  1. I had DS surgery on the 14th and I know how you feel. I never thought this would be a quick fix either, but having so much downtime has me watching TV, reading Facebook and Pinterest and I never knew how much they all involve "food". I actually deleted my Pinterest app a couple days ago. I simply cannot see all these wonderful things I want to be cooking AND eating. I am craving chicken and beef so bad. I feel larger and more bloated than when I had surgery (I haven't been on the scale yet). I know that "this shall too pass", but it has me cranky and emotional and I am taking it out on those who love me Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery Dec 14th.

I had DS surgery on the 14th. I had to go home with a drain. I still can't lay on either side and have been sleeping sitting up. The pain is bearable and I have stopped all pain meds. It is definitely tight and soar if I don't walk every hour or so. I've been doing well with Fluid and Protein intake so far but would love to be able to curl up and sleep in bed. surgery eve

My sleep mask was essential and a metal-free hair tie to pull my hair back so it didn't constantly get pulled were all I really needed that the hospital didn't supply. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tomorrow is the day!

The first 48 hours are the worst! Just make yourself walk walk walk. I also brought a sleeping mask to the hospital that was essential since nurses were constantly walking in and turning every light on all hours of the day/night. I just kept my mask on and ignored them whenever I could lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. My surgery is in less than 24 hours! I'm having DS at Baylor in Trophy Club. I'm having such anxiety right now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery Approved - Now what?

Thank you for replying. I will be off work, no kids. I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago and remember I couldn't even put on my own socks and needed help to set up for a couple days. Any comfort things that you are glad you purchased and had on hand? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I posted this in the DS section but it was suggested I post here too since it is a bit busier... My insurance company just called and approved my DS surgery. I should have it before the end of December!! So I have a few questions - *How much help and for how many days should I expect to need from others (if any)? My mom offered to come and help me, but if I won't "need" it, I might would rather be peacefully alone lol. *What are some "must haves" that I should purchase to have on hand before surgery? *What are things you wished you would have done differently before surgery or while recovering? *Any other help or advice? I'm sooooo excited to start the next step of my journey to being healthy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anthem BCBS Insurance Approval / Denial Question

I have bcbs anthem and am currently awaiting approval. I'm so stressed the surgery happens before the end of year because I have been saving my PTO and I can't roll it over. Not to mention I've already paid this years deductible. I actually had to gain a little weight during the 6 month diet visits to get to their minimum 40bmi to qualify. This waiting thing is so stressful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
