Will I ever be able to eat normally?
Im 3.5 months post RNY and have lost an amazing amount of weight. I've been extremely strict with myself! I went to a year end function and helped myself to a few Snacks as a treat.... Two days later I weighed in and had picked up over a kilogram / half a pound!!! It's coming off very slowly too... With ONLY shakes and lots of exercise. Can anyone shed any light or hope? Am I going to be on shakes for the rest of my life in order to maintain my weight? Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

Surgery 11/21, not losing a lot of weight
Be patient... I dropped very quickly after my op and then stagnated for three weeks. Your body is adjusting - if you are doing so well with your program the weight WILL start coming off. I know it's hard but be patient and stick to the plan. Best of luck!! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

Help! I ate real food!
Why have surgery if you are not fully committed to following through with the program? If you are fortunate enough to not suffer consequences by eating badly you must know that you are jeopardizing your weight loss. I personally had the op to change my life. I am 3 months post op and have lost 55 pounds. I only had a BMI of 37 to start with so it has been damn hard work and do occasionally allow myself small well deserved treats. I truly wish you the best of luck reaching your goal weight, you are still in a position to change your mindset about what you consume.

Anxiety/ Antidepressant meds (SSRI) post op
Yes I have changed my ssri since surgery. Also bear in mind that this doesn't necessarily mean that the change was due to malabsorption... Many things will change after your surgery and your medication might just be one of them. It's a huge psychological shift to go through this process and it's a complete lifestyle change. If you approach this holistically you will be fine

Knee pain?
I've read this a few times and brushed it off until my right knee started giving me trouble. It's really sore and I can't kneel or put pressure of any kind on a spot under my kneecap. Anyone? Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

Losing TOO much weight
There are many mass gain shakes that have everything in them but no fat or sugar. Question is do you want to pick up weight? If yes I'm positive there are many ways to boost your calorie intake. Contact your dietician if you feel unsure

Chronic medication changes post op / pharmacokinetics
Who has had the experience that their chronic medications have to be changed post op. So ultimately the uptake - or pharmacokinetics of their medications have been changed by RNY. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/754391 " Ingested food and drugs pass through the gastrojejunal anastomosis into the jejunum, effectively bypassing the absorptive surface area of the duodenum. Pancreatic and bile secretions still pass through the duodenum and into the jejunum through the jejunojejunal anastomosis, where they can mix with ingested food and drugs."

Dumping?
It's apparently called lower dumping as I get it too. None of the other symptoms - just gurgling the terrible diarrhea after a meal Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

Here's a silly question
I had exactly the same question! They take your very first weight - the first time they see you Any pre-op weight loss is irrelevant to your BMI when they evaluated you.

Did I actually have surgery?
I will be 4 weeks out in 3 days and haven't lost in 2.5 weeks. In the first ten days I dropped 10kg and then came to a dead halt... Very frustrating as I am sticking to the plan perfectly and staying active Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

Urine Problems
In normal states these ketones will be completely metabolised so that very few, if any at all, will appear in the urine. If for any reason the body cannot get enough glucose for energy it will switch to using body fats, resulting in an increase in ketone production making them detectable in the blood and urine.
