  1. Just don't know what to do with myself... restless, uncomfortable... tired but can't sleep mainly because I'm a tummy sleeper so last few days I've just dozed. Dunno what's normal. Feeling scared, regretful even. Arghh... Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Well cold is under control and all set for seven am arrival at hospital tomorrow. Kinda terrified and excited all mixed together. Shopped for last meal and got steak medallions - nice n small, broccoli spears, squash, and this kale quinoa and edamame bean mix. That's the naughty one as contains butter. But, all things considered it will be small portions and the end of an era for me. Here's to change. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    December 19th date.

I'm scheduled for the 17th - but came down with a cold on Saturday. Had my pre-op yesterday and they said if it's gone on my chest they won't operate. Am gutted. Came home from work today because felt so crap and hoping against hope that a day and half in bed will mean I'm ok by Saturday morning. Keep saying to myself, come on, it'll be 8 days since the cold 'came out' I HAVE to be better. Can't tell you how frustrated and sick I feel. I'd arranged it for the Christmas break to avoid taking time off work and they will be really funny about me rescheduling it in term time, but I can't wait til Easter! So, some positive vibes sent on the ether to make those cold germs do one would be appreciated!!!! So near and yet so far... Also thinking, should I write a will... but really, should I? Agghhh. perhaps some last minute nerves... not sure what worries me most having it or not having it

    Any Long-Timers here

Hi -congratulations on your fabulous journey. I am pre-surgery and thinking long term... I see the surgery as those stabilisers you put on a kids bike... an opportunity to HAVE to eat well and create good habits that will become second nature. I'm on a high Protein low carb pre-op diet and was already restricting sugar for a few weeks. What I'm noticing already is how shockingly different stuff tastes when you don't kill your taste buds with sugar. I guess what I'm saying is your 'constant struggle' worries me and my question is this. Is it a struggle against hunger or a struggle not to eat sugar/processed food? I'm in it to win tut get anxious easily and I hear different things about post op. I have a friend who is eight years post op and who still eats like a sparrow. But she relapsed with her alcoholism so now has a bigger problem. And that in itself makes me think I need to continue my therapy as I'm sure the big part of the 'fix' will happen there. 11. I'm aware I'm a low-ish weigh for surgery - BMW 39.5 235lbs and 5 4 small... I've been told not to do preop diet just kill carbs in last week and take vits but had devised my own programme ahead of Dec 17th surgery to 'lose' bad foods in two week blocks. Have lost 4lbs in two weeks having cut sweets and chocolate but now thinking - and here's the silly question... Say I lost 20lbs in four weeks by dropping carbs replacing meals, and bmi was down to 36 or 37.. or if it went to 35 would they still operate? I know I wouldn't sustain that without the op and would yo-yo back. I intend to use the 6-18 month period of 'can't eat' to change mindset to who would want to eat, whatever. But obvs couldn't do this without op. Maybe I just like to worry!!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Six week liquid diet!

I'm private paying in uk and haven't been told to do any liquid diet because, he says, with BMi around 39 don't need it. However I will do at least a week and in my six week run up I'm dropping the baddies on a weekly basis. Sweets and chocolate first to go. So I think you are amazing and you will have built yourself such a solid foundation for the op too. You go girl x Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  15. Thanks - and I meant prescribed not diagnosed of course. I'm filling in pre- surgery form so will put it on that too. By the way were you able to stop taking it eventually? I still have to have blood tests but am fairly sure it was just acid. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  16. The doctor has just diagnosed lansoprazole a proton pump inhibitor for stomach pain which may be caused by acid. I'm worried this will be a problem and delay my operation. Any Ideas? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
