  1. I had a hernia repair as well so i just say that. Most people dont really care lol. After hiatal hernia you have to be on special diet so that accounts for about everything. But the truth is if we don't eat right and move we won't lose so saying diet and movement is the truth. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Had my surgery the 24th. This is the first day I have felt ok to walk around and do things. I was really worried I was so weak and dizzy. But I started my Protein drink before I even got out of bed and it really helped. I had a hernia repair which I did nit realize was such a healing process for that. Some people have major eating issues even without the sleeve so that made me feel better about everything. Anyone else with a hernia repair take a bit longer to recover? 4. Everyone responds to positive advice rather than criticism for sure. I can say though that while I saw a Nut once before surgery. I was given a little booklet. My surgery happened so fast I do not think I was prepared and I did and still do stupid things without thinking since my surgery last week. The receptionists at my docs office are terrible and it makes me not want to call the office at all. So this site has been a god send. But again i don't think anyone should go off on someone else. Most people in this site have dealt with a lot of negativity and some people have no tact. So yes someone might feel like they are "helping" by being hostile but be prepared when others push back. Overall most on here are wonderful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. I went out with family today and it included out to eat. Eye opener. The tiny amount if food I could eat opened my eyes to what i used to eat. As well as what everyone else around me was eating. I mean it is amazing the clarity the sleeve brings. I ordered a cup of Soup. I tasted some ketchup when i craved french fries. After all that is what I was really craving the taste of. Potatoes only take on the taste of what you put on them. Was satisfied. I looked at the giant triple stacked burgers. I can't believe I could have ate those things before. I still look very pregnant and swollen. But my pants are loose. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

1 week weigh in post op

Thank you for saying this. I have been shocked at how many times I have read people restricting calories to the point of starvation. All research will tell you that will not lead to long term weight loss. As well as our bodies are healing from a major surgery. People might get the numbers they want in the beginning by living off 500 a day but it will long term bottom out their metabolism and lead to gain down the road. I am def going slow and steady and focusing on health right now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

1 week weigh in post op

After speaking with my bariatric nurse, i jumped my cals from 600-700 to 800-950 and my protein from 60's to 70's. Since then i have been losing 1+ lbs a day rather than the 0.4 -0.6 previously. HW 385 SW 359 CW 340 Sleeved 10/5/16 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I dont think really restricted caloric intake is good for long term weight loss and the medical research back this up. Its great for rapid weight loss but your body will hoard calories later. On the other hand I know it is hard to get calories in on such a small sleeve Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery was yesterday

Yes the mental part is hard. I know this sounds crazy but I would forget and grab a nibble of food like a piece of fried potato. Of course it didnt go down but it was just a habit to try any food that was around. I did this several times and paid dearly. Food obsession is real. Even though I wasnt hungry i missed the taste of food and spices. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I had bad nausea and vertigo. Everytime I moved my head the world would spin. I suspect the pain meds were a part of the problem. But for me the incision sites and my belly was very little pain but i had a hernia repair and when I woke up my diaphragm was so tight and full or air i honestly felt like I was having a heart attack. I could barely speak the pressure was so great. But it did go away. Just be honest with docs. I was shocked that after walking a little bit the pressure did go away gradually. The nausea and vertigo would hit mw without warning but they are good about keeping you comfortable. When i got home I had to basically hide away for a few days until the meds left my body to get rid of vertigo. On day six I felt much better. I barely take any pain meds. Did I make a mistake?

I understand. I got sleeved the 24th and had hernia repair and it was really really tough with nausea and vertigo. Everytime I raised my head I about fainted. I have had a hard time wrapping head around being in constant state of starvation and supposed to heal from major surgery. Today was better. I know we r having hormonal fluctuations as well so I guess that is some of the depression. Also maybe we associate food with comfort and our comforter is no longer able to be there for us. I can't say this week ai would advise anyone to put themselves through this but maybe next week I will change my mind. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    For women only

I started the day i was released and i have always had horrible painful periods so it was a doozy. The cramps along with the trapped air and surgical incisions made it very difficult. I was hurting from neck to thigh. Yes it was pretty awful. I felt like i was going to hemorrhage. The nurses at the hospital warned me the catheter and surgery could being on my cycle Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
