  1. For me, it's my personal relationship with the Lord. I have nothing but peaceful faith and trust in Him. I was just reminded last night how I can tolerate only eating 2ozs each meal with no snacking in between. And how can those 2ozs give me hunger satisfaction? Well, I haven't had "hunger pains" at all since my surgery. My surgeon used the original Lap-band with no fill since he said it gives better restriction. I thank the Lord for guiding him to use that one. I also thank the Lord for this satisfied feeling I have. Whenever my mind wonders if I'm hungry, He automatically lets me know I'm ok and He'll take care of me!! I can't explain the peace I feel except to say, based on what I read others are fighting who were banded same day(s) as me....I haven't had the hunger/cravings that some of them are fighting.
  2. Oh, and to top the story off, my DH brings it up again as I'm dozing off to sleep. He states to me, "well, you're the one who has to put up with all this hard work ahead of you..."Not knowing if I'm too tired to say something abck or trying to figure out what he meant about that...it gave him time to restate it.."well, not you yourself, but all of us with you, hon." now then I was able to fall off into a sweet sleep! "Thank you Lord, for my dear hubby!!"
  3. Not that this really bothers me or made me upset in the least....but just a cute story. I was at my mom's church (one I grew up in) for my sister's college graduation supper/party. My DH came up to me and said..."your mom's ratting you out." I look over to where she is, with 3 of my old friend's, 2 of which are heavy-set, and she has her mouth covered. My DH tells me she's telling them about my banding. I snicker it off. Then before I leave, the pastro's wife comes up to me and whispers..."I heard you had THE surgery?" ok mom.....but I'm still not mad. When I called her on it, she just gave me a big hug and told me she's only so proud of me for being willing to take this step. Made me want to cry. I love her so much and she won't be around forever!! And after finding 1 Corinthians 10:13, nothing anybody has to say about the band will effect me. PTL!!!
  4. WELCOME all new Christian threaders!!! SUSAN, welcome back to you too! CONGRATS on your new band date!!
  5. Be careful and safe, Christy!! May the Lord continue to heal your DH while on the road.
  6. Hopefully an extra does of potassium is all that is needed. Anxious to hear what your PCP says....God bless!!
  7. I feel really great today. And I have so enjoyed my 2oz meals ) I got a little hungry and hr ago when my kids asked what was for supper. My daughter threw in a shepard's pie in the micro...I felt much better after I took a little bit of potatoes of and thinned out with water and some Mrs. Dash. I'm actually full now!! I just can't get over how amazing this is...so far )
  8. I'm not addicted...but no BIG deal! My scale is 2lbs off from doc's but hey, i don't stress out about it. I weigh every day just for the fun of it. heck, you loose what you loose when you do!!
  9. 5 and 4 were stapled! Now I have railroad tracks to look at! Port one was superglued.
  10. Anurse at my doc's office told me yesterday an oz of wine will sometimes help relax the esophagus to help pas stucked stuff. She said also some meat tenderizer in warm water...dont' know effects on gum though. I will be very curious to see how your outcome goes, pls let us know!
  11. After my banding last Weds, my pastor announced during Weds nite prayer mtg to remember me, that I had a "minor" procedure earlier that day. I went back to church last night for 1st time since. I didn't go Sunday because I didn't want to get questioned on anything. I wasn't assured at that time. Then this past Weds morning, I picked up my women's devotional Bible, found a card from my BF (my pastor's wife) she gave me a few months ago. I never took the time to look up the verse she put in it, 1 Peter 5:7. Well, in my women's Bible, beside this verse, it also mentioned to read 1 Corinthians 10:13..."No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will no let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." I thanked the Lord immediately for showing me that verse, then went to church with my head held high! PTL!!!
  12. Hi all sisters in Christ. I am praying for you all for God's strength, peace, and understanding. God bless each of you and your families!
  13. Hi Erika! I feel really great today. I had my staples removed yesterday so no more stinging and itching. I'm really feeling back on tract. I'm on 2nd day of my 2wks of full liqs...still not much appetite so I know I'll need more strength from our Lord when it hits me. My DH is dying to go out and eat somewhere. It's been a while. He'll name a few places then renig when he remembers my FL diet for now. I told him I honestly wouldn't mind going, that I could handle it. Txs again for asking about me. I tried the Special K protein water yesterday. The tea flavor is dry to the mouth. St/kiwi is good. It has 5gms protein. Plus I had 2 cups of FF milk, 8gms each. That' helps curve appetite during meals.
