  1. Thanks Sleevepanda, but I did terrible yesterday. I was only able to down two of my four shakes. I got home after discharged and I have slept twelve hours. I'll be back on trying the Protein again and Water intake. I just don't feel the hunger and nausea isn't helping any. But we just have to worry about protein and water intake for now. Wishing the best for all those beginning their journey like me.

  2. I've been considering this surgery for about 15 years... It is not something I just jumped into... Yesterday, because of many stressors in our life right now, my husband lashed out at me and told me " You're just taking the easy way out, If you would just TRY and commit to 3-4 years of really hard work you could do it on your own!"

Uh, um.... I wanted to lash out, to tell him where the bear went in the woods... But I prayed and thought about it for a couple of hours. In the end I wrote him a letter, and attached testimonies from Dr and patients, along with research. At about 10:00 last night we finally talked.

He understands what I'm going through, and He reminded me of all the stress we have been under. He said he still feels that way and is not a proponent of WLS, but he supports me in my choice. He told me to schedule the surgery and we will get through it.

I'm still sad at his response. I know it is stress, But I have been praying on my own and together with him. I know this is the best and right thing for me.

My date will be February 7th, at Bariatrix FL with Dr. Amit Taggar.

I know God is BLESSING me daily! I know He will walk with me! I'm ready!

    Amen

  3. Those are some great questions to ask. I personally have not undergone my surgery as of yet, but have lost some weight under my weight management and expect to have lost some more with my pre-op diet. Having been obese for practically all of my life, I can't help but say that I would feel empathy/compassion towards people that are in the same situation.

  4. I agree with everyone here, your best bet will be to buy clothes from Goodwill, Salvation Army or any place similar where you'll be able to find cheap, but good clothing. At least I don't see myself spending money on clothes every few months and having to give everything else almost brand-new away. BTW, congratulations on your surgery! Best of luck!

  5. Everyone, thank you very much. Yes, I am psyched, I'm excited and definitely cannot wait until a date has been set. I'll be expecting to take the full month off work, I don't know that I will feel that I need it, but if the surgeon is requesting it, I'll definitely go for it. I need the time off and I'll be able to be more active on here.

  6. Congratulations! Are you paying for this on your own or just waiting to see what the copay is going to be?

I'll be going through my insurance. Just received a phone call this Friday afternoon, I'm looking at $860 for my surgeon.

  7. Way to go Texas! Wahoo! Next week I have the final follow up appt (18 mos) and my life has been changed forever, have not regained a pound, and have been transformed physically.

that's great VDB, I'm glad to hear man. I am looking forward to that myself. I think I have all the tools I need to get this started.

  8. Alright guys, just like the title suggests, I have finally been approved! Just waiting to hear from my surgeons office to see how much I have to fork over and be able to have a date set. I have to admit, this is pretty exciting. Just at arms length it feels like.

  9. Yes, I love my FitBit. I bought the FitBit flex, about two months ago, which is one of the more basic ones but it does everything I need. It helps monitor sleep amount, Water intake, caloric intake and serves as a stepometer. Pretty simple to use and not very expensive. I paid $76 after taxes, but it seems to be a lot less expensive now. I think its a great tool for beginners. I definitely encourage you look into the different capacities per Fitbit and see what works best for you. Good luck!

  10. I am envious of the snow y'all are getting. I live in the desert, and we have had very nice weather. Temps ranging anywhere from low 30's to high 60's for our highs and lo's. Oh how I wish we would get at least some much colder weather or snow. Nothing too crazy however.
