Hello Heather...I'm from Taunton so not too far from you. I went to BIDMC though. I'm hoping to get a support group going...the weather so far is killing us. I'm hoping to get something going towards the end of this month.
  2. Hey there Trish...I did 25 minutes on my treadmill and 5 minutes on my eliptical and 5 min on my mini trampoline. Wasn't my Wii because DH was using it but, I got 'er done :tongue2: Tomorrow, Saturday, I promise myself I will do at least another 20-25 minutes on my treadmill, 5 minutes on my eliptical and 10-15 min on the Wii if it's available
  3. Hi Trish...I'll match that  Thanks for the incentive :cursing:

Hey Diane, welcome to the new thread. I figured we'd try it quarterly then we won't get lost at least 2 of the months hahaha. I'd do the exaxt same thing, thinking why isn't anyone posting and then I'd realize the new month. Another thing I do too is go to the CP User screen and change my subsciption to the thread to instant notification rather than daily as it automatically chooses that way I get quick notifications. Oh I found the website that offers the sugar free flavor drops...it's Capella coffee Co. If you google it you'll get the pages. My friend told me about it because she did the Medifast thing. Her favorite was drops of almond and coconut in her chocolate shake to make it taste like an almond joy. Oh yea......I'll be happy if that works  I'm so tired of these shakes right now and with this program I'm doing for Lindora/BIDMC(my hospital) I have to be on shakes at least 2 times a day. THAT IS when the freaking things come in. I ordered them before Christmas and I still haven't received them! Today I made Taco Soup in my crockpot and Pasta e'Fagiolo. I had to use my stick food processor to grind it to pure liquid form so it was as thick as applesauce. Both of them tasted so different when I had to do that  They were ok but, I"d rather have the chunks to chew. Oh well another week or so and I'll be able to do that. At least it was something different! Well I have to go get my son from work. We were afraid to let him drive because its been so cold and icey. Happy New Year's goils...where are ya?

ND I had revision surgery because I've been suffering with Reflux for about 1-1.5 years. I had a feeling something was wrong but, my doc would do unfills and it would go away. After gaining back some weight, I wanted to try a fill again but, with the promise from my doc that tests would be done this time if the reflux came back. The day before Thanksgiving I had a fill and BINGO that night reflux a little bit and then the full blown thing the next night and every night since. I had to sleep in an upright position for more than a week until I was finally able to see him again. I went in the next Tuesday, had an upper GI and the radiologist told my doc the band slipped. I was told to come back in on Wed for a complete unfill and we booked surgery for the 18th of dec. I went into surgery not knowing if I'd wake up with another band because it would depend on what he saw when he was in there. Turns out the slip was worse than they thought so they took out the band and fortunately they were able to put another on in, in a slightly higher position and this time around they tacked it a bit more torwards the back of my stomach to make sure it didn't move. I'm feeling great except I'm still on liquids. Man liquids are TOUGH especially the 2nd/3rd time around. I can't eat mushies until I see my doc again on 1/7. Then I praying I can get something with more bulk down that will keep me feeling full longer. Liquids do not keep you satisfied for long when there is no fill in the band, that's for sure! I can't give you a typical daily diet because of all I've gone through. I won't know what it's even like for another 4-5 weeks. I do know that I used to eat my Protein first, then fruits & veggies and carbs last if there was any room at all left. I couldn't eat bread or anything that would take a long time to digest like Pasta because it bunches back up in my stomach and doesn't want to digest so I skip those things. I'm looking forward to being able to have solid Proteins again though, that's for sure! Hope you're feeling better. The 2nd time around wasn't as sore as the first because they didn't have to replace my port. They used the same one I already had so this time I only had 4 incisions instead of 6. I'm still pretty bruised and I have some scarring but, doing ok. Some jeans are too uncomfy yet to wear still because the waistline lands on the incisions. Sweatpants are my favorites right now lol

I had issues with reflux for over a year and for me I would cough the next morning after suffering with reflux during the night. Unfortunately, the fluid that comes up and makes you cough during the night can irritate your throat and lungs so you end up coughing. If it keeps up go see your doc. Believe me when I say...don't take reflux lightly. I did the whole fill/unfill thing to take care of it but, then demanded tests with the last fill and the reflux came back and found out my band slipped bad enough that it had to be replaced. I just had revision surgery on Dec 18th. not fun to go through again. Good luck and definitely seek your doc if the reflux continues. In the meantime because you say you over indulged yesterday, stick with liquids for a day or two and see if the reflux goes away.
  7. Does anyone out there have a link to a website/store where I can purchase sugar free flavorings for coffee and shakes? I've tried a few places online but, the bottles are huge. I was hoping for something more pocket size and perhaps a sampler pack of a few flavors. Happy New year!

