  1. I would ask your doctor why that weight, since technically, you would still be considered obese!! I started very near your weight and I know what I looked like at 180 pounds!! Could you have misunderstood what she said? The final decision is yours and do what makes you comfortable and healthy!!
  2. I'm 5'3" and I've set my goal as 135 lbs which is where I look my best. The doctor thought 145 would be good but didn't discourage me. At 33 years old I had never been obese yet (I started gaining weight at 50) and always weighed between 125 and 130, even after having my son. Maybe she wants to select a weight a little higher so that you don't get discouraged? What kind of surgery did you have?
  3. Not sure where to get all these oils but I'm going to try!!

    Smoking

Might give you the munchies!! lol Otherwise, no!!
  5. Hold the enema as long as possible even though it may feel painful. There will be a better benefit that way!!
  6. Ice Cream!! Became lactose intolerant after my bypass and found out the hard way!!
  7. You haven't gone in 3 weeks??? At this point you may need an enema!! I had the same problem last week and just (very painfully) put some vaseline as far up as I could!! I also drank 10 cups of Water a day and took stool softeners 2 nights in a row. You could try all that cause it is dangerous not to go!! Sorry if this was too much info!!

    The incredible Mr Limp-with-it

@@DubI respect your wisdom but I have to question you on this one Dub. School me please. The dirt rubbing was a joke. Pickle juice is serious medicine for sore muscles, though. Not the sugary stuff....but standard no-carb pickle juice. Drink a cup of it down......slam it down as best you can. It was a strange the first couple times I tried it.....but now it's a go-to move if I'm having prolonged soreness. I don't know why it works.....or if it does for everyone.....I only know that it helps me. I was skeptical at first due to the nature of the pro-tip about drinking pickle juice. It was bro-science kicked around by some hulk looking dudes in the gym. A lot of the widsoms, bro-science, that they were talking about was generally categorized as foolish.....but this little gem was genius level thinking on their part. I'm totally going to try this for my aching legs just in case it works!! What kind of pickle juice?

    STALLED FOR ONE MONTH!

To tell you the truth, I forget WHY it is important but only remember that it IS important!! I think it has something to do with emptying your pouch too fast and then you are hungry sooner and faster!!
  10. I was "normal" my whole life till I hit 50 yrs old. Then a bunch of things happened, including buying a business where I got to sleep 4 hrs a night. I ballooned to 282 lbs. My only regret about having RNY is that I didn't do it sooner!! I lost very little hair, and what I did lose is back already!! I had dumping but part of it is that a lot of bypass patients become lactose intolerant which played a large part in the dumping. I'm 2 1/2 yrs out and have lost 120 lbs, only 15 to go to MY goal weight but made my drs. months ago. I still have chocolate when I want it, just not every day and have the bite size chocolate bars. I eat normally now, just less and drink my Water. You won't regret it!! (except for the boobs!! I miss those and mine don't look like boobs anymore but just need some money to fix that!!)

    Will it ever happen?

I waited 4 YEARS!! Paid for by our provincial health care, there is a long waiting list!! The day I went in for surgery, they came to get me ahead of time cause the poor guy ahead of me got on the table and it was decided he was not ready for surgery, something to do with his preop diet!! I didn't know if it was going to happen until I woke up in recovery!! It'll happen when it should happen! Good luck!!

    STALLED FOR ONE MONTH!

I bought Mio and put it in my Water. Way easier to drink and since surgery, I am lactose intolerant. Crystal Light is okay too and Nestle makes a similar one to Mio.

    STALLED FOR ONE MONTH!

Everybody is different!! I lose nothing at times, then it just falls off me!! Drink your Water but not while eating!

    STALLED FOR ONE MONTH!

I'm further out than you but about 3 months!

    STALLED FOR ONE MONTH!

Yes, I had just gained 8 pounds and had been in a stall for awhile!! I started drink about 10 cups of Water a day and have lost 2 of them already in 2 days! Be patient!

    Seriously?

I only discovered these forums a month ago. For the most part, I even enjoy the "little" squabbles, flirtations but especially the camaraderie. I thought FINALLY a place where gender, race, politics, sexual preference or politics didn't matter!! We are all the same!! Obese people who are doing everything and anything to become normal or to live longer. When I'm irked by a post, I may wince, but I just keep scrolling. No harm, no foul!! With the divisiveness that happens all over the world, and getting closer and closer to us all, this should be a safe place even if it is "Rants & Raves"! I had no counselling before or after surgery and I've learned so much here from vets and newbies!! I didn't know I wasn't supposed to drink while eating!! My surgeon is 4 hours away, which is why I don't get to see him or ask questions!! I took some advice I got on here and it has worked for me!! I cut my coffee in half and my legs aren't quite as achy! I started drinking all my water and lost 2 pounds of the 8 I had regained!! I'm also getting more energy!! I guess this is my rant!! But, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

My PCP "doesn't care about me"

Maybe he was going to say "I don't care how you do it but you are going to die if you don't do something!!"

    Slow Weight Loss

I lost very slowly too, I blamed it on my yoyo dieting for years before!! But then it just seemed to fall off me. 2 1/2 years out I have lost 120 but I'm having a hard time with the last 25!! I just went back to basics! Plus I don't exercise, my bad!!

    Breakdown

Soup saved me when I had surgery while I was on liquids. I sipped at it constantly. Did you have RNY? I was hungry too even though I was told I wouldn't feel hungry. It's probably not hunger that has you feeling weak, but rather the anesthesia that you had. I was wiped out for months after my surgery. When people would tell you that the hunger was my brain talking, not my stomach, I wanted to punch them but they were right!! It's like an addict on Opioids, it's not a physical craving it's the brain playing tricks on you.

    Breakdown

When did you have your surgery? What type?
  21. My grand-daughter can put her arms around me, someone asked my son if I was his girlfriend, I have a really bad back but I sit with my legs crossed anyway!! I sometimes sit with one leg under me, I don't think everyone is staring at me when I eat! I can cut my toenails and paint them!! People don't recognize me until I speak!
  22. I had RNY 2 1/2 years ago but recently regained 8 pounds. I hadn't lost in awhile before that. My own fault!! No excuses! I am back on track now but I am having a problem with Water. They removed a large Hiatal Hernia when I had my surgery and it's all good now except when I drink water which hurts and gives me heartburn. Even coffee doesn't do this to me. Anyone else have this problem? And what is the problem??? It's very painful and I am downing Gavescon to deal with it!!
  23. lol Definitely not pregnant! I don't see my bariatric surgeon but I'll ask my regular doctor! Meanwhile, Gavescon helps a lot! Just crappy that I lost so much weight, had my Hernia fixed and Water does this!!
  24. Yes, any water!! I'm still on whatever they gave me for my stomach after surgery. Neither of those two though. I'm in Canada.
  25. Water has always been the worst but I didn't realize it because I was so overweight! Hopefully someone has a trick or help for it! I have to get that water into me!
