    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Ms. Boss, You're way ahead of me. I've only lost around 32-34 lbs since I've been banded. My friend that went on a diet a week after I had surgery has lost 39 so I'm incredibly frustrated. I exercise 5 or 6 times a week for 30 minutes to an hour and track everything I put in my mouth. I just have to accept that it will happen eventually. I wonder if it's harder for short people to lose. My friend is 5'8 and I'm only 5'0.

No Wii here either, but my parents are buying my son one for his birthday in August. My birthday is in September so I will probably by the Fit for my birthday present. I just have to be patient!

Fenton and Chica, those are really, really great numbers. Today my BMI dropped below 40! 4 more lbs and I'll be under 200 for the first time in about 6 years. I can't believe it! I'm still struggling with eating right but I've exercised a lot this week. In fact, I think I was so sweaty yesterday that I shorted my ear buds out! I got online today and ordered a sport version! For most people, that much sweat would mean a butt-kicking workout, but in southeast Texas you can get that standing still.

I have 2 ccs in my 4 cc band. I think I had some restriction but it's gone now. My dr. lets you go in every 2 weeks, but he's out of town until the 18th.

I feel myself sliding a bit. Having shorter workouts and eating things that aren't 100% trackable. My weight is definitely not going down and might be going up. I'm not scheduled for a fill until June 18th, but school is out and little league baseball is over so my evenings will be free and hopefully I'll get back on track with exercising. I'm hungry!

Amanda, I have 2 ccs in my 4 cc band. Sometimes I feel a tiny bit of restriction but it's gone in a matter of seconds if I slow my eating. I just ate spaghetti and I've always heard that wouldn't go down at all. I think we just have to keep patient until we get to that spot. I really do worry that I'll get my band all the way filled and still not get restriction though!

It's Saturday night. Been to the casino. Comfortably wore a pair of size 16 jeans! Just so you know, Malibu rum goes down just fine, but chili cheese fries, not so much.

    Help, Im struggling here

I bounced around the same 3 or 4 lbs for about a month. I lost continuously the 3-4 weeks but didn't lose much of anything during most of the second month. I weigh every day even though it drives me crazy and I'm starting to notice about .3 - .5 gone almost every day for the last week. I really hope to keep this going! Hang in there, you'll start losing again. You really need to track your calories if your not. I'm using thedailyplate.com and it really helps me keep on track better than before. Good

So, are people beginning to "notice"?

People are really starting to notice for me too. I get a lot of "wow, that shirt looks really great on you" comments. It does feel great! And today is my 2 month anniversary!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Cathy, I am so sorry to hear about your tragedy! Take care of yourself and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Breads are the only thing that give me any restriction. I can eat all the meat, vegetables, etc. that I want. I've started making sure I have a piece of whole wheat bread with my meals so that my band will tell me to stop. Apparently I have a very smart scale. This morning I woke up quite pissy with diet and exercise and not losing. I got on the scale and it said I was down another 25 pounds - 48 from my starting weight. yeah, that was was 25 lbs over night. I checked 3 times and it stayed at 189 each time. I picked the scale up, shook it around and got back on and it was back to 212. Anyway, it was seriously nice to see 189 on my scale so that was a great start to the morning even if it was way wrong!

I keep losing the same three or four pounds too. At my lowest I'm at 25 lbs down. I've had 3 fills and I'm at 2cc in a 4 cc band. I notice a little bit of restriction when eating bread but nothings gotten stuck. I just take it slow. Anyway, I'm extremely frustrated. I haven't had a diet coke or Mexican food in 2 months and I exercise at least 30 minutes (usually an hour) every day! I'm so ready to get past this point and I just don't know what I'm doing wrong! I'm always so scared that this just isn't going to work for me.
  17. I have IBS and since I got the band my symptoms have been so much better. I did go through a period during the liquid stage that I went all the time. I realized that along with the IBS I am also lactose intolerant. Since I've been limiting my lactose things have been so much better. I am having "normal" bms for the first time in years
  18. Before the band I would feel full from my belly button to my chest, really, I could eat so much my whole body felt full. Now it is more in my chest area and I don't feel it anywhere else.

I've had 2 fills and I'm having my 3rd tomorrow. So far I have 1.8 in a 4cc band. Since my last fill I sometimes think something is going to get stuck but that feeling goes away within a few seconds. I did have a pb two weeks ago with a piece of toast. Yuck!!!

    ugh!! Quitting Smoking!!!

The Chantix did make me quite weepy about 2 weeks into it so my Dr. also put me on Lexapro. After that, I was a very, very happy non-smoker! People at work would sit and roll their eyes when I would come in singing on Monday mornings! Anyway, if you feel sad and miserable don't give up on the Chantix, just ask for an anti-depressant. I can't say enough about how great Chantix is. I seriously tried every other way out there to quit and nothing worked for me. The hardest part for me was that deep down I didn't really want to quit. I definitely had to go through a mourning period where I really, really missed my old friend, cigarettes.

    More Hiatal Hernia

The doctor found and reapaired my hiatal hernia during surgery. I went home the same day and was able to return to work as scheduled.

Unfortunately I think it is natural to be a bit competitive though. I have a friend that is competing with me and I'm trying not to be upset about it sometimes. In fact, she's lost almost as much as I have in the same amount of time. I had this surgery so that I could lead a normal life and normal people eat cake! I think you did a wonderful job and unfortunately some people can't see that instead of 3 pieces of cake you had a sliver and that is a huge accomplishment! I had Mexican food today at lunch so dinner will be broccoli while my friend simply stays in her office if there is a lot of good food around.

Fenton, that really is a great NSV! Congratulations, and I also can't wait to read your book although it will be a little while. I'm in the middle of a 6 book series by Diana Gabaldon. I had a set of resistance bands about 10 years ago and they really worked. I'll have to get another set.

    ugh!! Quitting Smoking!!!

I quit smoking in November. I tried so many times and couldn't go more than 2 days. I went to my primary doc who put me on a prescription called Chantix. It was expensive and gave me some crazy dreams but it made it so easy for me to quit. I recommend Chantix to anyone wanting to quit. As for Diet Coke I haven't had one since 2 days before my surgery and haven't looked back. I seriously drank nothing but diet coke before surgery - like 10 cans a day!!!! I never thought it would be this easy. That caffeine headache was the worst part of my surgery day!!!
  25. I don't know what to tell you. That is very, very frustrating! Big hug though! I would think the Dr's office would be willing to work with you a little bit on this.
