  1. I know that itchy/get out of the house feeling but just be careful not to over due it. You can exhaust yourself very quickly. Make sure you have your liquids with you, if you go. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Craving pickles?

I wanted them too!! I can't remember how far out from surgery I was...probably about the same? I would take a slice of ham, cut it into a strip, put a little low fat cream cheese on it, then take a pickle spear (cut the skin off) and roll it up in the ham. I felt like I was pregnant again but it was so good...lol Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Maybe think too much but

My nutritionist answered this same question for me...she said that first of all, your body would react and would feel overly hungry and then you would binge. Also, as you loose weight your body constantly fights against you to go back to your heavy weight. It would be extremely difficult to just "not eat a lot" and expect it to last long term. People portion control all the time and it works for some but I know with my body, it wasn't going to work. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

How to add photos to post on app

Thanks. For some reason I don't have that plus symbol but I figured it out. I just held down my finger in the text field and then a paperclip appeared at the bottom and I was able to attach pics. Thanks!!! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  6. I don't see anywhere on the app where I can add photos to share in my posts. Is there a way to add them in the app, or do I have to login on my desktop? Thanks!! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    4 days Post OP

I thought the way I was eating/drinking/sipping in the beginning was how it was going to be for life. It was rough and slow and felt wrong to me. I did have terrible nausea and all that went with it but one day, at around the 2 month mark, it was over. It was like a light switch and then I was totally fine. I could eat without getting sick, I could drink Water almost like before surgery. Now, at 3 months, I feel normal and amazing and have a ton of energy. I had to encourage myself every morning that that day was a new day and I would just listen to my body and get through. It gets sooooo much better!!! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Food Aversions

I had a meltdown early on about the exact same thing! Sleeved 9/27. I compared my gag reflex and nausea to being pregnant again. I had a heightened sense of smell that just people's natural body odor made me sick. Animal Proteins (all meat) made me sick, just thinking about it. I went to my NUT several times about this. She said it will all pass and to just eat what will stay down. I thought it would never end. All of a sudden, like a switch it is OVER! I can eat a little more of a portion and eat most foods. It really does stink but it really does pass. Please message me if you need a buddy to get you through. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    So upset... 2wks out

I started at 260 also. Sleeved 9/27. Lost 8lbs the first week, then ended up having pneumonia and back in the hospital...gained back the weight I lost plus a couple. Slow loosing following my hospital visit but my body caught up with itself and now, fast forward 11 weeks...down 50lbs! You will have moments of loosing a bunch, then a slow down, sometimes even a stall. Just be patient and know your sleeve is working. You will get there. 11. Nobody knows your struggles and how you feel but YOU. The number on the scale is just a number. If you feel the need to improve your health and your lifestyle in a serious way, then it is your choice. People don't understand and feel they know what's best for your body based on what they know of their body... each of us has a history, a story and a deep desire to do what's good. Having the surgery is NOT easy. It is NOT a quick and easy fix (which is what many people think). You will spend money, time and patience for this journey but in the end, it will work and you will succeed....and for me, it is all worth it. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Concerned

I was sleeved on 9/27 at 260 and am now down 50 lbs! I have had some nausea/vomiting issues and a bit of reflux. I was able to manage all of things with medication and patience. I am eating just fine now and feeling great!! I have an older cousin that was sleeved 10 years ago and is doing amazing. She looks great and is super healthy! My friend was sleeved a year ago and has lost 115 lbs and looks so good and is loving life. Neither had any extra recovery issues. I think both surgeries have both success and nonsuccessful stories. It's how you follow the plan but mostly patience and attitude! Definitely research. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Supportive... but not

For me, everything tastes different after surgery and I am surprised how diligent I am with selecting food, unlike before. I wouldn't freak out about the minor details right now, just learn as much as you can. The biggest part to your journey right now is understanding why you are doing this...for you or for them? If you are truly confident and passionate about this decision, they shouldn't be able to upset you so much. Do this for you and your health. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Insominia?

I was sleeved on September 27th and had the same issues for a short while. I kept thinking something was terribly wrong and that I made a mistake. The insomnia was bad but I found that melatonin helped a bunch! I didn't have to take it very long. Once I wasn't sore anymore and was able to sleep flat, I didn't have the insomnia issue anymore. It will pass. Every new issue or struggle I go through, I think is awful but I am reassured by friends and doctors that it gets better...and you know what, It does. Just take it one thing at a time and be patient...it will pass. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Such a ride.

I love that you made such a huge and healthy decision at 22! You have so much courage and strength. I am only 4 weeks post op so I only know of some of the struggle. Your mind and body has been taught to use food in a way to cope with whatever life has for you. You now have an amazing tool to fight back and regain control over your life. You can do it and you will. Seek some therapy and learn to love who you are and the path you have chosen. ...22...wow...you have many, many memories to make in your future as the person you you have always wanted to become. Pain in left shoulder?

Please don't panic as everyone is different and my reply is only for awareness..... I had severe pain in my left shoulder and left side. Thought for sure it was gas. Same story...tried everything...didn't help. Pain meds masked it but when they wore off...yikes! I started to have shortness of breath and having difficulty taking a deep breath. I quickly developed a fever and called my surgeon. Went to the hospital and they ended up finding some Fluid in my left lung and pneumonia. I had a nice weeks stay at the hospital. Once on antibiotics for several days, the pain eased. Not sure if it was 100% pneumonia that was causing the pain etc or if I did in fact have some gas issues. My point to this is pay attention to your body and watch for fever and breathing issues. I pray it's gas in your case and you start to feel better soon!!! Weird noises

The gurgling and noises were so obnoxiously loud and annoying! That was all I could talk about and think about for days!! I honestly forgot about that part of my recovery until I read this post! It must have just stopped and I didn't even notice. I'm sure, as with everything, it is different for everyone. It will get better. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    GEHA or fed bcbs?

I have GEHA and went through the 6 months. I was totally irritated in the beginning...just when you make the decision, they tell you, nope...you have to wait 6 months. The surgeons office I used, took care of everything. They had a nutritionist in house, that I saw every month that counted towards my monthly visits. After my last visit if was all submitted to GEHA and they approved me in 2 weeks. I wasn't very patient but now I am glad I had the time to learn and ask questions. The visits have to be consecutive or they won't count. As long as it's supervised and they follow the required protocol, it should be fine. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Rummbling stomach all day

I was sleeved on 9/27 and had all the same concerns. I had lost almost 10 lbs the first week but ended up in the hospital with a bout of pneumonia and gained it all back. It can be discouraging but you have to be patient and think of the end result. It will come off...surgery does funny things to our bodies and it just takes time. I am 4 weeks out and now down 30 lbs. This too shall pass. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

  21. I have been a lurker for quite awhile too...first time poster tonight also!! I am 1 month post op... I remember those feelings prior to surgery. Good luck with your journey!! It's exciting!! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Melrey... try sipping on the Isopure Protein drinks... for me, I have found that I can keep them down and at least get some protein in. They are a clear liquid so they aren't too thick and heavy...fruity flavors. I will let you know what my NUT says this week. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  23. Same here. I want a miracle answer right now to get through this. BUT I know that in a year's time, this memory will be so insignificant because I will feel better, be healthier and look amazing!! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  24. Are you having any Protein drinks or shakes? Do you just keep going back to liquids? What protein are you keeping down? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  25. I totally sympathize with that! I would probably get sick smelling that. It is so weird because my head says certain things will be good (not bad things...chicken, Protein drinks etc) but if I smell them...eh...game over. It does feel like pregnancy again but on a very different level. Lol Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
