Becoming Concerned
agirlhasnofluff replied to itsallido's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My friend gave me sage advice. Put away the damn scale. He said bring it out once a month. I do not see any difference in my body. I don't feel different. I out on a paid of size 18 jeans yesterday and within an hour they were falling off. By the end of the day, they were so baggy and loose I felt ridiculous. I put on a pair of 16s this morning. They feel like the 18s did, pre-surgery. So, something must be working for me. I'm day 25 today. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
I'm in East Dallas, and I definitely wouldn't mind finding support groups East of 75! My surgeon does meetings in Denton, but I just can't stomach driving an hour there in traffic and an hour back, especially since I already drive an hour to work and an hour and a half hone! Surgery Length & Unable To Do Laproscopic?
agirlhasnofluff replied to LaLa Weez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'4, and I am very short waisted (my ribs and my hips almost touch. The size of my baby belly defied belief, because she had nowhere to go but out). My doc had zero problems with my surgery being done lap. I was under for two hours and five minutes for a duodenal switch, gallbladder removal, and liver biopsy. Plus an unexpected excision of some lymph nodes. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
Isopure Dutch chocolate is bearable. I actually don't have problems drinking that one whereas the rest are absolutely awful to me! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App

Pre/Post Surgical Plans Are Not Required
agirlhasnofluff replied to 4MRB4PHOTO's topic in Rants & Raves
Can I just say that the tough love/"you're a farking idiot for eating that!!!" posts are actually extremely helpful. I am just shy of 3 weeks post-op, and I went to a renaissance festival this past weekend. It was pretty much a torture fest, which had nothing to do with it being barbarian weekend. The pretzels covered in parmesan cheese and garlic were calling to me. The pickles in a barrel were begging for my attention. The turkey legs were trying to jump into my fists. And I did think "why not? What about these other bozos eating Swedish fish, pork chops, grilled cheese sandwiches, and tortilla chips. They ate them and were 'just fine'". But then the tough love posts went through my mind, and I thought of y'all laying out the potentially dire consequences. Plus the effects it could have on my long term success. I decided being 3.5 hours from home and my surgeon with a 13 year old in tow was not a good time to experiment with bread or seeds or smores on a stick or hunks of hastily inhaled Turkey leg. Instead, I ate some tuna fish I'd brought with me and some applesauce. I'm not sure I would have made those same choices if all I'd seen was people telling the posters that it was okay and better luck tomorrow when they made majorly bad choices. So, thanks for the tough love. Y'all helped at least one person not make dumb choices! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
How long will this process take?

Gaining weight before surgery
agirlhasnofluff replied to tigraq08's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I gained almost 10 lbs between visits 1 and 6. I was approved in just a couple of days. Surgery was nearly 3 weeks ago. If you don't trust your doctor, maybe you need to go with a different one. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
Today, I am wondering what I have done to myself
agirlhasnofluff replied to agirlhasnofluff's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Just an update: Things are significantly better. That day must have been my lowest day after surgery. I feel one thousand times better, and I'm pretty much pain free. I was rolling over in my bed last night, and I was thinking how nice it was to roll over and not have anything hurt. Thanks again for the support, y'all! It really was just those first two weeks after surgery that were so rough! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
Highmark BCBS out-of-pocket costs
agirlhasnofluff replied to cls5186's topic in Insurance & Financing
The HSA can't be used retroactively, FYI. You must incur the costs in 2017 in order to use 2017 funds. My plan has a carryover of $500, so in theory, I could use $500 of 2016 money in 2017, but not vice versa. The max contribution for someone with just themself on the insurance plan is 2,550. It's what I contributed in 2016, and it was all used up by June, sadly. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
Lovaquan shots
agirlhasnofluff replied to sunnydeeliteful's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did not have to do this. I got injections in the hospital, and none there after. I did get a lovely giant purple bruise at the site where they injected me multiple times though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone drive themselves home after surgery?

I know we all have different diet plans, but mine calls for no added sugar. I think when I checked Amy's, it had sugar added. Does the one you're eating had added sugar? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App

Soft food and protein
agirlhasnofluff replied to markiealex's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw my doc for my two week post op. He told me forget food. Concentrate on three Protein shakes a day. Food is just a bonus, but shakes before real food. Sad, but I get why Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
Do you miss food?
agirlhasnofluff replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 2 weeks out, on soft foods, and yes, I miss "other food". I drove by Cici's pizza today and had a wistful moment thinking about going in there and ordering a veggie pizza and then dipping each slice in a bowl of ranch dressing. I don't miss the eating so much I feel terrible about myself and want to vomit. I also don't miss the not knowing what I'm going to eat and eating taco bell instead. My diet is very restricted, but I have been making sure food is prepped so that I can open the fridge and have something ready to grab when I'm hungry. I definitely appreciate that part. Oh and how my pants aren't digging into my flesh and making my waist sore and itchy! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -
Yes, pickle juice ????. I mixed it in Greek yogurt, too, but it wasn't as good. (I have a slight pickle obsession. There are 7 different jars of them in my fridge. None of which I can eat right now!) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App

What does the timeframe look like from initial visit to surgery?
agirlhasnofluff replied to jessgnc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
March 17 was my initial appointment. September 26 was my final diet. Surgery was approved October 5. Surgery was scheduled October 10. Surgery happened October 24. So, 7 months and 1 week. The time flew by as I spent a lot of it educating myself about the surgery and post op life. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -

agirlhasnofluff replied to agirlhasnofluff's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Why this made me tear up, I don't know, but it did. I appreciate the support. I've been considering finding a therapist that treats food addiction, because Lord knows I have one. Maybe I need to do more than just consider it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App -

I'm one week post op today. Last night, I went to take a drink of Water, but I exhaled in the glass before I sipped. I was like, "what is wrong with my water? Why does it smell so bad?" I sniffed it again, but then I realized it was my breath. Holy hell. I was shocked. Glad to know there's relief for it on the horizon! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App
