    Learned a Lesson

hey girl! had my 1 week post-op appt today. lost 8 lbs! was hoping for more, but thrilled! hope all is well with you! doc said i can have a cocktail now too! wooo! going to a FUN bar tomorrow in Denver with the friends....mango martini, here i come!
  2. hey jtag! i'm good, feeling better by the day. getting pretty hungry now that i'm still on full liquids for another few days!
  3. hey there! I am also a 3/19/08 bandster! WOO for us! I'm thrilled to learn my cold hands and feet may actually be some weight loss! Don't worry too much about the bloat, my dietician suggested lemon slices squeezed into my water to get rid of retention, and it works wonders in about half a day. (your rings and waist band will fit better, less swelling). As well, i have not had much luck getting tons of fluids down, maybe 1 liter a day? I just dont' feel thirsty and it's hard to go from a gulper to a sipper! But i am working to improve that. Don't worry about all those superheros who were able to return to normal tasks within 24 hours or anything. I felt like death for 2 days, slightly normal on day 3, then day 4 and today feel pretty good. Anyhoo, adding tomato soup to my liquid diet at my doc's suggestion has been a Godsend. It has a little sodium to help bloat and has flavor too! Good luck.
  4. I'm only 5 days post-op, but my doc DRILLED into my head that minimum 60 grams of protein a day is crucial, hard to do without at least 1 protein shake! He said the high quality ones like Nectar and Isopure are best (most give about 23 oz/grams per serving), but GNC brand and even the new Slim Fast high protein ones are ok now and then. I did a lot of shopping online to find decent protein. I recommend that. The shakes aren't terrible tasting. Flavors like caramel, banana, chocolate or blueberry also taste GREAT if you freeze a sugar-free vanilla pudding and throw that in there too when blending. Then divide the shake into 2 cups, have one in the a.m and one at night, as dessert. good luck.
  5. Hi there! I got banded last Wednesday, i'm officially a bandster! WOO! First 2-3 days were TOUGH. I didn't react well to anesthesia or the liquid hydrocodone right after surgery. Woke up with lots of pain in chest, confusion, nurses all buzzing in my ear, etc. I think anesthesia gives that chaotic, confused sense when you first come out of it. Had to drink the contrast RIGHT AWAY after waking and was forced to sit up, (MORE PAIN) so they could x-ray and see the band's placement. Then 2 days of sore throat, no appetite yet hunger pains, soreness, sleepy, etc. By day 3 i was feeling more human, by yesterday I had appetite back BIG time, feeling pretty good! No longer asking myself if I made a huge mistake, ya know? Anyhoo, they kept me overnight because I vomited twice in the hours after surgery, but none since then, just this odd occurrence of spitting up watery spit into the sink a few times...while chest burns. Have you had that? Also, I'm on liquids only for a few more days. Tomato soup, egg drop soup, apple juice, etc. This is getting old. Any suggestions for mostly clear/not heavy/not creamy foods?

    Does Size Matter?

Hello Enjoy, you and I seem to be on a similar path, I was supposed to be banded tomorrow, 3/11 but had to put off until next week, on 3/19 due to a terrible flu I caught. I too, am FILLED with questions. I'm not great at posting, but I'd love to hear your thoughts or questions, I feel like I've gotten a ton of answers, especially in the chat room. Good luck!

does the temperature of fluids you drink tend to affect the band? also, what does PB mean? I'm new....

    New to site from Louisiana

hi there, i'm being banded next tuesday, the 11th. i'm very excited but struggling with the idea of never eating a certain way again. is it true NO starches ever? i can go a long time without them, but the idea i'll never get to have gooey garlic bread again saddens me.