Happy New Year everyone! Hey...does anyone out there know where I can buy some sugar free liquid flavorings to add to my shakes. A friend of mine got small bottles that you can shake drops out of for coffee yet I'm unable to find them online anywhere. I've emailed her for the link but, haven't heard back so I thought I'd try here too. Any one use them and if so can you post the link to the website?

Happy New Year's eve everyone. I'm bunkering down here in New England and not leaving. We've had over 10 inches of snow and it's still snowing! burrrrrr We got to leave work early today because of the weather. They closed the company at 1pm so that was nice. DH drove me and my friend to work because he didn't want us driving in the snow and his truck is a 4x4 so no sliding for him. When he came to get us at 1 another girl from my job went to a flat tire on her car so DH changed it for her. He's a good doobie  Then it took us over 2 hours to get home. ZOIKS! So nice night to stay in and keep warm. Hope you all have a wonderful night!

Well I exercised yesterday but, not today go figure lol. I had a hair appointment today so got home too late plus had to write an annual self-evaluation for my annual review. Man oh man I HATE writing about myself like that. I feel like I'm always so freaking busy but, to put it on paper...ummm why is it I can't remember squat! Pat I broke out my Wii board yesterday...did the hola hoop OMG that's a workout, did the step aerobics and the ski jump hee hee did that for about 30 minutes, walked on my treadmill for 15 and the eliptical for 5 and I was wiped! I'm going to biotch again....LIQUIDS SUCK, LIQUIDS SUCK! OMG they suck! hahaha I'm hungry and getting biotchy about it. I still have another week :wink2: Ya know we were told no straws from now on......but I'm liking the sound of anything that would fit through a straw is ok to have lol. I'm trying to hold out. I ordered some new protein drinks, bars and snacks from that Lindora program I'm doing but, man it's taking a LONG time to get them! I want to behave but want something different. At least today I had egg drop soup for dinner. It was pretty good considering it wasn't a protein shake lol. We're suppose to have a nice Northeaster storm tomorrow 6-8 inches of snow. We had a dusting this morning. DH is going to drive me into work...doesn't want me driving yet because I still occassionally get light headed especially in the mornings. I hope we don't get too much snow...it's pretty but, man what a mess with traffic. We're having a quiet New Years here at home. I'll watch the Dick Clark special and go to bed lol. Although alcohol is technically liquid huh? lol. Won't be such a hit at the docs though so I'll behave again. One day at a time. Tomorrow I'll create a new thread and make it a Jan-March thread if everyone is ok with that? I figure we don't use enough pages to warrant one a month anymore. I'll post the link to it here so folks know it's ready. I'll create the exercise challenge thread too at the same time and post the link. thoughts?

ND everyone's healing time is different. First time around took me a good month before I felt 100% but, was only out of work for about a week and a half. Just needed to take it easy and not lift anything over 10 pounds. This revision surgery I just had on the 18th of Dec and I'm feeling fine now. I took the week after off to play it safe. I get a little light headed because still on liquids but, other than that doing fine. Hope you feel better soon!

Hey Betty, Unfortunately the bariatric center I go to is pretty strict on the liquid phase of things. It's nuts! I've already pushed it a bit by liquifying some soup. Basically suppose to be on really thin liquids until the mushy stage then I can blend anything and eat it and it can be the thickness of mash potatoes. Then onto the solids....yea I can say I'm looking forward to having some choices but, I have to wait for now.

