  1. I had mine 3/29. How are you doing? I'm feeling pretty good. I am so sick of the shakes they turn my stomach and taste so sweet. Started purée today. Maybe just a couple spoonfuls and that was it.

I'm so sick of shakes! I went for my follow up on Wednesday, it went well. I was put on pureed foods then. What are you eating for pureed food? All of a sudden I feel like I don't know what to eat, lol. I'm feeling pretty well though, I think I'll go back to work mid week or beginning of next week. Honestly, I have enjoyed being off and foxusing on myself, I'm a mental health social worker so the break was good bc it never stops at work. What about you, do you work and if so, when do you return to work?

  2. Hello, I'm new here and just looking to make some friends who are on a similar timeline. My surgery is scheduled for 3/28/17. I'm starting to get nervous []
About me: I live in the greater Cincinnati area on a 200 acre farm with my husband and our 5 dogs, 7 cats, 2 horses, and many cows and chickens. I am 34 years old and suffer from generalized anxiety and depression, and some social anxiety. I am an introverted person, so making friends online is easier. I love riding my horses, being outside, music, watching sports, and reading. After surgery I hope to get back into running, weight lifting, and hiking. I am an open-minded and sensitive person.
My biggest fear currently is that I will have the surgery and still manage to fail by regaining weight or not losing. I've struggled with my weight on and off since my teens.
Looking forward to sharing the journey!

    Hi SarakNKY,

My surgery is scheduled for the 30th, I started my preoperative diet a few days ago, the first 2 days were difficult, but seems to be getting a little better! How's your preoperative diet going?
I'm actually from Ohio, but currently live in Texas.
I know this is is a difficult journey ahead of us, but we have to stay positive and not allow our past failures to determine or prevent our future successes! I look forward to sharing the journey ahead as well!

  3. Krenea...sorry for the late reply. No I wasn't nervous. I was excited to get a new lease on life and to start feeling better. I'm down 50 pounds now and I feel so much better than I did. I have no regrets. I have my six week post op check up this week. Little nervous about my diet being advanced but I'll do fine I think. I was off work for 4 weeks. First two weeks were kinda rough and my energy level was low. Taking care of patients is physically demanding so I wanted to be feeling as good as I could when I went back. First week was tough but it's much easier now. [emoji846]

    Mickie0130,
I understand it gets busy, no need for an apology. Thank you for sharing with me. I start my pre op diet on Thursday which I have to be on for 2 weeks, then it's surgery day! I work in a clinical setting, I do mental health as a social worker so not as physically demanding for me. I'm thinking I'll be out of work for 2-3 weeks. Congratulations on your 50lb weight loss, that's amazing!

  4. Krenea...yes I had RNY by pass. I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow. Best decision I've ever made. My first nursing job was as a post op surgical nurse and I used to take care of patients who had the procedure. It's come a long ways since then. Laparoscopic is one of the advances. Back then everything was done open. If I could give one piece of advice...follow the drs orders to the letter. There's a reason for the instructions. Don't advance your diet until you're supposed to. I took care of patients who were admitted back due to complications and 8 out of 10 were because they didn't follow the instructions they were given. And don't give in to head hunger. It will pass...I promise.

Mickie0130... Thank you so much for that advice! 5 weeks, congratulations. Where you nervous? How did you overcome the nerves? How long were you out from your job?

  5. My journey started in December 2016. At my last apt Dr she said that they will be getting paperwork ready to be sent out next week ! They also are planning on an April surgery if things go to plan with Excellus BlueCross !! I was planning for June July but I guess sooner the better . I'm Happy , scared, excited and ready . I know I will have crazy anxiety weeks prior to surgery but I need this tool .

    Hw 358
    Cw 325
    Gw 200/225
    Dr goal is 230/240

Best of luck with everything! I'm feeling all of those emotions as well, but like you I need the tool also! Wishing you phenomenal health as you continue this journey!
