Can I lie - hernia op?

I was thinking about saying that I needed to have a portion of my bowel removed. My coworkers won't ask, but if I have a "mystery surgery", then loose 80 pounds in 6 months, they will know. The bowel issues could explain the weight loss to follow. I have a BMI of 37 and want my surgery to be private. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

    80 pounds or so

Great question. I also need to lose 20 and wonder about this. I know I will need a breast lift and I am hoping that is it. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App That should read 80 :-) Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

    Insight on hair loss?

I crazy nervous about this. My hair is so thin. Part genetics and part thyroid issues. When I make a pony tail it is hardly any thicker than a finger. If I lose even 1/4 of my hair I will need to wear a wig :-( Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

    I'm a hater.... lol

I am in Ontario. I am surprised at how quickly the time is going and yes, it's true...the extra time is probably a good thing. I just was hoping for March. This also would line up with 1 year which is what I originally had mind wrapped around. More waiting.... Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App
  6. I am wondering what are people's weightloss experience who started with a lower BMI? Say 35 to 40 BMI. How quickly was your weight loss? Thank you :-) Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

    I'm a hater.... lol

Ugh. So I am in Canada so while it's free I have to wait and wait and wait. I was first referred in March. I did not get my first apt until June. I jumped through all the hoops from July through to December (last paperwork goes in today. I will likely meet with the surgeon in March and likely will not have surgery until June! So 15 months in total. And that is an estimate. It could be longer. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App
  8. 100 pounds in 9 months is about 11 pounds a month. You have lost 17 pounds in 3 weeks or like 35 pounds in not much more than a month! Try and be patient. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App
  9. Wow, this is so interesting. Where can I read more about this? Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

  12. For those with low impact desk type jobs, how long were you off for surgery? What is the minimum time you could have returned to work? When were you able to do moderate activities like house cleaning? TIA :-) Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App
  13. I would do it anyways. Do you still want to salvage your marriage. If so, I would ask him for more time. If you have not been happy because of your weight and that is a big part of cause for divorce, it might be worth you both holding on a little longer. Yes, life is so hard. Hugs. 14. Good question. I am 5' 3". HW 230, CW 220. I am 4 months out from surgery. I have told my team my goal is 170 as that is the highest weight I still felt normal at. So I could live here and be happy. But my real personal goal is 137, my wedding weight. My stretch would be 127, my lowest adult weight. 127 puts me at the most ideal BMI (not that I put much value in the BMI thing, it's only a guide). Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

    Hair loss prevention

Biotin is what my NUT suggested. But I read on here that it has made some women grow beards and spend a fortune on Lazer hair removal...... Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

  17. As we know, extreme calorie reduction diets result is slow metabolism. Has anyone considered actually trying to get more calories in during the weightloss phase to slow things down? Help let the body adjust a bit slower and avoiding extreme calorie reduction side effects such as hair loss and loose skin? Any pros and cons? Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

    Stress ????

I think you need a long term plan. Neither you now, nor next month should be living there. Your son, even more so. It's illegal in Canada and we can have our children taken from our care for having them in an environment with cigarette smoke :-( Smoking is difficult to quit yes, but she doesn't have to. She only has to go outside. This is not right. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

Thank you for the article. It IS a thing, wow. I am still pre-op about 4 months out so I am still learning all about it. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol

OK, I keep hearing this. References to there being a window of opportunity for weight loss following surgery. Is there actually science to back this up? Or is this almost a perception as the most pounds always go first and then the struggle for the last X pounds begins. That is with or without surgery, no? Thanks! QUESTIONS TO MY SURGEON

I want to know if my surgeon will use stiches or staples. I hate the additional scarring of staples so will insist on stitches. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App
  23. I have been seeing a few posts about rny causing more saggy skin. I can understand that if weight loss is fast vs. slow that there will be more saggy skin, however does it not catch up? I mean is a Sleever goes from 300 to 150 in 2 years, and an RNYer goes from 300 to 150 in 1.5 years they may have more loose skin. But at both 2 years out and maintaining 150 pounds won't they look the same? Thanks everyone :-) Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App
  24. This is great. Thank you :-) I have 85 to 90 pounds to lose. I have lost 12 so far. So close to 100 pounds loss in total would be ideal for me. I know I will want a breast lift without a doubt. Hoping everything else will be "ok" with me. The loss is more important than the skin without a doubt. Thanks for the feedback :-) Sent from my SM-G900W8 using the BariatricPal App
  25. I am actually hoping for slow weight loss. I know that sharing of this surgery would be received negatively by family and friends, therefore I am keeping it to myself. I am hoping that if I am able to loose the weight slowly, it will be both healthy and raise less eyebrows. I just don't want the negativity in my life from nay sayers.
