    Foodie Life Post-op

I, personally, have been finding it fun taking recipes I enjoy and cleaning them up. Most of the time I cannot tell the difference in what I am eating compared to what I ate before.

    No more stall

Congrats! My stall is over too. I had a super long one for some reason. Was 346 at my 1 month appt and stepped on the scale last Thursday I think it was and was down to 335! Have been avoiding scales, even threw mine away. I want every time I step on to be a pleasant surprise, so even if I only lose 2 that week, but 20-30 the whole month I still don't know the difference. 10/31 HW 404.8 SW 369.2 CW 335 (last I checked)

    Surgery day question- girl stuff

I started my period the day before surgery and there was no issue. And honestly, while in hospital i didnt even worry about it. I mean i wanted to shower and stuff and was eventually able to the next day, & i hope this doesnt gross anyone out but i didnt even worry about pads or anything. I brought them with me and ended up not using them and just laying on a big pee pad looking thing they put down anyway. Sent from my SM-S820L using the BariatricPal App

I suppose im experiencing my first stall. My first week post op i lost 22 lbs. Then from there to my 3rd week NUT appt i only lost 5 lbs. That was last monday and since then my home scale hasnt moved. How do you pull yourself from a stall? Im ready to start losing again because this is not a good feeling. 3 week stall

@@amethyst391 thank the lord, i stepped on a scale last night and my stall is finally broken as well. 11 lbs since my last surgeon visit on 11/30.. i walked more, drank more Water, changed my sugar free coffee creamer to premier Protein premade shake and cant even tell a difference. Might like the protein a bit better. And have been really trying to get protein before anything else. Sent from my SM-S820L using the BariatricPal App

Same here. my surgery was 10/31.. lost 22 first week, 5 more between then and 3 week checkup.. then stopped. even gained 3 lbs but i think/hope that was from my cycle. I don't know where I am at right now. FEEL like I have lost, hope I have lost... but not going to even check until my next appointment.

    STALLED FOR ONE MONTH!

How big are the bottles? I was drinking 4 16.9oz bottles a day before surgery. Now, its a little harder to get in that much but I do try. I also bought a 32 oz Water bottle and just refill it instead of using the plastic ones.

  11. I am looking forward to being able to go shopping and not having anxiety about what fits and what wont. or not wanting people to see me walk in to the notoriously plus size store and STILL being the largest person shopping there. I am also looking forward to having more confidence and not having anxiety about meeting new people. Also, eating in public and not having people judge me for what I eat. There is just so much I can think of.. Surgery 10/31 HW- 404.8 SW-369.2 CW-346.1
  12. I am single and live alone and cook for one person. I have been cleared to move on to a regular diet and am SO stuck on what to add to my grocery list aside from tuna packets. I wish they had single servings of meats and vegetable even rather than just by the lb. Help.

    Question

Yes! You're getting used to the liquids. My first time eating a solid I felt overwhelmingly full after just a few bites.

On to regular diet... what to buy?

Thank you @@stacyrg2 !! I will try freezing. I just sit and write out my list and notice myself still writing amounts as if i still ate those big portions and have to remind myself and change it. It will take some getting used to.

On to regular diet... what to buy?

I also prefer fresh veggies. I wont do canned. I think I just get overwhelmed at thinking about cooking it all and then measuring out and freezing or saving for the week. Meal planning makes me nervous.
  16. I have surgery in 4 days!!!! It is becoming so real to me now. I was scared before, but yesterday did ease my mind quite a bit. HW:404.8 CW: 369.1 35.7 lbs down so far! This weekend I plan on spending time with friends (who are more supportive than my family apparently), cleaning my house in preparation for surgery as I want to be as comfortable as I can be, and packing my hospital bag. I cannot wait!!! Does anyone have any recommendations of must-haves for the hospital? I will be bringing CPAP, comfy clothes, heating pad, brushes and toothbrushes, toiletries... anything else?

family that won't stop eating badly ?

I think you should find something to occupy your time while they eat. You can go for a walk, lookup healthy recipes. Whenever someone in my family wants to eat fast food or something I cannot have there is a major battle going on inside my head. "God that smells good, remember how it tastes? Just a bite won't hurt." Then you have sensibility saying, "No. You will make yourself sick. Do you want to be back up to 400 lbs? one bite will lead to more." So instead of listening to the argument I occupy my time. The definition of willpower is the ability to resist short-term temptations in order to meet long term goals. Your family SHOULD be more supportive of you and your new lifestyle. does that mean they should change the way they want to eat? No, but they should respect that they shouldn't do it in front of you. I also live alone, so if I am spending time with them and they choose to eat something I would rather not be tempted with I go home.

I think we just broke up...shedding unsupportive friends

I think it's more jealousy and a true friend would not disappear during the time you need a friend the most. I'm sure you wouldn't Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App That is what told me my "friend" mentioned above wasn't a true friend at all. I posted an update side-by-side picture about 2 weeks after surgery to where the loss was already noticeable and she blocked me. They sound like narcissists. It is so much easier for those types of people to spew hate and jealousy than it is to take control of their own lives like all of us have.

I think we just broke up...shedding unsupportive friends

That makes a ton of sense. I have... well had... a friend who struggles with weight as well. She also struggles with PCOS, whereas i do not. PCOS attributes to some of her weight and infertility issues (not that she has a stable relationship anyway). once I got the surgery I started to hear from her less and less. Turns out it was jealousy and she wouldn't have anyone to eat with anymore.

Feel like this is all for nothing.

Thank you, that makes me feel a bit better. I am hoping that is what it is. that I was just at a stall and now I am 4 lbs heavier because I haven't started yet. He just cleared me for exercise today (i have been walking already) so I am going to work on getting a membership this week and honestly throwing away my scale because it is way off anyways. & I have had tendencies in the past to get addicted to weighing and the numbers aspect.

    3 week stall

I am having that same issue right now. it is extremely discouraging. I had to talk myself down from crying in the doctors office. a few tears escaped. what happened with me was my first week follow up, i was down 22 lbs. then 2 weeks later I was only down 5 more. that was a week ago. now today, I am up 4... so TECHNICALLY I am still down 1 lb from the 1 week follow up (terrible progress in my opinion) but a gain is a gain. I was cleared to exercise today so I am hoping that will get me going again. I have upped my protein, i wasnt drinking my shakes now i force myself to drink at least 2 8oz homemade shakes to give me at least 48g every day. Also gonna start tracking calories. I've been tracking my calories and I've been consistently around 400-500 calories a day. But I know I need to get more protein and fluids in. Sometimes I think I should go back to a liquid diet but I know that this is just a phase and I do enjoy having the extra energy. TMi - I've also been quite backed up and been struggling with getting a BM. Hopefully when it happens, I'll drop the extra weight that I'm carrying around in my gut. I feel so bloated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I have thought about going back to liquid too just because thats the quickest I lost and thought maybe I should reset myself. Also I was backed up as well. My surgeon's office told me to try milk of magnesia. That worked for me and now I am pretty regular.

Feel like this is all for nothing.

I lost about 35 pre-op. & @@catwoman7 I am hoping it is just Water retention. It is nearly that time of the month and I surely don't FEEL bloated. In fact, I felt like I had lost some more and one of the shirts i wear fairly often and am familiar with feeling tight has felt even looser than it had been around my lower belly area. So I thought I would have surely lost some. I do hear that you can lose inches and not lbs though. I hope that is what is going on.