Can I just say LIQUID PHASE SUCKS? Ok I can't say it's out of my system but, at least I said it lol. There isn't anything I can have thats appealing, protein shakes are wearing on me, I tried chicken star soup all blended up that was ok for about 5 sips, I blended up Kale soup...well that was good as long as you didn't look at it. It ended up looking like something the Exercist threw up ewwwwwwww. I have 11 more days of liquids. Oh lordy please help me. Ok I'm done wining lmao. I keep snapping myself out of it by saying WELL YOU COULD HAVE NOOOOO BAND and then I shut myself up but, I knew you goils would understand *wink* Hmmm might have to melt down some frozen yogurt as Pat mentioned lol. It's really hard smelling the pizza, chinese food, steak and other things the guys are eating but, I do realize it's only short lived that I can't have this stuff. Once I'm up to the full foods part I can have them in small quantities. So DH, DS and I just got done playing RockBand lol. OMG hysterical. I can't sing for BEANS and I can't even see the words scrolling across the screen. I should have had my glasses on for distance lol. Fun though :hurray: I was able to convince my son to clean up his room and remove a piece of furniture to get the game in there. The drums stay set up all the time and he needed room. OMG what a disaster and then he did the fatal mistake of telling me to NOT go in the closet. Now.........I'm afraid, very very afraid of what could be living in there lol. Part of me wants to go through it...the other..says he's 18 let him live in it. Good thing I still get too tired right now to do it lol. I was pooped just doing grocery shopping today. My son got me a DS Personal Chef game/program. In the program is the recipe for French Onion soup and another for Garlic Soup made with Churizo (spicey sausage) that he'd love. So I got the ingredients for it. You know the program that they've been advertising with the woman from the Friends show and alittle girl and they make chinese food. That one  It's kinda cute actually  DH and DS also got me the Wii Fit package that has the padding for the Wii board, the carrying tote, the rechargeable battery pack and yoga mat so I'll be starting to use that again. I told myself back to work means start to walk and do small workouts. I just need to do this again and get my ars moving. So I'm ready when you gals are. I'm going to set up a separate thread for our exercise tracking that way folks who want to participate can and those that don't won't feel they have to listen to our mumbo jumbo all the time lol. Sound good? I'll post the link into our regular chat so you can follow it there if you want to participate. As they say.....even moderate exercise being a 10 minute walk or taking the stairs instead of the elevator is going to help when you've done nothing at all before, helps so we don't have to make it hard on anyone. Sound good? Well...I need to get something into my stomach before I eat something I shouldn't UGH. Hugs

Merry Christmas Everyone! Betty & Eileen, I'm on liquids until at least January 7th when I go for my post-op visit. Then my doc does mushies for 2-3 weeks then solids. At least he did the first time around. I'm clueless what band I have but, I'll definitely be asking on my post-op visit. I'm kinda hoping its the newest band that is more pillowy but, we'll see what I got. I'm suppose to go to my brothers for a short while today. I still get sore if I move around too much and their house is always so dang hot and my SIL is one of 13 kids so needless to say it gets so dang crowded and noisy. I'll see how long I last there. Unfortunately, I TOTALLY forgot to get my dad something  TOTALLY and having had my operation and not being able to complete my shopping it didn't help. There are alot of folks we didn't buy for yet but, we're not seeing them until later in January so I had time. I totally forgot about his gift......trying to figure out what to do. I'm just going to tell him the truth and let him know I couldn't get out and didn't finish my shopping then I'll send it to him. I feel aweful but it is the truth. UGH. Well....I need to hop in the shower to get ready to go. Merry Christmas everyone!

Funny...they STILL don't do laundry though. It's not ok for me to go to the grocery store but, it's ok for me to bend over the dryer and fold and to put away the left overs from dinner even though I couldn't eat it? MEN! lol Spose I shouldn't complain huh? I can gripe though hee hee Hmm Betty I tried the eat one thing and dream it's another thing...can't say that a chocolate whey shake will ever taste like a home made cookie lol

I'm just sitting around trying to heal up for Christmas. I'm boring right now. I had to make a list of things for DH to pick up while he Christmas shopped for things he wanted to get me. He got home then I had to send him out again for stuff at the grocery store. He said geesh I've been shopping all day..well there dear now you know how much you appreciate the fact that I do it. *wink* Took him over an hour to get stuff at the store and then there was an accident on the way home that delayed him longer. He was oh so thrilled lol. I'm doing ok hunger wise today but, my tummy wants more...not just my head. My head is ok right now with the little amounts of food. I'm keeping well hydrated that's for sure. I got a call from my medical insurance today asking me if I was ok and how I was doing. WOW I thought that was rather nice  They asked me how I was feeling and if there were any other health issues I had. I told her no but, then remembered I occassionally still have to see the chiro because of the auto accident I had in May. Whew glad I remembered to say that because all I was thinking of was what I'm going through right now ya know? She was nice though and I figured at least now they'll realize why I'm still seeing the chiro sometimes. I have to go tomorrow actually because my neck is really sore. So much so I can't sleep more than 5 hours at night without it waking me up. My shoulder too is really something else and I think it's part the accident and part the gas from the operation too. We'll see how it goes tomorrow if I'm allowed out of the house that is. It's been so freaking icey here my DH is afraid I'll slip and fall so if he has to drive up to the door on the lawn and the snow he'll do it lol. Sad thing is...I wasn't finished shopping so DH had to buy his own gift for me to give him today  Stunk having to do that but, what could I do? Well back to boring tv for me. NCSI is pretty good though and they've been having a marathon. Thankfully I haven't caught many episodes so no repeats for me lol. Betty......what kind of cookies did ya make? I got a massage once and as much as you're relaxed on the way out you do get a bit sore. A nice hot shower helps

