I wish I could get my insurance to cover, and am seriously considering changing jobs so I can have insurance that will pay for the panniculectomy & breast lift. I hope to be in your shoes by the end of my first year or so. I'm almost 4 months post op, and down approx 78.someodd lbs (1/2 way there!), but weightloss has slowed down. I'm aiming for 2lbs a week which seems reasonable to me.
I had to wait a year after surgery and be the same weight for 6 months and my gastric surgeon helped. He is actually doing the stomach part and I found a plastic surgeon willing to submit insurance for the breast and he will do it at the same surgery as my stomach so only one hospital stay! You just have to find the right plastic surgeon. I went to 6 before I found one willing to work with insurance

I was also scared and looked up so many different websites of what not to eat etc. but I’m sooooo picky especially with textures of food. Trust me the tools it Greek 100 Protein is the best!!!! They have so many flavors apple pie & stawberry cheesecake were my life savers when I am craving sweets! Lol I buy around 30 a week lol I eat regular food (small amount) then if my stomach feels a little crampy I’ll eat a yogurt afterwards it helps settle it down. Main this to remember is CHEW CHEW CHEw. Fir me I have found no way can I eat lettuce and all my bread has to be very very toasted or I feel it’s clogged! Very important YOU CAN EAT FRENCH FRIES (I eat maybe 6 or 7) or any type of potatoes cause I wasn’t and ended up in the hospital with potassium deficiency and that IV SUCKS!!!!! Burns sooooooooooo bad!!

hello I am 1 yr & 5 months out from bypass and honestly I found it was beneficial to my sanity to not get on a scale only once a week. The first few months my weight went up then big drops down. as for hunger pains that is purely mental since bypass ectualy removes those recepters from your stomach. I found yoplait greek 100 with Protein was amazing at ending those pains and some of the flavors made me feel like I was eating a dessert LOL Just be patient it will come off even when your not trying. I have been at the same weight (my goal weight 150lbs) for over 5 months and I am not trying. I am eating just about anything I want (except bread, sugar or pasta) I do cheat on the Pasta sometimes LOL the main thing for you at this point is protein!! and the bariatirc Protein Powder was good when you blended in some real fruit. but the yoplait greek 100 with protein was amazing (i still eat 3 a day) and there is almost 20 g of protein in each one.

I am now at 1 year 5 months after my Gastric Bypass. This journey wasn't easy but I have been at my goal weight 150lbs now for over 5 months (highest weight 287). I'm getting insurance approval for my panniculectomy and breast reconstruction. Then my journey will be complete. I feel amazing!! Still experimenting with most foods and never afraid to try new foods all the time. Posted are my before & after pics. Insurance DOES pay for Panniculetomy & reconstruction breast LIFT (not augmentation) so I am very happy about that!! I didn't read or follow all the diets online. I knew my body and paid attention to how i felt and made my own diets. First 4 months after surgery Yoplait greek 100 Protein yogurt was my best friend and I still eat 3 a day! they are so smooth not gritty like other greek yogurts. I eat everything from Steak to pizza. (just very small amounts chewed VERY well) I have not gained any weight back and am looking forward to my plastic surgery so I can look as good on the outside as I feel on the inside. IF anyone is scared or have any questions about anything feel free to e-mail me sjohnson4021 at yahoo.com

My best friend was sugar free popsicles they saved me from being dehydrated! I had so much trouble getting the 'sipping' tying down.. I started using the tiny coffee stirrer straws and I'm doing good drinking now.

Just wanted to share my satisfaction with my progress..I stopped the pain meds the morning after surgery and according to my dr I'm doing very good. I went back to work 1/2 days at 6 days (I sit at a desk) I even went dancing for little bit Saturday. Taking my time eating and trying to find that 'full' feeling. I haven't gotten sick or anything which I'm so glAd for. I am down 36.4 lbs since 2 weeks before surgery. And looking forward to my new chapter.

I am 14 days post op and feeling fantastic. Even went dancing Saturday night. Try to get off the pain meds as soon as possible. I stopped them the next morning after my surgery. They make feel worse. I just took regular liquid Tylenol. Dr let me skip puréed and I'm on soft food. My BIGGEST issue was drinking. I just couldn't get the sipping thing down. So even though my dr said no straw he told me to try one of those tiny coffee stirrer straws and it's been such a help. I feel like I'm drinking a big drink but because of the tiny straw it's a small drink. I've been able to drink 4 cups aday so far.

Well I saw my dr today 8 days post op and he said it was ok as long as my stomach tolerated it. And he said I'm doing better then any patient he's had. I'm in no pain and I even went back to work 1/2 days Monday. I'm able to eat any soft or puréed food now. I'm not restricted to only puréed. So I appreciate your opinions but I'm good thanks.

I haven't been able to drink any juice only Water & sugar free popsicles. I was feeling no energy so I made myself a scrambled egg with fat free milk and was able to eat some of it without any problems. Do you think it was ok for me to eat?

I had my gastric bypass on 11/8. I had major issues with the pain meds. Once I stopped then I felt so much better. My question is how do you know how much broth to eat? I'm able to tolerate sugar free popsicles. I am really missing regular food. Especially my saltine crackers. I used to eat like a pack of crackers a week.
