Yikes!!! No one told me to wait 30 days...actually Dr Aceves didn't mention it!! I waited 11 days....Hmm...I'd ask your dr., maybe he had a particular reason??

Thanks everyone....Renee, I too am a Dr Aceves patient and am only allowed the 2 oz, I know I couldn't even do 1 oz of yogurt yet.. I am okay w/this, it's just different than my band and was unexpected. With my band, I had no issues w/yogurt or even cottage cheese at this point. I can now see why people lose so quickly..I am now down 22lbs in 16 days. I am still so tremendously happy to have that band out of me, I think I can handle almost anything. I just need to get some more Protein shakes..I have been living off the Premeire Protein RTD from costco and Special K Protein H20. I appreciate all of you!!! Erika

It seems like since trying the yogurt, I am burping w/every sip I take...weird..

Oregondaisy just had a facelift in Mexicali...I was being revised w/Dr Aceves while she was there..she liked her surgeon..just a thought

Hi Patti, First, I would like to thank you for your prayers before my surgery, as I was SO anxious. But now, I am 1 wk out today and feel pretty good. Honestly, I didn't have a lot of pain..I expected much more. Now, I am mildly achy and just don't quite feel myself. I am fully functioning, for the most part. I went grocery shopping yesterday and to my son's baseball game the day before that. As for entertainment...the first day, I slept on and off most of it. You will have a TV in your room that will have a handful of channels in English..some play old movies/TV shows and I think only one or two of them were the same as the US (like CBS). If you have a portable DVD player w/movies I would probably bring it. I don't know if you have a laptop, the hospital has WiFi...we brought our Ipad loaded w/tons of games. I surfed the internet a ton and played a lot of solataire...it was a lifesaver Truly, you are in great hands. I had a lot of fear going down to Mexico...but, it was all relieved once we got there. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Ernesto, the driver didn't have a lot to say on the drive over and I had moments when both my husband and I wondered what the heck we were doing. Side note- my husband is a federal officer and he actually took a pic of Ernesto's license plate and sent it to some of his buddies at work. With his job...he is SO suspicious of everyone!! When all was said and done he felt very silly for doing that!! Take a deep breathe...the next month will be tough. But, it is so worth it!!! I am down 14lbs my first week. It's been hard...not so much pain wise..but, I am still cooking for my family and it's hard to wrap my head around only Clear liquids for 15 days (Dr Aceves added 5 days fo my clear phase because of all the scar tissue from the band).. I have felt hungry off and on and have stared into the pantry or fridge crying more than once. But, I don't regret it at all and even through the tears...I know I have done the right thing. You truly have to throw yourself into God's hands and trust Him...you will do great and I will be praying for you!!!! Love and prayers, Erika

Just trying to relax here in my hotel room. Suprisingly, I am not too nervous, just hoping to not be in too much pain when I wake up. Had my preop testing completed this afternoon and the driver will be picking my husband and I up at 7 tomorrow morning to take us to meet w/Dr. Aceves before surgery. Prayers are welcomed and please make room for me on the looser's bench! Much love, erika

Thank you SO much for all your prayers and well wishes. everything went great. There was a fair amount of scar tissue that was removed without a problem and then he Sleeved meq . I am not having any nausea and the pain is manageable...my lap band hurt so much more. I have some gas bubbles that can take my breath away For a moment...but other than that I just feel like I got punched in the gut. I am so thrilled to get to have something to drink tomorrow.. I AM SO THIRSTY!! I am quite tired and doze off an on, in fact I need to do that now. thanks SO much everyone...much love, Erika P.S. No worries Denise...

Thanks Sara and Renee for sharing your experiences...both the good and bad. I am flying down tomorrow and am having my band to sleeve revision Monday...Hope it just keeps getting better and better for you ladies!!!

I think more than anything...I am afraid to fail I am 36 and have struggled most of my life.

I think I saw the Muscle Milk (not sure if it was light) powder at Costco. Just trying to stock up..bought some Chicken Unjury and Syntrax Nectars today..My surgery is on Memorial Day, May 30th. I am SO nervous I am nauseous most of the time. How are you feeling??

I was reading a brilliant blog on here the other day (I don't remember the author) and she said something like.."I am going to Mexico and having most of my stomach cut out...who does that??" I am having my band to sleeve revision in 10 days and I keep asking myself if I am crazy. I am going to Dr Aceves and of course, have heard nothing but great things about him and his staff. Honestly, I am terrified!!! I have mine and my hubbie's tix to San Diego purchased, we have the time off work, I have the inlaws coming over to watch my kids. However, I am still in denial. I keep saying to others and myself the word "IF." IF I go to Mexico and do this....IF I actually go through w/this. For some reason I can't quite say "I AM DOING THIS." I seem to always be THAT person that has complications. I have had a DVT (over 2 ft long blood clot) in my leg w/blood clots in my lungs.. I am overall healthy...but am a nurse and feel like I have the dreaded "nurse curse." I am also still wrestling w/the whole idea of removing most of my stomach. I have been researching the sleeve for over a year now ( I am a band to sleeve revision). I have desparately wanted to revise, but now when it comes down to it..I am a chicken...they tell us that the LapBand is reversible and that was a huge selling point to me. Well, it's removable, I don't know about reversible- it has caused quite a bit of damage The sleeve is permanent and I just don't want to make another mistake. Hi Renee, I am being revised from a band to sleeve 5 days after your sleeve and I am just as terrified as you...We can do this...we need to do this. Hang in there and I want to hear everything. Thank you everyone...I appreciate your responses. Only 10 days to go!! I am praying constantly and know that God paved the path ahead of me. I love that there are so many people that are in so many different places and we can all come together and share w/each other.... may we all be on the loosers bench <3

Nope..you're not crazy. That's what I am doing. Tired of fighting w/BCBS and am headed to Mexico in 9 days My Mexican surgeon has done far more sleeves than most US surgeons...so, as crazy as it sounds to go to Mexico to have most of your stomach removed..I am doing it!!! Best wishes to you!!

Hey everyone, I am scheduled for a band to VSG revision on May 30th w/Dr Aceves. I am an RN in a really busy daysurgery unit at my local hospital. It is really a hardship for them to let me off to have this surgery and (I know everyone is different) about how much time should take?? I work 3 - 8hr shifts a week and they are busy. No real heavy lifting...just running around, starting IVS and passing pain/antinausea meds. I have told them I needed 3 wks off, but am hoping to be back in 2...is this realistic?? I just feel bad for leaving them a little shorthanded. Thanks for any advice....also, if any other band to sleevers want to tell me how much more they love their sleeve, I always love to hear it.

Hey everyone...I am tentatively scheduled w/Dr Aceves for May 30th. Finally got tired of fighting w/my insurance and decided to head south. Still have a few things that need to come together for this to become a reality...but I am close I am a band to sleeve revision...can't wait to get rid of this thing!!!
