Thinking of you Mindi! It was the best decision that I have ever made. 6 week follow up today and I am down 32 pounds and cleared for all exercises. It is worth it!!!

Is slept a lot as well. My doc and nutritionist said to get the Water in and once I was done with that to try Protein. All Water first and rest is important. I set a time for 2 minutes so that I would take a sip of water. It took a little time but it got better.Hi everyone,
Just wondering...is it common to be extra, extra sleepy all the time after getting the vsg? The last pain medication I took was around 4am. I'm to take it every four hours as needed, so it usually wears off by the 4 hour mark. I have slept all day long and am still tired. I could lie down right now and fall asleep easily. I'm not light-headed or anything unusual, but the constant sleeping is making is difficult to get all my fluids and Protein in. I try to stay awake and keep myself focused, but I drift off while reading, watching tv, knitting, browsing the internet, etc. When I'm awake, I try to walk as much as possible, but the second I'm done, I'm ready for another nap.
I'm not ready to drive just yet and there are limited places in my house where I can get comfortable, so I feel a bit tied to my bedroom.
I've never had any kind of surgery or anything done, so I thought maybe my body is still just in "wtf did you do to me" mode, but I'm not sure. My post-op appointment is on Wednesday and I'll bring it up then if there is no immediate cause for concern.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thank you all!

My nutritionist says to get at least 50 grams of carbs a day for proper brain function. That is in addition to the 60-90 grams of Protein and 64+ oz of Water. I had surgery one month ago and am down 27 pounds total, 19 since surgery.

Welcome and congrats to everyone! Today is my one month surgery anniversary and It was well worth it.
My family worried too. I think that this is natural because they love you so much. The more they learned and the closer I got to surgery, the more confident they felt. It is a rollercoaster.
I started solid food yesterday. So far things are going okay but I am finding that my taste buds really did change. I am learning to eat all over again and now that there is solid food and wait times for drinking, it isn't easy to get all of my Water in. I am doing it, but barely.
So glad to be doing this with you all!

Happy thanksgiving everyone! Hope turkey day was good to you!
Nana- i personally slept on my side the night after surgery so all was well with me!
I was able to sleep in my bed no problem. I found that so we so tired after spending a night in the hospital that I passed out quickly. I have been comfortable and I even found sleeping on my side okay.

Luckgrl, I am in Des Moines. I had Cahalan. I too use MyFitnessPal to keep track of my Water and food. I also bought a Fitbit. The Fitbit and MyFitnessPal talk to each other which is nice.

I set a timer to remind me to take a sip of Water every two minutes. I also got up to walk often. Do what you can and don't be afraid to ask for anti nausea meds when you need them. I will be cheering for you!

Everything is great! I haven't had any issues at all. Right now I am really craving real food instead of liquids. Other than that things are good

I have fibro as well and I chose sleeve. I had surgery on the 2nd and I have had a week with only mild aches and pains. Life is so much more manageable right now. Fingers crossed that this continues! Good luck and keep us updated on your journey!

I had surgery on the 2nd. My advice is to drink small sips of Water every two minutes (set s timer on your phone) and get up and walk as much as you can. The shower made the biggest difference in how I felt. Trust your team and keep us updated! Best thing I have ever done for myself.

I return to work part time on Thursday. I am nervous because I don't feel very well today so far. I have to also stick to the part time day no matter what. I think I need the time but it goes against every set of who I am to not over work. Odd emotions and feelings today

I have Ben s vegetarian for years. I have even considered going vegan now that I have had my sleeve surgery. Remember that you can get Protein in other ways. Contact your nutritionist and get some ideas.

I had sleeve on the 2nd. I have this and feeling. If I take my anti spasm mess or acid mess it goes away. I think the the antacid is the way to go. For me that feeling is a sign that it is time for my meds.

Had my sleeve surgery on the 2nd. Now I am home, drinking my Water, following the breathing instructions and walking. Things went much better than I feared. The staff was fantastic and I am so grateful for the support from all of you.