  14. EGGGS.....yummy!!!!! I got mad because I forgot to buy some at Wallyworld yesterday. I know the greeter is tired of seeing me-ha!
  15. Shoot...since I've been told to take 30mins each meal to eat, who wouldn't question you being in a happy "talkative" mood with no time to eat?? It could get to where no one would bother to even ask you what you're eating!! And I don't mean this in a mean way, just a funny way to lighten up our new lifestyles here-ha!
  16. Potatoes give you gas...but heck, so does every other food we eat!! KUDOS WILLSMOMMY!!!! You enjoy whatever your body desires and can handle!! I can have thinned potatoes 2nd wk out and have already bought a box (yuck, but to make it easier-LOL)....as far as gravy, you gave a good point...you used it to thin out your potaotes, not to lard them up...plus you took 2 bites...Yes some may say "gravy?" but hey, the main issue here is portion sizes. I've been told after 6wks, I can eat WHATEVER, just no fried foods, sweets, bad food...that is, if I want my weight loss to slow down. But as long as I stick to proper portion size, ENJOY!! I too am sorry for the blasting you have received.
  17. Per my scales at home, I've lost 10lbs the 1st week. We'll see what the doc scale says when I go in a few hrs-ha-LOL!!
  18. Thank you, Nortone!! God bless you too!!!
  19. I was banded on the 7th. I feel great and super today!! I can tell my stomach swelling has gone down. I had my 1st official brkfst just now....2ozs of cream of wheat, thinned, made with FF milk. YUMMY!!!!! It went down good and satisfied me. I go in at 11a for post-op visit to get my staples out. That will make me feel even better. Glad we're all feeling better and getting back on our feet.
  20. My HS sweetheart, turned fiance, broke our wedding 3mos before our date. Never could give a straight-up reason...DAH..dummy me!........ My sis and I were riding in my little red Nissan Pulsar when a bunch of girls turned the corner, started hackling and I could hear one say..."My G...look at that fat lady in that little car!" My sis heard but said nothing to me for encouragement. She was honestly speechless because she's such a dear heart. I wasn't, I was used to comments like that. Just this Mother's day weekend, my mom's aunt meets my 13yr old daughter...her first comment.."well, she's a big one like you too" I', glad my Rachel's nowhere as big as I was at her age!!
  21. Banded 5/7 and had same symptoms. Less now. There are times I burp so I know they're diff causes. Sometimes my pain will like "spasm" up into my neck, but the go away wihtin seconds. But, like I said, less now than 2 days ago! Does anyone have this constant pain in their bottom left ribcage?
  22. I was banded last weds, the 7th. I'm finally "surgical incision" pain free, but I do have gas still that hurts. Also, since Sunday night, I've developed a constant dull to sharp pain right below my left ribcage. My port is on the right so it's not that. I slowed down on my incentive spirometer so that may have some to do with it. I've got it at my work desk to use more often. I will be asking my doc about it when I go to see him tomorrow.
  23. Thank you, ImaDucky...and CONGRATS on your successful weight loss!! That's such a great feeling and God deserves all glory!! I sat down on my toilet that faces a mirror..HEY, I can see my collar bones again!!!!
  24. Jessica, I too am sorry for your disappointment. My thoughts for you will stay positive and hopeful!! You are a strong person, you will succeed!!!!!!!
  25. I find it amazing how diff everyone eats after their banding. Tha band makes your new tummy pouch the size of an egg. That's 2ozs worth of room. If you eat more than that at one sitting, then you're stretching that stomach back out to what causes weight gain. This is why it works as a tool. I'm being instructed by my doc's nut to eat only 2ozs (that's 1/4 cup) for the first few months. By one yr, I can move up to 1/2 cup. She said people with good results are up to 1 whole cup by 2nd yr, no more than that. Also, important key to help your body lose weight and curve hunger...PROTEIN!!!!
