about anything, english muffins, bread etc. No Pbing nothing. I know that just becuase I can doesn't mean I do, but I am hungry all the time. I haven't gained any weight, I actually have lost 36 lbs since surgery so doing well there, but I need some help with this incredible hunger. I hope things get better after another fill.

  5. I just had my first fill on 10/09/08. He put I think 1.5 cc in my band but I already had 1.0 cc from the priming during surgery. I really cannot tell a difference yet. I still think I eat way to much, but I haven't gained any weight. I have been at a stall for a few weeks now. I am going back for a second fill 11/17/08, so hopefully that will help me out allot more. Till then I have to be consious that I have the band and that I am to watch my calories everyday.

  6. No Melissa,

Sorry to hear about your Protein deficiency. I am not as far out as you so I haven't had to deal with this. Although I do drink 2 Protein shakes everyday, well almost at least one a day. So I am getting 60 grams of Protein just in the shakes a day plus whatever I eat. Well the good news is now you know and should be able to bounce back and be more consious of your protein intake. Good Luck to you. I cannot see any reason why this problem cannot be corrected, being a nurse I know many people that become protein deficient and take supplements. The problem lies when people cannot absorb the protein in their system. But hopefully you are not dealing with a malabsorption issue

  7. There also isn't enough Protein in this sample diet that you wrote here. You need at least 60-65 gm per day no matter what. Your body thinks it is starving and is holding onto the weight. Are you still drinking you Protein shakes. I am going on 2 months post op and still have 2 a day. My dietician says that I need them and I have lost 32 lbs in 71/2 weeks. I would beef up on the Protein so you body doesn't think it is starving

    Good Luck

  8. I had terrible gas pain too. I literally had to walk the entire first night home, I was so uncomfortable. My MD prescribes liquid oxycodone for the pain, well this did nothing for the gas pain. I was miserable, I walked around my house for the whole night, hopin it would pass. I never was so happy when I started burping and passing gas from the other end. The shoulder gas pain lasted about 2 weeks, before i realized it was completly gone. Good Luck and walk walk walk

  9. I was banded August 21, 2008. I got my first fill on 10/09/08, he put 2.5 cc in my band. I really cannot tell yet when I eat but the good thing is that my hunger has been in check since I got the band. I have lost 30 lbs so far and doc says I'm doing great, getting another fill in 6 weeks. Well see. Overall the fill process didn't hurt a bit, my 4 year old was with me and watched LOL

  10. I have to agree, your weight loss is good, we were banded about the same time and that is about the same amount of weight I loss. I was at a stall for about 2 weeks, and was very disappointed for awhile, but then they kept telling me that this was very normal. I had my first fill on the 9th. So far I really cannot tell a difference, but I haven't overeaten either. So we will see what happens. He put 2.5 cc in the band.

  11. I went through this stall too, it is our bodies going into shock of not getting the calories it was used to. So our bodies tries to hold on to the weight, remember that is our bodies back up energy, after it figures out that this is all the calories it is going to get, it readjusts, and the weight starts to come off, I was stalled at the same weight for 2 weeks, and was very discouraged, but after that it started falling off about 2 lbs a week. Just hang in there, it will get better, and we didn't gain it all over night, I have even had cheesecake and Pasta when we went to the Olive Garden and I am still losing.

  12. It took me 6 days after surgery to finally have a bowel movement, I took one dose of MOM and it worked, I only have a BM about every 3 days, but the doctor says that it is normal becuase we are taking in very little food. coffee works for me too, good luck it seemed like I just needed to get things going again, plus the pain medications make us constipated.

    Good Luck

  13. Well for being just 48 hours post op, I'd say that you are doing very well. I know I stayed in bed pretty much for the first 2-3 days watching Movies and sleeping, of course I did walk when I was suppose to. Didn't want to get a blood clot LOL. I guess that's just the nurse in me LOL. I was just so glad to be off work that I took advantage of it like a vacation. Good Luck with your journey. As far as "bandster Hell" I guess I haven't experienced this, I like the fact that I can still eat without getting sick, so if I go out to eat, I can still enjoy most foods only in smaller portions. I thought that was the point of the band. I still don't eat bread and soda. I tried to eat a breadstick when we went to the Olive Garden, but was so damn scared it was going to get stuck that I freaked out and stopped eating it LOL.
