I'm something of a runner....more like a 'trot' than run. I think you'll be fine by February. Good luck with your surgery. I was doing 5k races before my surgery. I was a fit fat person! I even was in a Couch to 5k last summer and barely lost any weight. pffft.

I lost 20 pounds the first month after my surgery. BUT...as anyone here on the BP forum will tell you, everyone is different. There's no magic number, no 'typical' weight loss the first month.

I guess I'm weird, but I only weigh myself twice a week. Weighing every day stresses me out.

URG! Yes! I tried to edit my stats (I lost a couple of pounds!). I was able to edit my ticker on my profile BUT... I couldn't figure out how to edit my surgery information like we used to do on here. Maybe that's something we need to report to the Admins.

@Newme17 thanks for posting the link to the discussion thread! I'm always looking for new ways to cook stuff. Sounds interesting.

@Treadmillwalker Doesn't it? To me, it's technological bulimia. I can't believe the FDA approved that.

OH NO! dang it! How frustrating is that? circumstances completely beyond your control! Hang in there!

This topic has come up before and caused quite a uproar. So, I'm not going to be dramatic about it. It truly isn't good for you to do this. By chewing you're activating your digestive system. It's sending signals to your brain that food is coming. And when it doesn't come, well....now you're hungry and you've got to eat. Not to mention, what if you accidentally swallow the food? Seek out something new to eat that's allowed for your stage. I'm over a month out and trying new things everyday to avoid boredom.

Wow, I've never heard of the electrical stimulation system or the gastric emptying system. The gastric emptying system seems like a big hassle. And it doesn't seem to change the patient's eating habits at all.

Oh my G! I busted out laughing with this one. Me too!!!!I'm looking forward to it NOT rolling down!

The struggle is real (and so is the sneaky tug to pull the darn things back up)!

I can't eat two eggs. One is my limit. I don't weigh anything, though I do measure when I can. I'm not super diligent about it, I can now visualize how much I can eat--it's not much at all. I use smaller plates too.

I was under 40 BMI (39), and I got sleeved by an excellent doctor here in Alabama. My insurance wouldn't cover it since I was a lower BMI, so I had to pay out of pocket. I'm sure if you keep looking you will find someone to do it. If you were under 35, yeah, I could see it being a problem. But since you're over, I am sure you can find someone to do it.

I was originally considering the Orbera (the weight loss balloon) but I decided that I didn't want to put that much money into a solution that wasn't permanent. I had to self-pay for my surgery but I am so glad that I did it.

It's too early for the scale!! Give yourself time to recuperate. I didn't lose anything the first week either.

@sleevingbeauty321 You can do this! Hang in there. Every day it gets better!

@truckerswife not to disrespect your mom, BUT...sounds like the problem is her insecurities. Not cool to project on you.

Now I'm in the mood to look up the old Hans and Franz skits from Saturday Night Live....