Hello my friends, I hope all is going well for you. Still sore today but, doing better. I'll get there. It was nice to have my friends over...they came over because the guys went to the Patriot's game today. My son bought DH tickets for Christmas and I didn't want them to miss it. I ended up kinda doing too much today and caught hell before DH left and he called our friends who were coming and told them I did too much and not to let me. UGH. So he won...they were great. I mean I couldn't even get up to get myself a bottle of water and they'd jump. Geesh! In the end I helped teach my friend how to bake cookies. I told her I wanted to live through her making my holiday cookies. So hopefully she'll win something with the Cookie bake-off at work tomorrow haha. She's a great cook but, doesn't bake at all except cake mixes and pre-made cookie doughs. So from scratch she made sugar cookies with orange and cinnimon chocolate chip sticks. Two of my favorite cookies and she did really great! They looked awesome and smelled heavenly but, I didn't touch a crumb! I stuck with my applesauce, water and protein shake. Her hubby was great too, helped get things down from the shelves we needed...she's a shorty hee hee and I wasn't suppose to do anything as I promised I wouldn't. So while she finished baking he sat with me and watched the cooking channel. I laughed cause I got up once and he immediately said WHERE ARE YOU GOING? I said ummm to PEE lol He said ok well if you need help wiping let me know and cracked up. hahaha. Too funny. Then she turned around and dusted my entire livingroom...how embarrassing but, then she yelled at me and said YOU'D do it for me...she's right...I would so I relaxed...kinda haha. I was very very thankful to have them here today...they kept me company and reminded me how many wonderful friends I have in my life. These two are my family and I love em to pieces. The guys got totally soaked from the snow and rain we had here. Amazing how much snow we've had the past few days. My poor DH is down for the count...between hussling back and forth to Boston for me 3 days in a row, shoveling snow, driving my son (who's still nervous because of his accident to drive in terrible weather) to work and picking him up and then the game...he's pooped. So I'm up reading, watching tv and thought I'd peek in here and check in :scared2: I heard this weird noise outside, and realized it was my Christmas flag being pounded by the wind, stupid me thought I'll go take it down.......Took one babystep onto the front steps and realized NO WAY all ice, if I try I'll fall and be in BIG trouble. So it's still being pounded. I can't believe the ice out there. There are bound to be accidents tonight and tomorrow  Ice just scares the crap out of me...I'll drive in the snow but, black ice and ice....ZOIKS! So....back to reading my Lindora book so I can start that program soon. They're suppose to call me tomorrow to start my phone diet counseling. I think I told you folks it's a program that is interested in having Lap-band patients sign up and work it so I volunteered to help through my docs office. I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes and if it can help us when we're at the point of not losing and still need to. I'll keep you up to date on it and let you know how it goes if you're interested. sniff, sniff...what's that....I think I smell peanut brittle. Man I love that homemade stuff. Betty I used to make that in my microwave all the time but, I can't do that anymore because I eat it too much lol. I have to make things like fudge because I don't care for it as much. I haven't made that either though....kinda out of the baking, candy making thing this year I guess. I'll have to wait until next year. Pat, Diane, Eileen...thanks for the messages Everyone else thank you so much for the good wishes and healing you've been sending me here. I really appreciate it. Don't know what I'd do without my LBT buddies Gotta do more reading....night night goils!

I'll be sure to post it here and on the BIDMC thread. As soon as I heal up and the holidays are over I'll try again to hook us all up to meet. We had a great group last time, I think there were 8 of us that met. I'm hoping we can do the same. We focused on what we were all going through at the time, compared notes and strategies. I'm hoping to get a list with all our phone numbers, email addresses etc together so we can talk with one another too. My docs office has a BANDED BUDDIES list...so many we can start one too. I'll have to call those folks up on the southshore to see if they'd like to join us too. The more the merrier and the more support. I have a whole separate area from the rest of my house that we can use too so it's a great area to have it. We'll work it out soon! I really want to get together with everyone. Right now I'm still hurting...no pain meds for me because they make me sick to my stomach and that's the last thing I need right now. Tylenol just isn't cutting it very well UGH. Take care and I'll definitely keep in touch!

I was banded 2/13/06 so almost 3 years but, I think my band slipped at least a year ago. No idea whats common or not really...everyone is different. I don't think I did anything stupid to cause it, it just happened. I don't recall any specific incident that would have caused this. I'm just thankful I was able to have another one put in right away. One town over isn't bad at all. I'm hoping to get a support group started back up again...hope you'll join us.
